Chapter 64: Chapter 63: Sauerkraut Fish Beauty

As he was lost in thought, Huang Yuqing’s roar echoed in his ears. "Yang Shunsheng, don’t even think about sneaking money to Chen Momo, do you hear me? She brought this all on herself!"

Yang Shunsheng snapped back to reality, shot her a glance, and frowned. Lately, he found her increasingly unreasonable. He had originally fallen in love with Huang Yuqing because she seemed gentle and considerate. However, ever since he divorced Chen Momo, Huang Yuqing had been gradually revealing her true colors. It was starting to fill him with a sense of disgust.

The tantalizing aroma of the sauerkraut fish drew a small crowd of onlookers.

"How much for a portion of this sauerkraut fish?"

"Five hundred."

"Five hundred? That’s too expensive."

Even though several people felt that five hundred was far too steep for a single dish, Chen Momo refused to budge on the price. Her sauerkraut fish was entirely different from what others were selling; someone who knew their stuff would eventually come along. She knew very well that a product’s price was intrinsically tied to its quality. Her dish used fresh fish and possessed an exquisitely savory flavor—it absolutely had to be priced higher.

Sure enough, a man dressed in a tailored suit and polished leather shoes walked in. He had deep-set eyes, golden hair, and a handsome face with features as finely chiseled as a sculpture. The mouthwatering scent of the sauerkraut fish had drawn him over.

"How much for a fish?" the man asked as he approached, eyeing the single serving of sauerkraut fish on display.

"Five hundred base credits," Chen Momo replied.

The man smiled faintly. His warm smile was like the gentle March sun, as if it could melt the accumulated snow outside the window. "Alright, I’ll take one."

With that, his slender fingers pulled out a card and tapped it against the machine in front of Chen Momo. With a sharp BEEP, five hundred base credits were deducted from his balance.

He offered Chen Momo another slight smile. "Thank you. If it’s good, I’ll come back to buy more next time."

Carrying the bowl of sauerkraut fish with his elegant fingers, the man headed over to a nearby dining table to eat. At that table sat several of his close friends, laughing and joking around. At first glance, they were clearly a bunch of wealthy playboys.

Seeing the young man approach with a bowl of sauerkraut fish, they immediately teased him. "Rong Hao, you used to feast on rare delicacies, and now you’ve resorted to sauerkraut fish. Your standard of living has plummeted more than just a little bit!"

Yi Ronghao merely smiled and placed the dish on the table. "Just trying out the taste of the sauerkraut fish."

Another of Yi Ronghao’s friends, Jiang Yunhai, was also an undeniable rich kid. Jiang Yunhai laughed mischievously. "Come on, don’t poke at Rong Hao’s sore spots. After graduating overseas, he was supposed to come home and take over the family business. But then, bam! The blizzard hit, the company is gone, and he’s been reduced to living in a ’refugee camp’!"

The rest of Yi Ronghao’s friends burst into boisterous laughter.

Yi Ronghao, however, didn’t see it that way. Although his family was incredibly wealthy, his father had only given him a meager allowance of ten million a month while he was studying abroad. Therefore, he had never truly considered himself rich. He just felt lonely.

Furthermore, right after he graduated from university overseas, his father had demanded he return home to take over the family business. Worst of all, they had arranged for him to marry a woman he had never even met—allegedly the daughter of another corporate dynasty. If that happened, he would be chained to his family for the rest of his life!

Thank goodness a massive blizzard had struck right after he returned. The family business was gone, the arranged marriage was gone, and he was finally free! Yi Ronghao never resented the snowstorm; on the contrary, he thanked it for saving him! Though life at the base couldn’t compare to his previous standard of living, freedom and happiness were priceless.

Take the bowl of sauerkraut fish right in front of him, for instance...

"Hurry up and taste it. See if it’s any good!" Yi Ronghao smiled brightly, urging the group.

His friend Jiang Yunhai grumbled in dissatisfaction, "It’s just sauerkraut fish, what could possibly be so good about it..."

Despite his words, he picked up his chopsticks, grabbed a piece of the fish, and popped it into his mouth. He didn’t know what to expect, but the moment he tasted it, he was blown away. Jiang Yunhai realized he had never eaten such delicious sauerkraut fish in his entire life! It melted in his mouth, the rich aroma filled his senses, the pickled greens were perfectly flavorful, and the fish was incredibly tender and fresh!

Nodding repeatedly, Jiang Yunhai said, "Mhm, this is delicious! Rong Hao, you have to try it!"

Yi Ronghao took a bite as well and was immediately captivated by the flavor. He had eaten his fair share of rare delicacies, but he had never tasted a sauerkraut fish like this before. Compared to this dish, all those expensive banquets meant nothing!

And so, Yi Ronghao and his four friends devoured the entire bowl of sauerkraut fish in one sitting. It was simply too mouthwatering!

Meanwhile, Chen Momo welcomed her second customer. The second customer was a very wealthy-looking lady, accompanied by her high-school-aged son. Despite the apocalyptic blizzard outside, the woman was meticulously dressed, still wearing her earrings, necklaces, and other jewelry. She looked like she was on vacation, not taking shelter in a refuge.

The lady had also been lured in by the aroma of the sauerkraut fish the moment she stepped into the cafeteria.

"I’ll have a portion of the sauerkraut fish as well," she said, paying the fee without a second thought.

The second portion of sauerkraut fish was just about ready to come out of the pot. Xiu Xiu unhurriedly scooped out the freshly cooked dish. A masterpiece of color, aroma, and taste was set before the lady, making her eyes light up.

"Thank you." She and her son carried the food over to an empty table to eat.

Seeing the mother and son give an enthusiastic thumbs-up as they ate, Xiu Xiu knew that they absolutely loved the flavor too.

At the same time, Yi Ronghao’s friends were badgering him. "Rong Hao, we still want more sauerkraut fish. Go order another one!"

Yi Ronghao glanced over at Chen Momo’s window, a troubled look crossing his face. "I... I’m out of money."

His friends stared at him in disbelief. "No way, right? Your family is loaded, and you’re actually saying you’re broke? You just don’t want to spend any more money to treat us, do you?"

"Do I look like a cheapskate to you?" Yi Ronghao explained. "I’m genuinely broke. The base exclusively uses base credits. My family’s hundreds of billions of RMB have turned into useless scrap paper. And those limited-edition sneakers and designer clothes of mine? Nobody even wants to buy them secondhand. So right now, just like you guys, I’ve got absolutely nothing."

Jiang Yunhai was also a second-generation heir and still had some base credits on hand. The sauerkraut fish was just too incredibly delicious—one portion wasn’t nearly enough to satisfy them!

So, Jiang Yunhai declared, "Hurry up and tell me where to buy that sauerkraut fish. I’ll go get it!"

Yi Ronghao pointed toward Chen Momo’s window. "There, from that young lady."

Following the direction of Yi Ronghao’s finger, Jiang Yunhai looked over and saw a young woman earnestly cooking up sauerkraut fish, with several diners waiting eagerly nearby.

Jiang Yunhai’s eyes lit up. "So she’s a ’Sauerkraut Fish Beauty’! This time, it’s my turn to buy!"
