Chapter 269: Chapter 152: A Smell Too Strong to Hide

"The emperor’s new clothes would look even better."

Chen Mo teased, glancing at her.

"Chen Mo!"

At his words, Pan Kejia’s face flushed. Annoyed and embarrassed, she stomped her foot and shot him a glare.

’She instantly got what he meant, but there was no way she could wear the emperor’s new clothes outside.’

"Let’s get some breakfast. We’ll head out as soon as we’re done."

Chen Mo ordered two steamer baskets of soup dumplings. As soon as he sat down, he picked up his chopsticks and started eating.

These soup dumplings were tiny, so Chen Mo was basically eating them in a single bite.

Pan Kejia was much more elegant, taking two bites for each dumpling.

Chen Mo also bought two cups of soy milk. The soup dumplings were easy to choke on, so it was better to have something to drink.

Pan Kejia had a small appetite and only ate a few, so Chen Mo ended up eating a basket and a half.

After they finished eating, the two of them got in the car and set off.

Pan Kejia drove, while Chen Mo sat leisurely in the passenger seat.

His gaze shifted from the scenery outside to the long, pale legs inside the car.

Soon, they were on the highway.

Believe it or not, they’d "gotten up to speed" plenty of times, but this was their first time on an actual highway.

After driving for a while, they pulled into a service area.

And yes, a proper service area.

Chen Mo switched to the driver’s seat, got back on the highway, and drove toward Suzhou.

A little over an hour later, they arrived in Suzhou.

The first stop was naturally Zhuozheng Garden, one of the Four Great Classical Gardens.

Pan Kejia affectionately looped her arm through Chen Mo’s as they strolled through Zhuozheng Garden together.

Back in Modu, she rarely had a chance to be so openly intimate with Chen Mo.

It was basically always in a hotel room or some other enclosed space.

’She’d really been looking forward to this, just enjoying the feeling of walking under the sun with her arm in his.’

’Too bad she never dared to in Modu.’

’But there was nothing to be done. This was the path she had chosen, and she couldn’t blame anyone for it.’

Chen Mo led her on a tour from Shuxiang Hall to Wuzhu Residence, and then to the Thirty-Six Mandarin Duck Pavilion.

The weather was lovely today, and the light filtering through the stained-glass windows created shadows perfect for a couple’s photos.

Chen Mo took a lot of photos for Pan Kejia, and she took some of him as well.

Finally, they even asked a passing tourist to take a bunch of photos of them together.

For lunch, they grabbed a bite on Pingjiang Road.

They took a walk along the river and hit up some of the popular photo spots.

They also bought one of those trendy fans printed with scenic designs of Suzhou.

Afterward, they rode a traditional sculling boat, listening to the boatwoman hum a local tune, soaking in the charming atmosphere of a Jiangnan water town.

Next was Ouyuan Garden, the sunset over Golden Chicken Lake, and the Gate of the East.

All in all, they experienced everything there was to see and do.

It was a particularly complete and fulfilling trip.

’No, wait. It wasn’t quite complete, and not quite fulfilling enough.’

’But for it to be truly complete and fulfilling... that would have to wait until they were back at the Carlton in Modu.’

"Let’s go."

Chen Mo wrapped his arm around Pan Kejia’s slender waist and headed for the parking lot.

Pan Kejia was a little reluctant to go back to Modu.

It wasn’t that she couldn’t bear to leave this place; it was just that once they returned to Modu, Chen Mo would be Xia Shiqing’s boyfriend again.

She could only meet him at the Carlton, unable to walk with him openly under the sun.

"I’ll take you out more often in the future."

"Put on a mask, and who’s going to recognize us?"

Chen Mo patted her perky bottom and chuckled softly in her ear.

He could read her mood and knew what she was thinking.

In truth, it was Pan Kejia who was afraid of others finding out about their relationship; he didn’t care.

"Really?"

Hearing this, Pan Kejia’s head shot up in delight, her charming face filled with hope.

"If you don’t want to wear a mask, that’s fine too. I don’t care, and you don’t have to worry about her finding out."

Chen Mo nodded and said to her with a smile.

"I’m not that bold..."

Pan Kejia mumbled, but her mood had already brightened considerably. A happy smile returned to her face.

’She’d still have to be careful, but at least now she could go on dates with Chen Mo more often.’

"Back to Modu!"

She grabbed Chen Mo’s hand and hurried toward the parking lot.

"What’s the hurry?"

Chen Mo smiled and quickened his pace.

"I’m going to wear the emperor’s new clothes for you."

Pan Kejia glanced back with a captivating smile, giving him a flirtatious, seductive wink.
