Chapter 269: The Basement Beneath Her Love.

My gaze immediately snapped towards the ground where the woman had dropped something. It was wrapped within a pitch-blue coloured cloak.

I moved cautiously before looking underneath it, my eyes widening immediately. The thing the woman had dropped was a skeleton. Its entire body was covered in cracks as if it would turn to dust at any moment, while the small patches of fresh flesh were proof enough that she had died recently.

I immediately understood why the woman had felt so weak. How could she infiltrate the academy so easily and what had she meant about time running out?

I didn’t know exactly how it worked but from my understanding, that woman had somehow used the body of this poor girl as a medium to project herself here.

I quickly summoned my flames, willing them to latch onto the body before burning it to ashes since I didn’t want to become the prime suspect in some useless murder investigation.

With that done, without a trace left of whatever had happened inside, I walked back toward the door to my room and peeked through it. I could still see Bearlo and the others downstairs, chatting with Fiona, completely oblivious to what had happened here moments ago.

I shook my head but didn’t say anything to them and simply walked back inside, locking the door before slumping onto my bed as a curse left my lips involuntarily.

"FUCK!!!"

Honestly, nobody could blame me. I had gone through a roller coaster of emotions within a mere few minutes.

Not only had I met a yandere who claimed to know me better than I knew myself but she had also threatened to kill every single person I cared for while all I could do was freeze and hand over my nails for whatever twisted kink she had.

That woman still left me feeling creeped out whenever I thought about her. Her emotions toward me didn’t just feel like love, rather, they felt like some weird fixation on my image.

And from the way she acted, I had every reason to believe she was someone I had known very closely in my previous life but the list of insane women like that... was not small, to say the least.

Even if I only counted those who had never played my game or read Noah’s novel... the number still wasn’t low.

So pinpointing her identity was difficult.

Still, every time I thought about her threat, my fists clenched.

That bitch... How dare she threaten me?

Honestly, if I could, I would have wanted to give her the most painful death possible. What if she was a god? What if she was strong? There were still ways I could have gotten rid of her... or at least kept her occupied until I grew stronger.

But I didn’t know shit about her.

She had given me a few names but I doubted any of them were useful. If she truly knew me that well, then she should have known better than to share details like that with me.

"Haaah!"

A sigh escaped my lips as I threw my body against the soft mattress of my bed.

All I wanted now was to lie down in the embrace of my bed and push this responsibility onto my tomorrow self but I knew better than to do something like that.

My mind raced to make sense of the situation again and again but no matter how much I tried, my brain just wouldn’t calm down enough for that. I needed a few minutes away from this problem. So, I decided to do what I knew best and that was to distract myself with useless thoughts.

I pulled out the things the Demon King had handed me, an envelope and a book containing the martial art he had given me. The envelope carried the letter Eidolon had left for me, while the book supposedly contained a martial art suited to my body.

The Demon King had especially said that this technique was highly suited for my current anatomy and Living Core but I didn’t rush to check it. Instead, I opened the envelope, from which a blank white paper fell out.

Huh? Isn’t this supposed to be a letter from Eidolon? Then why is it blank?

I wondered as I held the paper in different directions and against fire and light but no matter what I did, I couldn’t see any words written on it. So, I started searching through the envelope instead but even there wasn’t a single clue there either.

Just as I was about to throw it into the dustbin, thinking it was merely some elaborate prank from the Demon King, I decided to test one last thing.

I held the letter in my right hand and channelled some mana through it as letters finally flickered into existence across the page.

So... it really was a mana letter.

Normally, it wouldn’t have taken me even a minute to figure that out and yet I had wasted nearly half an hour on it. That alone was proof of how shaken I still was after that incident with the woman.

Still, I immediately shook my head, dismissing thoughts about her as the contents of the letter became visible to me and the very first sentence instantly captured my attention.

Meanwhile, far from Alden’s room, within a deep dark basement covered in countless photos of a particular boy with black hair and red eyes, a woman opened her eyes with a wide smile.

"Hehehehehe."

A laugh escaped her lips as she gazed at the paradise around her, filled with countless images of her God, her dear, her love, her obsession and her Rael. Hers and hers alone.

She waved her hand through the air once as a few things appeared before her mid-air, the things her dear had personally given her after acknowledging her devotion toward him.

She carefully placed them inside a delicate glass bottle before storing it safely away. Meanwhile, she held his clothes in her hands, the very same clothes he had been wearing moments ago. Bringing them closer to her face, she took a deep breath.

"Ahhhhhh, my dear..."

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she inhaled the lingering fragrance she had only ever imagined from afar.

"I cannot wait for the day... the day you..."

She couldn’t even finish her sentence before maniacal giggles escaped her lips as she desperately buried her face into the clothes once again, trembling in ecstasy.
