Chapter 340 -264: You Call This a Small-Scale Business?
“Alright.”
Wan Jiaze considered it for a moment, then dropped the pleasantries. “Then let’s do this again sometime. My treat next time.”
“Sounds good.”
Gu Heng smiled and nodded. He and a somber-looking Wan Jiakai then climbed into the back of a Maybach GLS 600. With a driver already waiting, the car quickly departed from the Champion Scholar Pavilion.
Wan Jiaze watched the Maybach GLS 600 drive off. The next moment, he could feel all his men staring at him.
“Don’t look at me.”
“I don’t know anything.”
“Really, I don’t know a thing.”
Wan Jiaze spread his hands, looking a bit helpless.
“Captain Wan, your cousin’s childhood friend is really something else.”
Gao Wei remarked with a hint of awe, “That female bodyguard in the black, stand-collar wool coat… Don’t underestimate her just because she’s a woman. I feel like if I tried to fight her hand-to-hand, I probably wouldn’t last five seconds.”
“For real?”
Someone looked skeptical. “You live in the gym and you’re ripped. You’re telling me you can’t even take on a woman?”
“Gao Wei probably isn’t kidding.”
“That woman from before… If we were bare-handed, without any of our police gear, she’d likely take all of us down unless we swarmed her at the same time.”
“And if she were armed, the outcome would probably be even uglier for us, even with our gear.”
Just as doubts were being voiced, Sun Ye, a former soldier, spoke up. His expression was grim, and it was clear he wasn’t joking in the slightest.
“She’s that tough?”
When the others saw even Sun Ye saying this, they stopped doubting and were all left dumbfounded.
One had to remember, they were all criminal investigators who specialized in fighting crime. Their arrest and combat skills were far superior to those of an ordinary beat cop. When they moved as a unit, their seamless teamwork could force even the most vicious and desperate criminals to surrender without a fight.
And yet, Sun Ye was saying that even if all of them went at her bare-handed, they still couldn’t take down a single woman. How could that not leave them in shock?
“Clearly, that woman is a professional bodyguard—and a top-tier one, by the looks of it. Someone of her caliber probably makes over a million a year.”
Hearing Sun Ye’s analysis, everyone was secretly astonished.
‘A single bodyguard with a seven-figure salary!’
‘Just how rich is Gu Heng?’
‘It’s unthinkable!’
‘Completely unimaginable!’
“Alright, enough.”
“They’re long gone, so let’s stop guessing.”
Wan Jiaze took a deep breath. “Weren’t you all just pestering me to treat? Tonight, I’m booking the Platinum Club. Same old rules: tips are on you, drinks are on me!”
“Holy shit!”
“The Platinum Club?”
“Isn’t that place super high-end?”
“With so many of us, how much is that going to cost?”
Gao Wei couldn’t help but swear, his eyes going wide in an instant.
“Well, it’s only once a year.”
Wan Jiaze said with a laugh, “If we’re going to do this, we might as well go all out.”
As one of the most exclusive music and business lounges in all of Beichun, the Platinum Club’s clientele consisted mainly of wealthy tycoons. It was only because Wan Jiaze came from a well-off family that he could consider it. If an ordinary wage earner were to host a party there and let loose a little, they could easily blow through half a year’s salary.
“The Platinum Club, seriously?”
“Let me check if my private stash is even enough for the tip.”
As he spoke, Sun Ye pulled out his phone and glanced at his personal funds. “Still got over two thousand. That’ll be enough.”
“Let’s go, let’s go!”
Seeing his men get all excited at the mention of the Platinum Club, Wan Jiaze grinned and hurried them along. “It’s already nine-thirty! If we wait any longer, the place will be empty!”
“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!”
“Captain Wan is the man!”
“Activating airplane mode. Tomorrow, even if my wife asks a hundred times, the story is: I drank too much, blacked out, and left my phone at the restaurant!”
…
Laughing and joking, the group walked to the side of the road. They piled into taxis, four to a car, and quickly left the Champion Scholar Pavilion, heading for the Platinum Club…
