Chapter 1552: Chapter 1569: Outbreak of Conflict 2

"I... I came to see Yaoling..." Xia Xiaonuan paused briefly, and instinctively blurted out.

"You actually have the nerve to come see my son? I heard he was injured after going out with you? Why are you here fine, while my son is hurt like this? Do you still have the face to visit him?"

Xiaonuan restrained her emotions and said, "I’m sorry, I didn’t expect things to turn out this way." Regardless, she is Nangong Yaoling’s mother, and she doesn’t want to argue with her here.

Lan Jinqin snorted coldly, looking at her with disdain: "You think playing the victim here will earn my sympathy? I’ve already told you, leave my son while you can. Being with him only brings him harm. What now? It’s just been a few days, and he’s back in the hospital again! You keep clinging to him, what’s your purpose?"

Xia Xiaonuan’s face turned pale at the words, she glanced at the passing onlookers eyeing them and said helplessly, "I don’t want to argue with you here. If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first."

Xia Xiaonuan finished speaking and turned to leave.

"Stop!" Lan Jinqin called out to her.

"What do you mean? Is this the attitude you have when an elder speaks to you? I truly doubt your mother, Mrs. Xia, is a well-mannered woman, how could she have given birth to someone as uncultured as you!"

Upon hearing this, Xia Xiaonuan’s body shuddered.

She clenched her teeth, turned around, looking at the disdainful and contemptuous expression on Lan Jinqin’s face, feeling a pang of pain in her heart.

One is her adoptive mother; the other is her biological mother.

Mrs. Xia knew she was not her biological daughter, yet treated her as her own; but the woman in front of her...

Thinking of the late Mrs. Xia, Xiaonuan felt her heart suddenly wrenched with pain.

Her anger surged, overwhelmed, she turned to confront Lan Jinqin.

"If you speak ill of me, that’s fine, but do not speak ill of my mother! She’s already passed away, please respect a deceased person’s soul!"

"I don’t respect her? Oh my, are you trying to scare me?" Lan Jinqin clutched her chest, feigning a startled expression.

Xia Xiaonuan sneered: "I don’t mean to scare you, but I want to tell you, Mrs. Xia was a good mother, she’s a hundred times stronger than many mothers in this world. Some women appear kind and noble on the outside, but may abandon their children and family for personal gain, yet she would sacrifice everything for her children and family..."

"You..." Lan Jinqin stared at Xia Xiaonuan with wide, frantic eyes. Suddenly, in a fit of rage, she reached out, attempting to hit Xia Xiaonuan.

Xia Xiaonuan had been slapped by her once before, but this time, she was not willing to be struck again.

She quickly extended her hand, grabbing Lan Jinqin’s arm.

"You have no right to hit me," she said coldly, as she looked into Lan Jinqin’s eyes that shifted from anger to shock, preparing to release her hand.

Suddenly, she felt something crash into her from behind.

Her body leaned slightly forward, then Mrs. Nangong shrieked and fell to the ground.

"Ah! Help! Assault! Assault!" Mrs. Nangong cried out instantly after she fell, sobbing loudly.

Xia Xiaonuan staggered to stand firm and instinctively placed a hand on her abdomen, turning around.

She saw nothing but a crowd of onlookers hurrying over; nothing else.

Just now... who pushed her?
