Train Survival: I Can Evolve Everything!

Chapter 839: [Talent Cube·Memories (Level 12)]

"So this is the place?"

Led by WALL-E, Ye Qiyan looked at the back of a safe located in an office on this floor before him.

A hole that could only fit half a person entering existed right here.

"So small..."

Ye Qiyan looked at the opening that only reached his calf. To get in, a normal person would have to lie down and crawl inside.

"Good thing I got this earlier."

He took out a small anchor from his Storage Unit.

[Overdrive·Teleportation Ban!]

This derivative item, which had gained a link with the Anchor after Sublimation, could be used as a freely movable Anchor Point.

The task of bringing this mobile Anchor Point inside still fell to WALL-E.

The little cube robot made a gesture guaranteeing mission completion, then slipped into that dark, lightless space with the anchor in tow.

After a brief wait, a notification chime sounded.

Begin Sailing.

[Drowning...]

Slowly sinking in this warm, bottomless abyssal depth.

The light ahead grew farther and farther away.

Gentle whispers surrounded him, echoing in Ye Qiyan's ears.

He reached out his hand, grabbing upward.

The moment his eyes opened, he found himself in a vast, empty, concealed Subspace world.

Ye Qiyan left an Anchor Point in that office as preparation for escape.

A swarm of Nano Giant Sting Bees remained outside, repositioning the safe to block the hole again.

He released Lisette from the Matrix space.

Looking around.

The entire space was filled with chaotic Turbulence from the void.

If an ordinary person faced this kind of Turbulence, forget touching it—merely approaching would be enough to grind them into pulp.

WALL-E tugged at his pant leg, another Mechanical Claw pointing toward a pyramid-shaped building not far away—the only distinctive structure in the entire space.

"The treasure is over there?"

WALL-E nodded, his eyes curving happily, the meaning all too obvious.

As his master, Ye Qiyan smiled softly, bent down to pat WALL-E's iron head, then handed over several bottles of Plasma Cola with customized flavor blends.

"Thank goodness for you, otherwise I'd never have found this godforsaken place. Alright, let me go see just what's on top of that thing."

Ascending to the peak of the pyramid, no treasure appeared as anticipated. Instead, a peculiar device sat there.

The device had a notch on it. The shape of the notch felt oddly familiar to him.

[Secret Substitute Cube]

He took out the Cube and compared it—it was actually a perfect match.

"A key, huh?"

Pressing the Cube into the slot, the pyramid immediately began vibrating at high frequency.

Ye Qiyan hugged WALL-E and Lisette as he spread the jet wings of [Celestial Comet Drive] and flew to midair.

He watched as the pyramid split open from the middle.

Revealing what was hidden beneath—a transparent coffin.

"A coffin? The treasure is a coffin?"

Ye Qiyan landed on the ground, cautiously observing the coffin. He sent out a few Nano Giant Sting Bees to touch and appraise it.

[Ancient Resurrection Coffin]

[A coffin crafted through alchemy, made to revive a certain being within. However, the existence inside the coffin only had its physical body repaired—its soul remains in a state of oblivion.]

[Note: Resurrection has failed. The coffin has lost its function. Can be opened. Upon opening, there is a certain probability that the corpse inside will transform into a zombie.]

There was a person inside the coffin.

An elderly man who appeared to be around eighty or ninety years old.

Ye Qiyan thought of the information he'd heard at the lowest level of that old RUN Company headquarters building underground.

Could the person in this coffin be the one who was supposed to be resurrected?

"Master."

Lisette, who was also observing the surroundings, called out to Ye Qiyan.

She waved her hand.

"There's something here."

Ye Qiyan walked over to Lisette and saw a skeleton framework kneeling on one knee nearby, and cradled in its hands, a letter made of metal wrapped within an iron casing.

Lisette opened the letter for him, reading its contents word by word.

"If anyone has come here, you must be a later arrival of RUN Company."

"Please, do not disturb the person in the coffin. That is an ancient and great existence. I am already dead. I hope and pray that my big brother can complete his resurrection and continue on."

Nameless and unsigned, the letter was filled entirely with reverence for the man in the coffin.

An ancient and great existence.

Quite an impressive title, indeed.

Ye Qiyan didn't particularly care who this guy was. The resurrection had failed anyway—the person inside was long dead. At worst, a zombie would appear.

No matter how powerful he was in life, the moment he pulled out the Pure Cleansing Stone and shone it on them, it was game over regardless.

So Ye Qiyan summoned the Raven Demon, grabbing hold of the coffin lid, preparing to open it.

The treasure was right inside—how could he give up over some mere dead man?

A certain seal on the coffin was resisting the Raven Demon's efforts.

Lisette, standing beside Ye Qiyan, received the command and drew out a spiral-shaped short blade.

[Talisman of Universal Annihilation]

The blade's tip touched.

The colors of the surroundings faded to black and white.

RUMBLE!

The seal shattered. The corpse inside the coffin instantly grew thick, ink-green grave mold all over its body.

"Urgh!"

The corpse let out a sound, but before Ye Qiyan could pull out the Pure Cleansing Stone to deal with it, the Raven Demon gave it a glare. The twin—the Demon Raven perched on its shoulder—flew to the corpse's heart and drove its beak in with a fierce strike.

"Caw!"

The zombie was pierced through. The concept of death solidified upon this already-dead creature.

The rotting heart was bitten off and swallowed by the Demon Raven. The corpse collapsed, never to move again.

"Right, right—zombies are something you two can completely counter anyway."

Ye Qiyan let out a wry chuckle and walked up to the coffin. After the Raven Demon pulled the corpse out, he looked at the only thing among the rotting flesh and blood.

It was... a Cube?

"A Cube again? This guy really does love his cubes."

The Demon Raven hopped in and retrieved the Cube for him.

WALL-E, who had been following beside Ye Qiyan, immediately got excited, waving his Mechanical Claws to tell him that this Cube was the most precious thing in this world.

"Appraise."

The Light Screen materialized.

[Talent Cube·Memories (Level 12)]

[Contains an item condensed from [Memories] as well as the talent ability of [Memories]]

[Memory Item: An ordinary stone, plain and featureless, but perhaps this stone came from a world this talent owner once visited?]

[Talent: Memories]

[Uses Remaining: 10/10]

[Upon use, consumes a large amount of Spirit to construct a memory space of past experiences. Everything within the space is false, yet everything within it was once real.]

["Whoever you are—if I failed to be resurrected, please give this stone to Heinz, the Mayor of Utopia City. Tell them. The Memory Item I constructed cannot serve as the Beacon of Memories they desire. This is the limit of Memories, and my limit as well. But one thing I can be certain of. Even if the train keeps reversing, it can never return to the world before entering the Wasteland. Rather than that, it's better to choose to move forward. The world we once inhabited might just exist somewhere in the Wasteland, waiting for the Train Conductors to explore."]
