Hero Still Be the Heroine

"You can’t kill it!!" Regan shouted loudly after seeing Ellie summoned her special weapon, which, despite resembling a gardening tool, Regan could still feel the hidden magic power in the rake.

"You may not know this, but this creature is called a demonic beast! After they die, the toxin will enter the body of the one who kills it immediately," Regan hurriedly informed Ellie.

"But if so, who will kill it?"

"You are too young; if the toxin enters your body, you won’t be able to handle it, unlike me, a professor," Regan gritted his teeth, thinking that today might even be his last.

Seeing Regan’s self-sacrifice filled Ellie’s eyes with immense respect. Who would have thought that this proud professor would appear to protect his students when the time came?

It was like the respect Ellie had for Professor Medik. There was still two respectable professors existed in this world...

"Professor, in that case, wouldn’t it be better if we just drove it away?" Ellie suggested. If she used her rake to push it out of the area, perhaps both could be safe.

Regan remained silent, not responding. It seemed he also thought of driving it away, but it was clear that this demonic beast had something it wanted from his student. If they didn’t kill it now, it might become a problem later.

Although it seemed like they had a long time to consult, it was actually just a few seconds. When the small demonic beast was blown away by Regan’s storm, it was slightly dazed before its anger surged. Its eyes, pitch black, became a focal point for demonic power. Its body, once as small as a palm, suddenly grew to the size of a large dog.

"Damn! It’s gone berserk!" Regan cursed, frustrated. Once a demonic beast went berserk, it became very difficult to drive away. It seemed they would have to fight for their lives.

The squirrel-shaped demonic beast, now enlarged, lunged rapidly at both of them. Its tail struck first, after its claws failed to harm them. A loud "boom" echoed, shaking and shattering the surrounding rocks, but luckily, both Ellie and Regan avoided the attack.

- Bush-Tailed Squirrel, Level 0: Capabilities include enhancing the speed of a monster imbued with demonic toxin, capable of enlarging its body after entering a berserk mode. Beware of the danger from demonic toxin entering the body.

A data window that was not helping to manage the demonic beast in front of her appeared, and amidst the dust and smoke from a recent attack, Ellie found herself in a moment of opportunity. When the demonic beast was distracted by the storm created by Professor Regan, hesitant to launch a lethal attack. Seizing the chance, she immediately activated an option on her rake!

"Channel botanic magic power into the tool to sweep away unwanted things from the target," Ellie stuck with the third option as before. The level 5 rake was immensely powerful, and before the giant squirrel’s body could reach Professor Regan, forcing him to use high-level power, the rake increased in size and dragged the enormous body of the demonic beast away from the spot just in time.

After the needle storm barely grazed the head of the demonic squirrel, if it had done its job, Professor Regan would have received the demonic toxin by now.

Given that killing a level 0 beast was not challenging at all, Professor Regan could have done it in the blink of an eye, but the only restriction was that they should not kill it. The consequences of killing a demonic beast were severe; it’s better just to drive it away.

"Are you alright, Professor?" Ellie asked, seeing Regan sweating from the close brush with disaster. Regan quickly regained his composure, realizing the power of the rake was formidable. He then used his own storm power, hoping to blow the demonic beast far away.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The large demonic beast suddenly shrank to the size of a palm. It darted through the air gap and lunged directly at Ellie, the owner of the rake, aiming to kill this fearless girl first.

Once out of Regan’s storm zone, it transformed back into a larger form. Its massive claws targeted Ellie’s face, intending to kill her with a single strike!

Ellie could no longer use the third option of the rake as the cooldown for using this option was still 5 seconds. In that critical moment, she opted for the first option, which she had never used before.

"Option one: Channel botanic magic power into the tool to break down objects!"

She felt her botanic power slowly flowed into the Spirit Rake. It trembled lightly before a window appeared in front of Ellie for her to specify. Her small hands worked quickly under pressure. Just 2 seconds before the deadly claws reached her, Ellie had broken down the ground around her feet into a deep hole of 10 centimeters.

With a level 5 Spirit Rake and her level 2 magic power, Ellie could have decomposed the squirrel in front of her completely, but she chose to dodge instead.

Suddenly, Ellie’s body dipped low, and she ducked her head, narrowly avoiding the attack. The squirrel, confident it would take her life, lose its balance and tumble over.

Regan quickly reached Ellie, helping the strong young woman he underestimated with admiration. Eventually, he decided to protect and support this student firmly, willing to sacrifice himself and take on the demonic toxin instead.

"You no longer need to get involved in the fight; I will handle it myself," Regan said. Ellie immediately grabbed his shirt.

"Professor, let’s try again." She didn’t want Regan to make such a sacrifice here. However, it seemed Regan had already made up his mind.

"This is my command; you don’t need to make decisions for me," Regan pulled his shirt back, his eyes narrowing dangerously as his spear storm formed. If released, the attack would surely kill the demonic squirrel facing them.

However, during this critical moment, a foolish man suddenly appeared.

"Yaah!! I’m here to help!!" He shouted, as he leaped forward with his muscular body and handsome face, easily reaching the demonic beast.

"Do not kill it, it is a demonic beast!" Regan shouted a warning to the student who had appeared out of nowhere, but Wint wouldn’t listen.

"I’ve heard your conversation with the scholarship student. I admire your courage and that of the scholarship student. Therefore, let me take over from here." Wint smiled, sincerely expressing his appreciation at both of them.

Seeing his strange behavior, even Regan was taken aback...Who would have thought that Wint, a man obsessed with fighting and justice, would appear here? And he even claimed to have heard their entire conversation. This hero-syndrome guy was too into the story, wasn’t he? ...Certainly, Ellie understood correctly.

Nara, hiding not far away, clenched her fist. She really wanted to smash this foolish, muscle-headed man’s head. Despite her telling him to hide beside her, he still jumped into the fray, risking his life!

Wint turned back to face the squirrel, which was now growling and threatening him. Their battle began, with Wint intent on killing the squirrel, completely ignoring Professor Regan’s warnings.

"A hero must sacrifice!" As he finished speaking, his shield and sword clashed with the squirrel, sending it flying, grievously wounded and nearly dead.

As it lay in such a state, the craziness in its eyes gradually faded. It realized that the human in front of it was a hotheaded fool, not afraid like the first two opponents. The large squirrel thus quickly shrank to the size of a palm and disappeared amidst the dust from the fight.

"Urgh!! Did I really let it escape like that?!" Wint was incredibly frustrated. He looked everywhere for the demonic squirrel but couldn’t find it. His sacrifice had not turned out as planned, how could he not be disappointed?!

After seeing that Wint couldn’t kill the demonic squirrel, Regan sighed deeply, wanting to scold this thick-headed kid with many harsh words. But before he could say anything, a woman’s scream pierced the air.

Behind the bushes, Ellie had verified it was Nara hiding there. It was clear she had come with Wint and had been hiding there for a long time. After hearing that the demonic beast would release a toxin into the soul, causing problems later, she chose not to come out and help. She even asked Wint to quietly stay hidden with her.

If it weren’t for Wint’s love for battle like this, perhaps Regan would have already killed the demonic beast.

"Screech! Get out, ah!" Nara’s scream rang out. Wint immediately leaped forward before he witnessed the brutal scene of the little squirrel being killed by a random rock thrown by Nara.

"Ugh!"

"Y-You. Are you hurt?" Wint almost lost his mind when he finally found the demonic squirrel he had been searching for, but discovered it dead, struck down by a stone—and the killer was none other than "Nara," the woman who had told him not to interfere in the fight!

A black aura swiftly entered Nara’s forehead and vanished before anyone could react. Even Wint was left agape at the scene. Nara was shocked beyond measure, seeing something sinister invade her body and knowing it was the "demonic toxin" that could corrupt people into malevolence. She collapsed, her eyes widened with horror and then fell unconscious, causing Wint to rush to catch her frail body.

"So, it turns out...It turns out that you planned to sacrifice yourself all along. It’s no wonder you are someone I admire," Wint said with a smile. Ellie, witnessing such foolishness, couldn’t help but smile—No! In fact, it could be said that she almost burst out laughing, if only the man beside her wasn’t Regan, furrowing his brows, contemplating how to handle his own emotions at this moment.

If Nara could hear what Wint was saying now, she might have thumped him on the head and slammed him against the wall...What did he mean by planning to sacrifice herself? What did it mean to be admired by a fool!? She didn’t want to get involved at all. If she knew following Ellie would lead to an encounter with a demonic beast, would Nara foolishly come here?

Who would have thought that her curiosity would instead draw disaster upon herself? Actually, she just wanted to know where Ellie was staying and with whom, since she hadn’t seen the other party staying in the communal tents. As for Wint, she just invited him to join her before they had to do the task as the priest’s assistants, but who could have imagined everything would go so wrong!

"You...take her and let her rest," Regan didn’t know what else to say at the moment and simply gestured for Wint to take Nara to rest. Otherwise, he might get a headache dealing with the other’s bizarre ideas.
