Tokyo Ghoul: I am Mad

Chapter 414 - 414: Their Daughter, Airi

Their next destination: the Ferris wheel.

They queued until it was their turn, then followed the staff's guidance into an empty gondola.

As the door closed, the wheel slowly began to rotate.

Inside the gondola, Byakuya and Hairu sat side by side.

Before long, Hairu rose and settled onto Byakuya's lap, positioning herself face-to-face with him.

Since Byakuya was taller, sitting on his lap brought their eyes to the same level.

"Ready? Here I come."

Before fulfilling the wager, Hairu gave a soft warning.

"Go ahead."

Byakuya nodded slightly.

Hairu leaned in and offered her kiss.

Their lips met and lingered, neither pulling away for a long moment.

Though this wasn't Byakuya and Hairu's first kiss, it was the first time Hairu had initiated.

After what felt like an eternity, they finally separated.

Hairu said nothing, turning her head to gaze out the window at the scenery.

On a Ferris wheel ride, enjoying the view was naturally one of the main attractions.

Byakuya didn't break the silence, letting the moment be.

...

After about ten minutes, the Ferris wheel completed one full rotation.

Byakuya and Hairu stepped out of the gondola.

This was only the third attraction. They had no intention of ending their amusement park trip so soon.

Next came the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Monsters Inc., and many more—each to be experienced in turn.

The Haunted Mansion was essentially a classic "haunted house."

It was filled with decorations and staff dressed as ghosts and monsters, all set in a massive, eerie Gothic mansion. The challenge was to explore the mansion and find your way out.

"Hairu, some of those ghosts in there will be staff members in costume."

Before entering, Byakuya specifically reminded her.

He was worried Hairu might get startled and accidentally hurt someone—that would be a problem.

"Don't worry, Byakuya-senpai. I'm not a child. There's no way I'd be scared by people in costumes."

Hairu smiled.

"Good, just making sure."

Byakuya felt relatively reassured.

Given Hairu's combat style, being scared by haunted house ghouls was essentially impossible.

That said, it meant this attraction wouldn't be particularly entertaining for them.

Byakuya and Hairu both maintained expressionless faces throughout.

Moreover, the costumed staff members recognized Byakuya and didn't dare perform their usual scares—afraid they might somehow offend him and face consequences...

...

After experiencing well over a dozen attractions, the remaining ones were mostly geared toward children. Byakuya and Hairu decided to skip those.

By now, Hairu was more than satisfied.

"We can probably head back now. I had a really great time today."

Hairu's smile was radiant.

"No rush. We came all the way to this amusement park—we have to try the food here. Let's check out the dining area."

Byakuya knew Hairu loved good food, especially sweets. The park's food court was a must.

"Yes!"

At the mention of food, Hairu perked up immediately.

They didn't leave until they'd sampled every dish that looked appetizing.

Only then did their amusement park adventure come to a satisfying end.

On the way back, Hairu suddenly asked, "Do you go on dates like this often with Akira-san and the others, Byakuya-senpai?"

"Actually, no. We rarely have dates..."

Byakuya answered honestly.

He really wasn't the type who knew how to plan dates...

"I see..."

Hairu showed no outward reaction, but inside, she felt a small flutter of happiness.

...

Some time passed.

The day finally arrived when Byakuya and Rize's daughter was due to be born.

Though Rize was a ghoul, Tokyo's hospitals had begun accepting ghoul patients. The CCG-affiliated hospital was naturally the first to implement this policy.

Rize came to this hospital for the delivery.

The labor process was painful, but as a ghoul, Rize had a much higher pain tolerance than humans. She remained silent throughout, eyes closed, expression neutral, waiting for the outcome—one hand clasped tightly in Byakuya's.

Byakuya stayed by her side the entire time.

How much time passed, he couldn't say. But the delivery was successful.

Rize's body regenerated rapidly—a miraculous healing ability that left the attending doctors and nurses in awe.

When the doctor brought out the cleaned and swaddled newborn, Byakuya carefully took his daughter into his arms.

"Airi. Welcome to this world."

A tender, fatherly smile spread across Byakuya's face, even though this was his first time being a father.

Amaha Airi—that was the name he and Rize had chosen.

It held no special meaning. They simply both thought it sounded beautiful.

Just then, little Airi seemed to hear Byakuya's call. Though she had just been born, her eyes slowly fluttered open.

"!"

Byakuya noticed immediately: Airi's left eye was a kakugan—she was a one-eyed ghoul, a natural-born half-ghoul just like Eto.

But that wasn't all. Her right eye wasn't a normal black pupil—it was a one-tomoe Sharingan...

This meant little Airi had been born with an awakened Sharingan!

Though it wasn't as impressive as Indra's innate three-tomoe Sharingan, being born with any Sharingan at all was remarkable enough.

This was likely due to Byakuya's own bloodline, combined with the constant flow of his power that had nurtured Airi while she was still in Rize's womb.

"That eye... did she inherit it from you?"

Rize, who had been lying down, was already fully recovered. Sitting up, she noticed the unusual quality of Airi's eyes and turned to Byakuya with the question.

"Yes..."

Byakuya nodded.

"That's wonderful. But no matter what, I just want our daughter to live a safe, happy life. Look how adorable she is..."

Rize's gaze softened with maternal warmth. In this moment, she was no longer the ruthless "Binge Eater."
