Chapter 402 - 400: Words that Pierce the Heart

It was a perfect reflection of the impression people had of Rose Shaw: tough on the outside, but actually very soft and sensitive on the inside.

"Rose, do you like the new office? President Sterling said if you don’t, we can redecorate it to your liking."

"It’s fine. Don’t go to the trouble."

"Here are the company files for your review."

Rose Shaw flipped open the folder, and the first thing she saw was the financial report. "Did you grab the wrong file? Why do I have the finance report?"

"Now, the finance department reports to you, too! You’re truly President Sterling’s indispensable right-hand woman!"

Rose Shaw closed the folder, her thoughts in turmoil.

"It’s time for the meeting."

Rose Shaw looked up to find Christopher Sterling standing at her door.

Her breath caught.

"Don’t be upset that I made the decision for you, Rose. The position of Executive President of Stellaris was going to be yours sooner or later. I just wanted you to gain a bit more experience first, but I feel you’re ready to take it on now."

Rose Shaw knew there was no turning back now.

"Come on, everyone’s waiting for you."

Rose Shaw followed Christopher Sterling into the conference room. It was already packed with people. The moment she entered, everyone rose to their feet and applauded enthusiastically.

Standing in the crowd, Wayne Payne’s face went deathly pale. There was no longer any comparison between him and Rose Shaw.

Rose Shaw walked to the head of the conference table and immediately switched into work mode.

"I’ll get familiar with other matters in due time. You all know me and how I work. From now on, I’ll be counting on your full cooperation."

Rachel: Rose, what a badass!

"Wayne Payne, the artist you manage, Eileen Scott, has run into some personal issues. These issues have damaged the company’s reputation and caused financial losses. The company must give the public an explanation. Otherwise, we’ll be seen as tolerating this kind of behavior, which is like indulging evil and letting it fester."

Wayne Payne choked.

Rose Shaw’s every word was a piercing blow.

’That’s Mrs. Sterling’s own cousin!’

’Who the hell does Rose Shaw think she is? It’s not even certain how long she’ll last as Executive President! But with Christopher Sterling backing her, he didn’t dare so much as fart.’

"President Shaw, how do you propose we handle this?" Wayne Payne had already asked Eileen Scott if she wanted to leave the company and get out of the entertainment business.

’After all, she’s Mrs. Sterling’s own cousin, not some nobody like Raymond Ford or Rhona Hughes.’

’Taking such a huge hit this time was already a fatal blow for her.’

But Eileen Scott’s answer had been firm: she wasn’t leaving. She would stay in the industry and become more successful than Melody Monroe! She would crush Melody Monroe underfoot and grind her into the dust!

He decided to just toss the problem to Rose Shaw. That way, whatever Eileen Scott was forced to do, the person she would hate would be Rose Shaw, not him.

"Hold a press conference. Have Eileen Scott apologize publicly to salvage the company’s image and suspend all of her commercial activities." Rose Shaw’s words were delivered without a hint of worry about whom she might be offending.

"No problem. I’ll arrange it right away," Wayne Payne agreed instantly.

’He could already imagine Eileen Scott’s reaction when she heard the news.’

’If Rose Shaw wasn’t afraid of making enemies, why should he be? In fact, he couldn’t wait for her to make a few more. That would only work to his advantage.’

When the meeting ended, Christopher Sterling went to Rose Shaw’s office.

"There’s a business lunch at noon. I’d like you to come with me. Your position has changed, so it’s a good chance for you to re-introduce yourself. It’ll make things smoother when you negotiate with these partners in the future."

"Okay." Rose Shaw didn’t refuse.
