When Du Heng saw that familiar back, all the unhappiness and troubles in his heart vanished.

"Sister-in-law, when did you arrive? Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Du Heng was a little excited.

He had been raised by his sister-in-law since he was seven years old. Their bond was far deeper than a typical relationship between a brother-in-law and sister-in-law could explain; Du Heng wouldn't have objected if someone called her his mother.

His sister-in-law, Zhang Sumei, didn't turn around. While busy stir-frying, she found a moment to say, "I arrived this afternoon. Xiao Kang bought the plane ticket for me and even took me to the airport. Otherwise, I wouldn't have even known how to get in; it's so big! Quick, go wash your hands and get ready for dinner. You've been at the Hospital all day; your hands must be covered in germs."

Du Heng walked over to the kitchen sink, turned on the faucet, and quickly rinsed his hands. "You didn't give me a heads-up that you were coming. I would have picked you up."

His sister-in-law didn't even glance at him, continuing to stir-fry. "What's there to say? You're busy with work, and with Nannan's pregnancy, it's inconvenient for her. Telling you would have just troubled you both. I called Tingting and had her pick me up; that was enough. Let's serve the food. Time to eat."

At the dinner table, after taking a couple of bites, Du Heng asked again, "Sister-in-law, why didn't my brother come?"

"I'm here to look after Nannan. What would he come for?" His sister-in-law chuckled, placing a helping of food into Wu Shengnan's bowl, and said casually, "Your brother will come after Nannan gives birth, for the child's Baby Steps."

Du Heng's heart warmed; he was truly at a loss for words regarding his sister-in-law's kindness. "Sister-in-law, you don't need to go to so much trouble. I've already found a nanny. She'll start working next month when we move into our new house."

Zhang Sumei paid no mind to Du Heng's words, continuing to put food into Wu Shengnan's bowl. "The nanny has her work, and I have mine. Just don't you worry about it."

Only now was Wu Shengnan truly experiencing the kind of care a pregnant woman deserved. She could just focus on eating; everything else was taken care of for her. Her bowl was always filled with food she loved.

Even though Du Heng had taken good care of her before, a man, after all, could never be as meticulous or considerate as a woman in such matters.

After heartily devouring two bowls of rice, Wu Shengnan comfortably settled onto the sofa. "Sister-in-law, this is the most satisfying meal I've had since coming to the Capital."

Regardless of whether Wu Shengnan truly meant it, Zhang Sumei was very pleased to hear her words. "As long as you like my cooking, that's all that matters."

"Sister-in-law, it's great that you're here. How about you come with me to look at the house tomorrow?" Wu Shengnan turned to Zhang Sumei. "The renovation company said the house is ready. We can go take a look, and if there are no issues, we can pick a day in the next few days to move."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Sumei quickly said, "You shouldn't move into a newly renovated house right away, should you? I've heard that newly renovated houses have toxic fumes and need to be aired out thoroughly."

Wu Shengnan quickly explained to Zhang Sumei that it wasn't a major renovation like she was thinking. They had simply repainted the walls and replaced a few pieces of furniture, and quite some time had passed since then.

Only then did Zhang Sumei stop trying to dissuade her and agreed to go with Wu Shengnan to take a look. They decided they would check the house together and then tidy it up or arrange things further according to their own preferences.

With his sister-in-law there, Du Heng's heart was finally at ease.

The next day at work, Du Heng first headed to the outpatient service. He saw many patients throughout the morning, but the young man from the previous day never showed up.

Just when Du Heng was thinking that the young man might have returned to his hometown or gone to another hospital, he walked in as the afternoon work period began, accompanied by another man and a woman.
