A single question had completely turned the tables.

"Who told you to display the photo at an event like this?" Melody Monroe asked again.

"It was my sister."

Everyone gasped at the two questions and their answers.

"I’ve heard you and President Sterling have been at odds ever since your wedding. You didn’t exactly use the most honorable methods to get pregnant with his child, did you? This marriage you secured with a child—is it a happy one?"

The color drained from Lana Sheffield’s face.

’How did Melody Monroe know so much about her and Christopher Sterling?’

"This little drama you directed and starred in was quite the show. You’re a mother yourself, yet you can shamelessly harm another innocent child! I have my own reasons for keeping my child out of the public eye. It is not a crime, nor is it a mistake. And it certainly wasn’t your place to announce it to the world in this manner. You are utterly despicable."

Eileen Scott suddenly snapped out of it, looking at the crowd in a daze. The atmosphere around her gave her a bad feeling.

"Sister..."

"I didn’t arrange this! Melody Monroe, you’re just spouting vicious lies!" Lana Sheffield immediately retorted.

"I arranged it? And what would be my motive?" Melody Monroe shot back.

Lana Sheffield was speechless.

’This wasn’t how everyone was supposed to react. This wasn’t part of her plan.’

’Once the photo was shown, the media was supposed to swarm Melody Monroe. Who would have cared about motives then? The story about the Scott Family was true! So why was everyone so calm now? Why wasn’t the media making a move?’

"You’re the one with ulterior motives! I admit I hid the fact that I have a son, but I did it to protect my child! I wanted him to have a quiet, normal environment to grow up in. By exposing him like this, do you have any idea what kind of harm you can cause a child? Lana Sheffield, your intentions are truly venomous!"

"You baselessly suspect me of having an affair with President Sterling. Let me ask you, do you have any proof? You hurt people based on nothing more than your own paranoia, making accusations you can’t possibly prove. Do you think you were born superior to everyone else?"

The crisp sound of a slap cut Lana Sheffield off.

Everyone was stunned.

"That slap was for last time," Melody Monroe explained softly. "I should have paid you back that day, but you were pregnant at the time."
