Gu Rongjin was very surprised to hear that Chen Momo had rented a window booth. "If I remember correctly, the rent for a window booth isn’t cheap, is it?" he asked.

"The one Chen Momo rented is 5,000 base credits a month," Liu Hui Chun replied.

"It seems to me like she’s just wasting money," Gu Rongjin said coldly. "Doing business isn’t that simple."

Reading the look in Gu Rongjin’s eyes, Liu Hui Chun smiled. "Base Chief, her pickled mustard green fish is actually selling incredibly well. I’ve seen people lining up for it on several occasions. But this girl really does look young. At first, I thought she was only around twenty. I never expected her child to be so old."

Gu Rongjin remained unconvinced, but he didn’t want to waste any more time on the topic of Chen Momo. He changed the subject, moving on to discuss the base’s upcoming arrangements with Liu Hui Chun.

The three of them returned home.

Chen Momo immediately headed to the bathroom to take a shower. After selling food all day, she reeked of pickled mustard green fish and desperately needed a good wash.

Meanwhile, Xu Xiaoka and Chen Xiaobao were playing around in the living room. Suddenly, a knock sounded at the door.

"Coming!" Xu Xiaoka called out, getting up.

However, the moment she opened the door and saw Yang Shunsheng standing there, she frowned. The smile vanished from her face instantly. She blocked the doorway with her body, showing absolutely no intention of inviting him inside.

Looking somewhat awkward, Yang Shunsheng asked, "Little girl, is Momo... is she here? Could you ask her to come out? I want to say a few words to her."

"She’s not here," Xu Xiaoka said coldly. "Please don’t come around anymore. Sister Momo doesn’t want to see you!"

Yang Shunsheng felt even more embarrassed hearing this. He had heard earlier today that Momo and her son had been out selling fish all day, only packing up their stall around seven or eight in the evening. Initially, he hadn’t planned on offering them any financial help, but hearing how hard they were working had pricked his conscience. Behind Huang Yuqing’s back, he had exchanged their remaining two catties of rice for base credits to bring to Chen Momo.

After all, they had once been husband and wife, and Chen Xiaobao was his biological son. Seeing the mother and son struggling so much made him feel a twinge of pity.

"Momo trusted me so much, how could she possibly get involved with a new man so quickly?" he thought. "Xiao Bao must be lying to me... But how could such a young child lie? Could it actually be true? Does Chen Momo really have a boyfriend?"

Yang Shunsheng stood in front of Room 1608 for a long time before finally pocketing the 3,000-credit voucher and turning away, his footsteps heavy.

But Yang Shunsheng wasn’t the only one in shock; Xu Xiaoka was equally stunned. After following Chen Xiaobao into his room and closing the door, she looked at him in utter astonishment. "Xiao Bao, what nonsense are you sprouting? Your mom doesn’t have a boyfriend!"

The two of them quickly formed a united front.

After finishing her shower and changing into some loungewear, Chen Momo stepped out of the bathroom, completely unaware of Yang Shunsheng’s visit to bring money. She was even more oblivious to the fact that Xu Xiaoka and Chen Xiaobao were already plotting to find her a new partner. She only felt that the two of them were acting incredibly strange today.

"Xiao Bao, what are you grinning at me for?" Chen Momo asked suspiciously, towel-drying her hair as she stared at her son’s slyly smiling face. Based on how well she knew her son, that specific little expression meant he had definitely been up to no good.

Chen Xiaobao hadn’t meant to wear such an expression, but the moment he thought about how his mommy was going to have a new boyfriend soon, he couldn’t help but feel overjoyed. And when he was happy, he simply couldn’t hide his expressions.

"Did you break a toy?" Chen Momo guessed blindly, scrutinizing her son’s unusual face.

Chen Xiaobao shook his head, the smile on his face growing even brighter.
