Chapter 326 -258: Wolf and Dog

At noon, the azure sky was pristine, as if washed clean. A few thin, wispy clouds drifted gently like ribbons of silk. The sun poured down, bathing the entire ski resort in a brilliant golden glow.

On the dozens of winding ski slopes, enthusiasts in colorful ski suits zipped back and forth. Some shot down the mountain with impressive momentum, while others slid cautiously at a crawl. The entire scene was bustling with activity.

“Phew…”

Having just skied down the intermediate slope, Gu Heng lifted off his goggles, tugged down his face mask, and let out a long, deep breath.

“Chairman Gu, have you really never skied before?”

Just as Gu Heng came to a stop at the bottom of the slope, four other people skied up behind him—three men and one woman.

The three men were his bodyguards, and the woman was the ski coach he had hired.

Shi Mengting was a former member of the national team and the silver medalist in the women’s cross-country skiing event at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. She officially retired in ’20 and moved to the Changbai Mountain International Resort, where she founded a ski club and began her career as an instructor.

“I’m not lying to you, Coach Shi.”

Gu Heng caught his breath and replied with a smile, “I’ve really never skied before. Today is my first time.”

“Good heavens!”

“Chairman Gu, I’m not just saying this to flatter you!”

“You are honestly the most naturally talented skier I have ever seen in my entire life!”

“If you were just a few years younger, you could absolutely go pro. It wouldn’t even be out of the question for you to compete in the Olympics and bring glory to your country!”

Shi Mengting gazed at Gu Heng, her eyes filled with utter astonishment.

It had only been three hours since nine o’clock this morning, yet she had watched him transform from a complete novice who knew nothing into someone who had already mastered several basic snowboarding techniques.

Although those basic techniques were child’s play to someone of her caliber, the speed at which Gu Heng mastered them was simply staggering.

Each time, she would explain a technique and then demonstrate it. But when it was his turn to try, he would replicate her movements perfectly every single time, as if he’d known how to do it all along.

If she hadn’t known who he was—and that he had absolutely no reason to be messing with her—she might have suspected he was a professional skier playing a prank on her.

“To get such high praise from Coach Shi… I guess I really must be talented,”

Gu Heng said, his gaze drifting to a small, adorable child on a cartoonish snowboard not far away.

His pale-yellow snowsuit and azure helmet made him stand out against the snow. He had a chubby, round face and long, fluttering eyelashes. At that moment, he was staring at Gu Heng with a dazed, innocent expression that was utterly adorable.

“So, Dun Dun, is Uncle impressive?”

Watching Gu Heng playfully interact with her son, Shi Mengting couldn’t help but feel a flicker of regret.

If Gu Heng were just an ordinary person, she might have tried to persuade him to go pro, even if he was already eighteen. But he was clearly no ordinary person—young, worth billions, with numerous titles and a distinguished status.

How could a business magnate like him possibly give up everything he had to pursue a career in professional skiing?

‘If I’d had that kind of talent back then, I’m afraid I would have been the one standing on the champion’s podium…’

A bitter wind howled past, carrying the crisp, fresh chill of the snowy mountain. As it blew, Shi Mengting’s thoughts drifted back to the past.

“Brother Heng!”

Just as Gu Heng was playing with the little one, a clear, pleasant voice called out from the distance, and a graceful figure in pink appeared in his line of sight.

It was none other than Wang Wan Ning, coming over from the adjacent advanced slope.

Gu Heng had paid to book both his intermediate slope and Wang Wan Ning’s advanced slope for their private use today. After all, back in Zhonghai, he had promised Wang Yan and Wang Wan Ning that he would make sure everything was arranged for them in Ji Province. Even though Changbai Mountain wasn’t his home turf, he couldn’t afford to lose face.

Normally, renting out both an advanced and an intermediate slope for private use would be incredibly expensive. However, because the Zhen Cui Group was planning to establish a massive 10,000-mu herbal medicine cultivation base in the Changbai Region, the Changbai Management Committee personally negotiated with the Changbai Mountain International Resort on his behalf. In the end, they gave Gu Heng an extremely low price—not even half the original cost.

The figure in pink quickly drew closer. Wang Wan Ning’s pretty face was also flushed, giving her a strangely alluring charm. It was the kind of redness that comes from skiing in the cold for hours; even the best face mask couldn’t prevent it.

“Wow!”

“And who is this little sweetheart!”

“Those chubby little cheeks are just too adorable!”

Wang Wan Ning rushed excitedly over to Gu Heng, but her attention was immediately captured by the adorable child in front of him, and her own beautiful eyes lit up.

“He’s the son of the coach I hired.”

Gu Heng reached out and gently poked the little one’s chubby cheek. The skin felt firm, yet smooth and tender. “He’s not even four yet, and he might look a little dazed, but he can already do perfect S-turns. You should see him when he skis—it’s the cutest thing in the world.”
