Chapter 450 - 448: Engagement Controversy

"I should get changed and go help him greet the guests. He shouldn’t be out there all by himself," Rose Shaw offered.

"Okay, I’ll come with you."

Rose Shaw got changed, and Melody Monroe helped touch up her hair.

"Rose, you’re so beautiful."

"It’s the dress and the makeup. I can’t wait to see you in a wedding dress someday. You’ll be the most beautiful bride."

Melody Monroe just smiled, not saying a word. ’A day like that... I haven’t even thought about it.’

Rose Shaw gave her makeup one last check in the mirror. Seeing that everything was perfect, she headed out.

Felix Hughes stood among the crowd, a blissful smile on his face.

Rose Shaw walked right over to him.

The moment they saw Rose Shaw, people immediately asked Felix Hughes, "This must be the bride-to-be? She’s beautiful."

"That’s right. Everyone, let me introduce you. This is Rose Shaw," Felix Hughes said, draping an arm around her shoulder as he introduced her to his friends.

"Great to meet you!"

"Hello, everyone."

"Why don’t you all head inside and get a seat? I’ll come join you after I’m finished here."

"Don’t worry about us. You handle your business, we can find our own seats."

After they left, Rose Shaw said to Felix Hughes, "I can’t believe how many people you invited."

"I didn’t tell you beforehand. You’re not mad, are you? I just wanted to make this engagement party a little more grand. I know it’s not what you wanted."

"You’ve already planned everything. Why would I be mad?"

"My parents should be arriving soon," Felix Hughes said, checking the time.

Rose Shaw had already met Felix’s parents with him while Melody Monroe was still filming her show, so they weren’t strangers to her.

Felix’s father had asked about her life and her parents.

All Rose Shaw knew was that her mother had passed away. As for her gambling-addicted father, she’d lost contact with him long ago and had no idea if he was dead or alive.

When Felix’s parents heard about Rose Shaw’s current job, they were very pleased. They assumed she must have graduated from a prestigious university to be working for a major company like Stellaris.

Felix’s success had given his parents a sense of superiority; they could finally hold their heads high.

They seemed like any other parents, and Rose Shaw hadn’t thought much of it the first time she met them.

In fact, the meeting had been a bit stiff.

Because Felix’s mother had asked her a few questions.

About her job, her income, things like that.

After hearing about her job and income, her attitude toward Rose had warmed considerably.

Rose Shaw just figured they were afraid she wasn’t good enough for Felix.

As for her infertility, she had told Felix beforehand and had asked him to tell his parents as well. Felix had said his parents were quite open-minded and would be able to accept them not having children.

Melody Monroe stood in the crowd, and quite a few people, upon recognizing her, came over to ask for photos and autographs, making her feel a little self-conscious.

"Melody, Felix’s parents are on their way. I’ll introduce you when they get here. Why don’t you go find a seat with the others for now?"

"It’s okay, I’ll stay here with you."

"Felix! Rose!" With a shout, an elderly couple with graying hair walked over, one after the other.

"Mom, Dad! You’re here!" Felix Hughes rushed forward to greet them.

"Hello, Mrs. Hughes. Hello, sir," Rose Shaw also greeted them, stepping forward.

"Traffic was a little heavy, or we would’ve been here much earlier." Mrs. Hughes took Rose Shaw’s hand, patting it affectionately. "Rose, you look so beautiful today."

"Thank you, Mrs. Hughes. Ma’am, I’d like to introduce you to someone. This is Melody Monroe, one of my best friends."
