This Bad Luck is Awesome!
Chapter 318 - 164: Fished Up a Spy Device
Chapter 318: Chapter 164: Fished Up a Spy Device
"Understood, President Wu."
The pilot immediately turned the boat around, increased the throttle, and headed back the way they came.
After turning back, no one dared to go to the stern anymore, so everyone gathered at the bow to drink and chat.
"Chen Mo, even though you reeled in that monster, you still got skunked."
Wu Zicong took a sip of his drink and started teasing Chen Mo again.
"That’s right. We’re already on our way back, and you still haven’t caught a single fish."
Tang Tianyu chimed in with a joke of his own.
"We haven’t reached the shore yet, have we?"
Chen Mo stood up, walked over to Tang Tianyu’s fishing rod, baited the hook, and cast it into the sea.
He also started letting out the line, making sure it was long enough.
"Chen Mo, you couldn’t catch anything when the boat was stopped. You really think you can catch a fish while we’re moving?"
Seeing Chen Mo’s actions, Old Zhang couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Might as well try. If I don’t catch anything, so be it."
Chen Mo shrugged nonchalantly.
He actually felt there was hope.
’After all, my luck just had a crazy turnaround. It should still be pretty good right now.’
Wu Zicong and the other two didn’t pay him much mind, and they all continued drinking and chatting.
WHIZZ... WHIZZ...
Just then, Chen Mo noticed the line on the rod was being pulled. He immediately put down his glass, went to the rod, and started reeling it in.
"No way! Did you actually get a bite?"
Seeing the tip of Chen Mo’s rod bend, the three of them looked on in utter astonishment.
Chen Mo reeled in the line quickly. This fish was much lighter than the Metal Black Fish from before.
As a result, reeling it in was smooth and effortless.
Before long, he saw a red sea fish splashing on the surface.
Once he’d reeled in all the line, he pulled the red fish onto the boat.
"Whoa, an East Sea Red Grouper! This one’s not small. Looks like it’s about four or five pounds."
Tang Tianyu couldn’t help but exclaim when he saw the fish Chen Mo had caught.
"This one fish is worth 1,200 to 1,500 yuan."
Old Zhang said with a smile, thinking about the recent market price for wild East Sea Red Grouper.
"Chen Mo, this one fish of yours is worth more than all the fish I’ve caught today combined."
"Quick, get some ice to preserve it! Don’t let it go to waste."
Wu Zicong quickly brought over a cooler filled with ice.
He unhooked the fish and placed it in the cooler.
"Just luck."
Chen Mo smiled and said humbly.
But inwardly, he was thinking, ’My lucky streak isn’t over yet.’
’Under normal circumstances, there’s no way I would’ve caught an East Sea Red Grouper while the boat was moving.’
’Since my luck hasn’t run out, I might as well milk it for all it’s worth and try again.’
Chen Mo baited the hook once more and cast it out.
And so, Chen Mo began to ruthlessly exploit his newfound luck.
"That’s a fourfinger threadfin, also known as a ma yau! Looks like it’s over a pound—worth over a hundred yuan."
"This one’s a red sea bream! Looks to be around three pounds, so that’s almost a thousand yuan."
"This is..."
It was as if Chen Mo had become a fishing god; the moment his hook hit the water, he got a bite.
And he wasn’t catching just any ordinary fish; they were almost all rare and valuable species.
In just a short while, Chen Mo had caught more fish than the other three combined.
"I wanted to hang out with you guys as a normal person, but all I got in return was ridicule."
"Fine, I won’t hide it anymore. I’m a master angler. There, I said it."
Seeing the dumbfounded expressions on Tang Tianyu and the others, Chen Mo couldn’t resist showing off.
’So, you three were mocking me for getting skunked, huh?’
’Who’s getting skunked now?’
"Is my fishing rod really that amazing?"
Eager to try, Tang Tianyu went over to Chen Mo, took the rod, and cast a line himself.
’Chen Mo is using my rod. Maybe there’s something special about it?’
However, after he took the rod, a long time passed with no reaction at all.
"Damn it! The fish in this part of the sea must be able to recognize people!"
With no bites after a long while, Tang Tianyu’s confidence was shattered. He put down the rod, sat back on the sofa, and started muttering curses.
"Like I said, it’s the person, not the rod."
Chen Mo took a sip of his drink. Now it was his turn to mock Tang Tianyu.
Tang Tianyu wanted to argue, but the image of Chen Mo reeling in one fish after another left him speechless.
The group chatted and drank, and before long, the yacht returned to the marina they had departed from.
They had set out in the morning, and by the time they returned, it was already noon.
At the marina, many official-looking vehicles were parked.
A number of people in uniform were waiting for them on the docks.
After the yacht docked, Chen Mo was the first to disembark and step onto the pier.
Upon seeing Chen Mo, Feng Yu immediately approached him with several staff members from a special department.
"Chen Mo, this is Captain Li."
"Captain Li, this is Mr. Chen."
Feng Yu made the introductions between Chen Mo and the officials.
"Hello, Mr. Chen. Where is the item?"
Captain Li was all business. After a brief greeting, he immediately asked about the Metal Black Fish.
"It’s on the boat. I’ll take you to it."
Chen Mo was also eager to hand the object over to them.
That thing was a ticking time bomb. It would be terrible if it suddenly self-destructed and damaged Wu Zicong’s yacht.
Soon, Chen Mo led Feng Yu, Captain Li, and their team onto the boat.
Heading straight for the stern, Captain Li and his men first showed surprise upon seeing the Metal Black Fish, but their expressions quickly turned grave.
"A new type of device!"
Even Captain Li had never seen such a thing, and here it was, in their coastal waters.
They had to figure out the purpose of this new device as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, they would have to conduct a large-scale search to see if there were any more.
"Mr. Chen, this thing you’ve reeled in is very important. We need to take it with us."
"Thank you for notifying us immediately. We will now take it for analysis. If it is confirmed to be a surveillance device, we will issue you a reward."
Time was of the essence, so Captain Li cut to the chase and directly expressed his gratitude to Chen Mo.
If Chen Mo hadn’t caught this thing and notified them right away, who knows when they would have discovered it was in these waters.
Therefore, Chen Mo’s contribution was immense.
If the analysis revealed that this new type of device had gathered crucial information, his reward would undoubtedly be much larger than those typically given to fishermen.
