This Heroine's Friend Has the Power of Botany
Chapter 306: Magic
Chapter 306
Magic
"Alright, but you must not do anything dangerous."
"Okay, understood," Ellie quickly agreed before summoning her once-little beast, which was no longer small.
"Vi Vee!!" The little rabbit, now about 3 meters tall, appeared with rainbow-colored wings on its back, attracting everyone’s attention. Well...such a peculiar beast was something they had never seen before.
After its last evolution, the little rabbit was no longer the same. Even if Ellie summoned it out now, no one would connect this beast to the tiny Nocturnal Rabbit that once followed Hunter Luke.
Owen watched the girl who was excited for the battle. He sighed softly and sent a lightning spell forward, enveloping both of them. At the very least, any attack weaker than his power would not penetrate this protective shield.
Mounted on her little rabbit, Ellie directed it to fly towards Aman. The young man was currently in a dire situation. He was tasked with being in the first group to attract the enemy’s attention, making him the most at risk. Despite this, Aman refused to give up. He stood his ground, fighting to prevent the stone golems from advancing, or else it would be like letting them to multiply.
"Second Young Lord!" Ellie called out as the golems released another round of magic power, causing everyone to panic.
Boom, boom, boom!!
"You!!" Aman was the most shocked of all the people, but when he saw that the giant rabbit could narrowly dodge the blasts, he sighed in relief.
"Are you insane?!! Go back to be with my brother right now."
"You’re the one who’s insane. I’m here to help."
"Don’t talk about danger with such a straight face. You’re just making yourself a burden."
"Hmm?" Ellie glanced him over from head to toe. The one who looked worse off was definitely him. Besides...she wasn’t there to engage in a life-or-death battle but to show them how to end it.
Ellie said no more and instructed her little rabbit, which couldn’t use its powers without moonlight—a significant weakness. But the little rabbit didn’t need its powers for this; Ellie was there to demonstrate.
"One, two, three, four, gather the magic power at the eyes, and then..."
Boom, boom, boom, boom!!!
"Start again. One, two, three, four, gather the magic power at the eyes..." Ellie instructed the little rabbit to fly towards the stone golem, knowing it was about to launch another attack. However, even as the seconds ticked by...the stone golem did not release its magic power. This unusual behavior left the onlookers amazed.
"Start again. One, two, three, four, gather the magic power at the eyes...If we can disrupt them now, the magic power won’t be released. Their fighting pattern has changed. They’re not attacking physically anymore, see? They’re just advancing and focusing on gathering magic power to attack."
Ellie then jumped onto the head of a magic stone golem. She did nothing but count, "One, two, three, four, gather the magic power." At the end of her count, she tapped the golem’s head again, causing it to freeze. Then, Ellie started counting again.
Seeing the girl’s seemingly playful antics left everyone stunned. They watched the golem behaving like a dumb stone. Aman was the first to have the courage. Partly because he trusted Ellie more than anyone. She had come all the way here to tell them this, so he couldn’t just ignore her efforts.
The young man leaped upward. Though he was a bit slow, allowing the golem to release its magic power, Aman simply moved behind another golem, knowing they could resist magic power, so he was safe and sound.
He then jumped onto a stone golem’s head and mimicked Ellie’s counting and then tapped slightly on its head. To his surprise, he too stopped the magic power from gathering!
"Ha! These dumb stone golems were just tricking us." Once one group understood, the others noticed the strange movements and the Setter family hunters finally realized what they needed to do.
Seeing the hunters starting to mimic her, Ellie sighed. It turned out her understanding was correct. The stone golems worked like typical magical devices or stratagems, and there was a way to stop them. As the hunters climbed onto the golems’ heads like monkeys and others destroyed them one by one, victory soon became theirs.
After the enemies were dealt with, Ellie walked on the ground among the others. The elder ordered everyone to rest and recover their strength. The eldest young lord didn’t object, as many were injured from the earlier battles. Without rest, more problems could arise later.
Ellie didn’t do much beyond helping them with potions. Some needed restorative potions but couldn’t move to take them, so she assisted in administering the doses. Those who weren’t injured or only slightly injured helped out as well. Ellie was another who worked without showing the slightest distaste.
Some hunters felt embarrassed. The sour smell kept reaching their noses, and whenever they turned, they saw the dark, stern face of the eldest young lord watching them. Who could comfortably accept potion from the future lady under such circumstances?
Even if they wanted to refuse, they feared offending the lady of the house and, by extension, the eldest young lord. So, they ended up opening their mouths wide like baby birds and closing their eyes to avoid seeing the lady’s face too closely. Fortunately, this turned out to be the right decision, and Death wouldn’t claim them just yet.
“My lady, whether it was about using level 5 weapons or stopping the stone golems’ attacks, I must thank you,” an elder stepped forward to sincerely express his gratitude. These words of thanks echoed in the hearts of everyone else, elders and hunters alike. They had been guided by this young girl twice already.
Previously, many hadn’t understood why the eldest young lord and the head of the Setter family paid so much attention to this commoner girl. But now, they began to see that she was anything but ordinary.
What kind of woman would jump onto a stone golem’s head, sing a rhythmic song, and then tap the golem’s head in sync? This image would be etched in their minds for a long time. Whether it was the fact that the golems were level 5 weapons or how to stop them, they believed this guidance didn’t come from the eldest young lord. He had told them to observe and figure it out themselves.
Heh, heh, even though the eldest young lord’s method was to teach them a lesson, where would they find the time to observe? It shouldn’t be forgotten that they weren’t strong enough to stand calmly and analyze things. They knew that they were weak, as did the elders. Their abilities were only useful in these early stages. Going forward, they’d probably just have to sit back and watch the intense battles fought by the eldest young lord and his team.
But according to the tower’s rules, if they didn’t contribute, they wouldn’t receive any rewards upon leaving. So, all they wanted was to take down a few enemies. However, the eldest young lord wasn’t merciful to these little birds at all...
"I’m also joining you all, so I must give my best in this fight." Her small eyebrows furrowing slightly to show her displeasure. However, Aman, who was next to her, couldn’t help but feel annoyed.
"Why don’t you try saying, “What are you thanking me for? I only wanted to help you, please don’t think of it as a favor”? That would satisfy them. You talk as if you’re one of the hunters, a fighter of the family."
"With your status, you can’t say that...If you didn’t want to join the fight, Eldest Brother would have hidden you in the safest place. Or if you wanted to participate, even if it meant taking down the last enemy, Eldest Brother would fight to the death and drag the last breathing foe to you to finish."
Aman pouted, and Ellie shook her head in boredom.
"Only you would think like that."
"Oh? You think Eldest Brother doesn’t think that way? Look at him. Seeing you leap into the fight, he almost rushed to protect you. If he weren’t afraid you’d feel uncomfortable with him glued to you, he’d probably be sitting on the golem’s head with you."
Aman pointed at his brother, and indeed, Owen was watching Ellie intently. Seeing this, Ellie blushed slightly. Just imagining the eldest young lord sitting on a golem’s head with her was a hilarious thought.
“Second Young Lord, aren’t you afraid...” an elder glanced at Owen nervously. Seeing the second young lord speak so informally to the young lady of the house in front of the eldest young lord made him worried.
The eldest young lord hadn’t been fond of speaking with his younger brother. Wouldn’t such words provoke his anger?
"What? You all might get cut down, but as his beloved little brother, I’ll be fine, right?" Aman winked at Ellie before calling out loudly.
"Brother, Ellie wants some snacks. I brought some for her." Aman smiled like a puppy, pulling out some dried snacks. Ellie paused slightly, and so did everyone else.
In this life-threatening challenge, did the second young lord really have dried snacks in his bag?!! What kind of situation was this? They couldn’t understand at all.
Owen walked over slowly and looked at the girl. Ellie knew Aman was full of schemes, but she didn’t want to waste the snack. So, she took it and ate it in one bite. Aman chuckled softly. While the other hunters were still puzzled, Owen suddenly touched his dimensional ring and tossed a dagger to Aman.
"Thank you, Brother." The white-haired young man laughed so hard his body swayed. However, any weapon given by his brother couldn’t be of low level. Aman hurried to the elders to have it inspected.
“T-This...this is a level 6 dagger!!”
"Haha, thank goodness I brought the snacks." Aman stroked the dagger happily. Previously, only 8 people in the family had level 6 weapons. In just a few seconds, Aman, who carried the dried snacks that no one would have thought he would take up space in his bag for such nonsense, had turned one piece of snack into a level 6 weapon!!
"Admire the Second Young Lord immensely!!"
"Indeed, he’s the Demon of our Setter family. A piece of snack turns into a level 6 weapon just like that."
"Who said the Second Young Lord had lost it? Look at that...does he look like someone who brought snacks just for himself?"
"Amazing, but what kind of situation is this? I...I’m completely confused now." The family hunters murmured among themselves, stunned by what the second and eldest young lords had done.
Ellie accepted another snack from Owen. She truly wanted to tell him that she didn’t really want to eat snacks, but Aman was simply scheming. However, she didn’t say anything. While everyone else was resting, she decided to accept this gesture of kindness and take a break with him as well.
The warm actions of the eldest young lord were truly commendable. She knew he didn’t do anything without a reason. Sure, he might have wanted to reward Aman for giving her the snack, but in the end...he was just a very caring brother.Previously, his little brother was just a monkey jumping around to attract the enemy’s attention. Maybe seeing this had been annoying for Eldest Young Lord Owen. Giving Aman a level 6 weapon that got along with him like this showed that he had planned it all along. This level 6 weapon had been prepared for Aman, and he had just been waiting for the right opportunity to give it to him...
