Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer
Chapter 1402 - 549: Treasure/Secrets/Battle_2
As he spoke, he lifted his hand and swept it through the air.
An item, wrapped in flesh and blood, was grafted by that flesh onto the outer wall of the Tower of Trial.
"That is a Crown Level Treasure. Using it as the prize for the battle between us could not be more fitting, don’t you think?"
"No, this already counts as extravagant," Alka said.
He truly could not fathom where this God of Rebirth had managed to obtain yet another Crown Level Treasure, nor why he did not embed this Crown Level Treasure into his own body as well.
"If I kill you, what I gain will be far more than just this one."
Hearing that.
The God of Rebirth could not help but burst out laughing.
"Interesting, far too interesting. As expected, you are no ordinary mortal ant.
If it’s possible, then of course everything within my body would also be yours.
The strong, the victor, ought by right to claim everything."
When he finished laughing, his expression returned to calm. He looked at Alka and said, "Although I am not a mortal, I understand that for you mortals, emotion is important. So, to keep things fair, those mortals on the island—I have not done anything to them. I merely shut them away inside the Flesh Nest.
If I die, they will naturally be able to come out. And if you die, naturally, they will not be able to go on living."
With that, he suddenly looked at Alka and said, "Create a Mirror."
Though he did not know why, Alka simply swept his hand at the wall beside them, and another Mirror appeared upon the wall of the Tower of Trial.
The God of Rebirth waved his hand toward the Mirror; a point of light fell into its surface.
Then the Mirror seemed to become a display screen; the image that appeared upon it was Southern Cross Island, where they had earlier encountered the Devouring Mouth.
At this moment the Flesh Nest upon it was still faintly enticing, whispering temptation.
"Aside from that, if you defeat me, I will tell you the fatal weaknesses of those Divines.
And I will depart from the periphery of this world, no longer taking part in any conflict concerning it. I will even return what I once took away from this world."
As he spoke, the flesh upon his chest began to peel open, and three gaps appeared.
Within the gaps, three Treasures, bound and stitched in place by bloody filaments of flesh, were revealed.
Two of those Treasures were Scepter Level.
And above, in the very center of his chest—
Was that Crown Level Treasure.
It was a triangular crystal, or rather an artifact fashioned in the likeness of crystal. Within the triangle one could see blood-red filaments of flesh spreading and weaving like red Gemstone threads.
At this moment the three Treasures were not restrained; under the influx of Magic Power they were reveling in their own radiance.
Even at Alka’s very first glance, he was profoundly drawn in. They were stirring the very instinct of all Intelligent Life to seize and command them.
They exerted an immense allure upon Intelligent Life.
Yet Alka suppressed the impulse at once.
Gazing at the God of Rebirth before him, he frowned and said, "You seem to be acting a bit too generous."
Bestowing a single Crown Level Treasure; refraining from any act that would harm those mortals; even offering Alka what they needed most—the weaknesses of those extramundane Divines.
And most incomprehensible of all, the act of returning the Divinity once plundered from this world.
"There is nothing in that which cannot be understood."
"Do you know how many of the Divines betrayed us?" he asked, looking at Alka.
"Sixty-three," Alka answered.
Those betrayer Divines were not all born gods; many had only arisen as Divines after the Calamity of All Gods.
Some were Sons of God, some were mortals.
For manifold reasons, they too chose to betray the world.
And those sixty-three were the number who ultimately succeeded in surviving, seizing the world’s Divinity and departing.
There had been more betrayers.
They died in great numbers during the struggle against the faction that protected the world.
The sixty-three confirmed names were all inscribed in the records.
"Wrong. There were sixty-six. Three of them were once moles within our ranks," he said with a smile.
But none of that matters anymore. Even the moles followed in departure after victory; at most, they merely feigned death.
"Of those sixty-six, do you know how many still live?"
"How many?"
"Twenty-eight," the God of Rebirth said, smiling.
"The outside world is not an easy place in which to survive, is it? Yet most of these deaths came at the hands of their own kind.
Those Sons of God, those mortal ascendants who thought they could travel alongside us, were the first to die.
Manrudas struck at them immediately, and stole all of their Divinity."
Manrudas was the God of War.
At this point, the God of Rebirth suddenly paused with a laugh, then looked at Alka and said, "That is why Manrudas became the supreme existence first of all.
And those dozen or so Divines who still gaze upon this world’s destruction—all are the same kind of beings.
The greater part of the Divinity within them, indeed their primary Divinity, was plundered from this world.
Once this world revives, they will be in grave danger, so they absolutely refuse to confront that problem.
As for those who betrayed us but are no longer interested in this world—such as myself—that is because the Divinity we once seized from here is no longer our main source of power. Even if we discard it, the loss will not be significant."
Hearing this.
Alka’s brows knit together.
For this was almost the God of Rebirth plainly signaling to him.
It was a stark display of the present weaknesses of the Divines, and above all of the weakness of Mandarous.
