The Wild Doctor and the Fair Beauty
Chapter 563 - 563: Prince of the East
"Young Master Jiang, if it were really that simple, you wouldn't have had to come to Shanghai yourself. I could have handled these three major families and found the location of Mirror Lake Manor on my own," Nightingale said with a wry smile.
"Is your authority still not enough to make them submit?" Jiang Xinghai asked doubtfully.
Nightingale sighed. "I'm afraid that even if General Zhong came in person, she would only be on equal footing with the patriarchs of the three families."
"Are you talking about status and position?" Jiang Xinghai frowned.
Nightingale nodded. "Yes. The Cao Family Patriarch, Cao Qing, is known as the Prince of the East."
"Prince of the East? What a grand title!" Jiang Xinghai sneered.
"Young Master Jiang, they say the Prince of the East is a supreme master who has already stepped into the Human Emperor Realm. In terms of status and position, the Cao Family is extremely difficult to shake," Nightingale explained. "Moreover, we just extinguished any hope of survival for one of the Prince of the East's great-grandsons. This matter is quite thorny."
"I would have forgotten if you hadn't mentioned it. Curing illnesses and saving lives—that's what I'm good at."
A smirk played on Jiang Xinghai's lips as he let out a breath. "If the Prince of the East knows what's good for him and lets us freely investigate the islands under his family's control, I wouldn't mind stepping in to save his great-grandson."
Curing illnesses and saving lives was, after all, the principle behind his medical practice.
And since the patient was an infant, he wouldn't hesitate.
The main issue was that the Cao Family acted far too tyrannically.
To think they'd go to such lengths to find an infant with a matching blood type, intending to perform a heart transplant to save their own great-grandson, disregarding the life of another… Such actions were those of beasts.
"That's right. If Young Master Jiang steps in to save the Prince of the East's great-grandson, then we might be able to de-escalate the situation." Nightingale realized this as well, and a faint smile finally touched her lips.
However, she still felt the matter was too thorny.
'The Cao Family has probably already been notified by the police and learned that their long-planned scheme has failed.'
"Let's head straight to the Cao Family."
Jiang Xinghai reminded Nightingale again that time was short, and he didn't want to wait too long.
"Master, you mustn't."
Just then, Sun Zhen suddenly spoke up. "Master, have you perhaps forgotten Zhao Wenxiang's suggestion?"
"Er..."
Hearing this, Jiang Xinghai could only smile wryly again.
'Keep a low profile!'
Zhao Wenxiang had repeatedly reminded him to keep a low profile after arriving in Shanghai, not to rush to show his hand, and to avoid being targeted by schemers in the city who had their eyes on Mirror Lake Manor.
"Fine. Let's go out to sea. A little fishing wouldn't be so bad."
Jiang Xinghai had no time to wander around the city anyway. Feeling the gentle sea breeze, he closed his eyes.
"Alrighty, we have a yacht and fishing gear."
When Nightingale heard Jiang Xinghai cancel his decision to go to the Cao Family, her expression quickly softened with relief.
She, too, had naturally hoped that Jiang Xinghai would first rest and recover, formulate a more detailed plan, and then take them down one by one.
「Half an hour later.」
After the three of them had breakfast at a roadside stall, they arrived at the seaside.
Nightingale had already been investigating the islands, so they were indeed fully equipped with a yacht and fishing gear.
As the yacht slowly headed out to sea, Jiang Xinghai stood on the deck, holding a fishing rod.
Nightingale was helping him cast the bait. "We'll fish for a bit, rest, and then I'll take you for a tour of those islands."
"That was my intention as well."
This was also why Jiang Xinghai had chosen to go sea fishing.
Since Mirror Lake Manor was on one of the islands, it was only natural to come here and investigate the nearby waters.
"By the way, Nightingale, there's something I've been meaning to ask. Where did you get the information that Mirror Lake Manor is in Shanghai, and on an island no less?" Jiang Xinghai looked Nightingale straight in the eye.
"Official channels," Nightingale answered truthfully.
This came as a surprise to Jiang Xinghai.
"Young Master Jiang, if Mirror Lake Manor is really on an island, then we still can't avoid a falling-out with one of the three major families. I think I should ask General Zhong to make a trip here," Nightingale cautiously suggested.
"There's absolutely no need to ask my Second Senior Sister here."
Jiang Xinghai shook his head decisively. "It's just as you said earlier. Whichever family's island Mirror Lake Manor is on, that family becomes my mortal enemy. I will personally deal with them. I don't care if it's the Prince of the East or anyone else—I'll crush them all!"
Nightingale nodded silently and said no more.
Time passed bit by bit. The surface of the sea glittered under the sunlight, a little dazzling to the eye.
Jiang Xinghai simply lay down on the deck, comfortably basking in the sun.
Sun Zhen, meanwhile, paced back and forth by the railing, ever vigilant for any unexpected incidents.
"The sun feels nice, doesn't it?"
Just then, Nightingale also came onto the deck and lay down right beside Jiang Xinghai.
She tilted her head, quietly watching Jiang Xinghai as he rested with his eyes half-closed.
"I feel like something's still missing," Jiang Xinghai said, opening his eyes and turning on his side to look at Nightingale.
The distance between them was no more than a palm's width.
They could clearly feel each other's breath.
"And what does Young Master Jiang feel is missing?" Nightingale felt a little flustered under Jiang Xinghai's gaze, but she still subconsciously scooted a little closer.
After all, Zhong Yunman had once instructed her to serve Jiang Xinghai closely.
Ever since they were searching for the Arhat in Myanmar, she had hinted at her feelings to Jiang Xinghai.
But at the time, Jiang Xinghai had been focused on continuing to rescue their countrymen who had been deceived by fraudsters, so nothing happened between them.
But now, things were different.
On the entire yacht, besides Sun Zhen, it was just the two of them.
