This Doctor Is Too Wealthy
Chapter 1163 - 1163: 758 An unexpected recommendation
On the second day of work, Du Heng first busied himself with his own tasks, finishing the department's work ahead of schedule.
Then he went to the Nephrology Department to check on the dancer from yesterday.
After further questioning and confirming that there was no lingering discharge and that the patient no longer experienced a burning sensation at the urethral meatus when urinating, Du Heng finalized matters with Director Niu.
Back in his department, Du Heng sought out the resident doctor again. "Did that young man from yesterday come in?"
The resident doctor shook his head. "No, he didn't come to the department, nor did he call."
Du Heng clicked his tongue. "Alright, let's wait a little longer. If he still doesn't show up, please give him a call to check."
The resident doctor nodded to show he understood, then asked Du Heng curiously, "Director, what do you think caused that young man's symptoms?"
This question stumped Du Heng.
After going home last night, he had actually spent the entire evening pondering this very issue.
However, in the end, he couldn't arrive at a logical explanation.
Through various examinations, it was now quite certain that the young man was perfectly fine; he had no medical problems whatsoever.
So, the problems he experienced could only have been caused by someone sleeping with him and pressing down on him.
But the issue was, he was single, so it was impossible for anyone to be pressing on him.
Even if there was someone, the only possibility would be the girl he shared the rental with.
But was that plausible?
How disturbed would that girl have to be to sneak into the bed of a man she didn't know in the middle of the night, and remain undiscovered for so long? Was that even possible?
Du Heng shook his head. "I can't say for sure. Let's wait for him to arrive and see what he recorded."
Just as he finished speaking with the resident doctor, a young nurse at the nurse station called out.
"What's wrong?"
"The Proctology Department called. They're requesting you for a consultation."
"Alright, I understand," Du Heng nodded helplessly.
While on duty in the department, consultations were a necessary part of the job.
Sometimes, it was a 'Take it Easy' situation, and you might not get a single consultation call all day long.
But at other times, before one consultation was even over, a call for another would already have come in.
However, now that the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department had been split, many requests for traditional Chinese medicine consultations went directly to the specialized sub-departments. Only when the TCM practitioners in those specialized departments couldn't handle a case would it finally be referred to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department.
Yet, often, such consultations were largely unnecessary.
They sought traditional Chinese medicine with the mentality of trying anything as a last resort, so the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department would usually just send an attending Physician to go through the motions.
What Du Heng didn't know was that this particular consultation had come to him through a recommendation from someone he would have never expected.
Inside the Proctology Department, Director Qian observed everyone's silence; he hadn't intended to say anything either.
An old man with an intestinal obstruction developed an intestinal adhesion a week after surgery and was now experiencing another partial intestinal obstruction.
What's the point of asking me, a Gastroenterologist, for help with this? My presence here is useless.
Frankly, the Proctology Department and the Gastroenterology Department can, to a large extent, be considered equivalent.
Can't someone who performs gastric surgery also perform intestinal surgery? Or, for that matter, can't someone who performs intestinal surgery also handle gastric or digestive tract procedures? What a joke.
If you were to investigate thoroughly, you'd find that these departments have all performed surgeries that technically fall under another's purview.
Take myself, for instance. As the Director of the Department of Digestive, I've performed no fewer than twenty surgeries for intestinal obstruction and intestinal torsion. If you included the deputy directors and attending Physicians, that number would be even higher.
The same applies to the Proctology Department.
So, if they're already out of options, what makes them think I'll have a solution?
However, seeing the Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Colorectal Department sitting on a stool, scratching his head, the patient's attending Physician from the Proctology Department looking grim, and his own department's Director looking pale, Qian felt a twinge of sympathy.
If they couldn't resolve this and had to forcibly operate on the old man again—setting aside whether the old man could even withstand another surgery—even if he did, the ensuing complaints alone would be enough to make these two tear their hair out from stress.
The Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Colorectal Department scratched his sparse hair, saying helplessly, "I've done all I can. I've discussed this house with my colleagues in the department, and we were all in agreement."
As he spoke, he silently placed the house on the table. "All diseases originate from anger, so the treatment for all conditions involving stagnation and obstruction focuses on regulating qi. The pivot for the triple burner qi transformation ascending and descending lies in the Spleen and Stomach. Therefore, treating qi involves tonifying the Spleen and descending Stomach qi. The Spleen thrives when its qi ascends, and the Stomach finds harmony when its qi descends..."
The Proctology Department Director waved his hand irritably. "Alright, alright, Old Lv, spare us the details. We won't understand it anyway. Just tell us, do you have any other methods or not?"
Director Lv of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Colorectal Department shook his head awkwardly. If only he had conceded defeat earlier, why did he have to say those extra few words? Wasn't he just making things uncomfortable for himself?
The Proctology Department Director's face shifted from pale to dark as he shot a fierce glare at his own attending Physician, who stood nearby with his head bowed.
But a glare was all he could offer. He couldn't truly vent his anger, because, frankly, this Thing had little to do with the attending Physician.
If he were to force the responsibility onto the attending Physician, it would only highlight that the attending's skills were lacking, and perhaps the surgery had taken a bit longer than ideal.
