Chapter 310: Chapter 245: Seeing Wan Ning Again

Gu Heng snapped out of his daze and turned to ask Wang Wan Ning a question.

"No..."

"This is my first time at the Changbai Mountain International Resort," Wang Wan Ning replied, shaking her head.

"Huh?"

"Your first time?"

"But didn’t you say you’ve loved skiing since you were little?"

Gu Heng was a bit surprised. "So where did you usually go skiing?"

"Mostly Hokkaido, and occasionally Switzerland."

Wang Wan Ning replied quietly.

"Ah, I see..."

Gu Heng paused for a moment, but he quickly understood.

Given Wang Wan Ning’s family background, the resources available to her growing up were naturally top-notch. For someone like her, going abroad to ski was a perfectly normal affair.

Hokkaido and Switzerland had been world-renowned ski havens for decades. Although many of China’s top ski resorts could now rival them in terms of natural environment and facilities, they all shared one major drawback.

This drawback was the crowds.

The better the resort, the bigger the crowds.

A single glance would reveal slopes packed like sardines.

While Hokkaido and Switzerland also attracted plenty of ski enthusiasts from around the world every winter, things were different in those capitalist countries. There, as long as you had enough money, you could enjoy the best resources all to yourself.

After so many years of development, Hokkaido and Switzerland had both public ski resorts suitable for the masses and private ones created exclusively for the super-rich.

Those private resorts were typically members-only. Leaving aside the sky-high entry requirements, the annual membership fee alone was more than what an average family could earn in a lifetime.

Given how much Su Lei doted on Wang Wan Ning, she had most likely always skied at those kinds of private resorts.

After all, skiing is inherently a high-risk sport. The danger doesn’t just come from your own actions, but also from other people on the same slope.

Take the hospitals near top ski resorts, for instance. Every ski season, their orthopedics departments would inevitably be overflowing. Minor injuries meant broken arms or legs, but it wasn’t uncommon for people to die on the spot in more severe cases.

In contrast, private ski resorts could mitigate the risks posed by other people to the greatest extent possible. They were far less crowded, and they also had professional staff who would ski alongside you to ensure the risk was minimized.

As the two were talking, the Lorentz Bay Stream drove for a while through the resort before finally stopping in front of the main entrance of the Park Hyatt Hotel.

The automatic doors slid open, and Gu Heng and Wang Wan Ning stepped directly into the hotel.

"Chairman Gu, you’re here."

The moment they stepped into the hotel, someone immediately came up to greet them.

This person was none other than Fan Hong. Just last week, he had finished an inspection tour in Su Province, only to immediately lead his team here to Changbai Mountain in a rush to conduct another one.

"President Fan, you’ve worked hard. You look like you’ve slimmed down quite a bit."

Gu Heng didn’t stop walking, continuing deeper into the hotel. "Make sure you eat on time, don’t put yourself under too much pressure, and take care of your health."

Fan Hong was deeply indebted to Gu Heng for believing in him. He had once been a sudden ray of light in a dark period of Gu Heng’s life. That was why, in Gu Heng’s heart, Fan Hong was far more than a simple subordinate.

"Don’t worry."

"I might look a little thinner, but I’m perfectly healthy."

Fan Hong replied with a smile. He did seem to be in high spirits. Compared to his mature and steady demeanor at the group headquarters, he now clearly had a more adventurous, driven energy about him.

"That’s good."

Gu Heng smiled, then asked, "Is the dinner banquet all arranged?"

"It’s all arranged."

Fan Hong immediately replied, "The leaders from the management committee have been very respectful. They should all be attending tonight."

"Alright."

Gu Heng nodded slightly and exchanged a few more words with Fan Hong.

Accompanied by Fan Hong, the two soon arrived in front of two suites that had been booked for them in advance. They were both Park Hyatt Suites, the hotel’s top room type. During the current peak season, a single night in one easily cost over ten thousand.

Fan Hong added, "Chairman Gu, because we booked multiple Park Hyatt Suites for several nights, the hotel manager has reserved their only private hot spring for us. If you and Miss Wang would like to take a dip, just contact your private butler at any time."

"A private hot spring?"

"Sounds nice."

"We can try it out if we have time in the next couple of days."

’I’ve only ever seen natural volcanic hot springs in certain kinds of movies, but I’ve never actually experienced one myself.’ A flicker of interest sparked within him.

"Chairman Gu, please get some rest first."

"I’ll text you the time and place for the banquet shortly."

Having said all he needed to say, Fan Hong tactfully prepared to leave, giving Gu Heng and Wang Wan Ning their space back.

"Okay."

Gu Heng nodded, then turned to Wang Wan Ning. "Wan Ning, I have a business dinner tonight. You can come with me, or you can stay at the resort and go night skiing. It’s up to you."

"Would it be inconvenient for me to join you for a business dinner?"

Wang Wan Ning asked tentatively, a hint of concern on her face.

"Not at all."

Gu Heng replied with a smile, "Every region in the country is trying to attract investment right now. We’re here to invest, which puts us firmly in the driver’s seat."

"Then I’ll go with you!"

Hearing Gu Heng say that, Wang Wan Ning no longer hesitated.

’Gu Heng was her ultimate goal for this trip to Ji Province.’

’Skiing was indeed her hobby, but it couldn’t even begin to compare to Gu Heng.’

"I’ll text you after I get the time."

Gu Heng said to Wang Wan Ning, "Let’s go back to our rooms to unpack and rest up for a bit."

"Okay~"

Wang Wan Ning replied sweetly. Then, one after the other, they swiped their key cards and entered their Park Hyatt Suites to unpack their luggage...
