The Unveiling of Secret Queen
Chapter 2462: Mrs. Lordon Encounters a Setback
In the hospital room, once Nathalie Quinlan left, only Mrs. Lordon and the three men, Nicholas Fuller and Amadeus Yancey, remained.
Mrs. Lordon had pulled a chair to sit in front of the hospital bed several times, glancing at the man using a dagger to peel fruit for Nicholas Fuller.
She observed that the man was merely lowering his eyes and earnestly peeling fruit.
Finally, she couldn’t help but speak: "Mr. Fuller, you know why I sought you out. We’ve known each other for decades; today, I’m willing to cast away my pride to ask a favor from you. Could you speak to Nathalie..."
Before she finished speaking, Nicholas Fuller interrupted her: "It’s not that I won’t help you. This matter involves her, and even if I am technically her mentor, I can’t decide for her."
"But if you were to just talk to her, I believe..." Mrs. Lordon hadn’t finished her sentence.
Nicholas Fuller once again firmly refused: "Mrs. Lordon, I’ve made it very clear. If this were my own issue, I would certainly make a concession based on our long-standing relationship, but this involves..."
He glanced again at the man sitting steadfastly, head lowered and peeling fruit, then raised his hand to rub his brow, looked even more resolutely at Mrs. Lordon, and spoke more bluntly: "This matter involves Nathalie Quinlan, I can’t make the decision for her."
"If you truly want her help, you can speak with her sincerely; if she’s willing to help you, she will, but if she’s not, there’s nothing I can do."
Amadeus Yancey just finished peeling an orange, cutting it into small pieces and placing them on a plate, then handed the plate to Nicholas Fuller, his voice languid: "Mr. Fuller, have some fruit."
Nicholas Fuller’s mouth twitched, he touched his nose, reached out to take the fruit handed to him, his heart racing, fearing that the young man suspected he had called Mrs. Lordon in.
He accepted the fruit that Amadeus Yancey had prepared, but didn’t eat it immediately, instead looked seriously at Mrs. Lordon once more.
Continuing the previous conversation: "I don’t know what Marco Lordon did to anger Khendy Lordon, but ultimately, this is your Lordon Family’s matter. I am unwilling to involve my student, and I hope you understand my position."
Mrs. Lordon was at a loss for words due to his clear articulation, and had to sit there awkwardly.
Not long after, Nathalie Quinlan returned with a doctor to examine Nicholas Fuller.
Mrs. Lordon found an excuse to leave first.
None of the three people in the room stopped her from leaving.
Nicholas Fuller’s recovery was quite good, as over the past ten days, the wound on his thigh had started to scab.
The doctor conducted a routine check-up on him and then gave Nathalie Quinlan the newly issued examination report to review.
Nathalie Quinlan carefully compared and confirmed Nicholas Fuller’s health condition before she was somewhat relieved.
After sending the doctor away, she returned to the person lying on the hospital bed and said: "You can be discharged in half a month."
"...Another half a month?" Nicholas Fuller, whose back had become sticky from lying down so long recently, felt a chill in his heart upon hearing the female say he had to stay bedridden for another half month, showing a very unwilling expression.
Nathalie Quinlan, hands in pockets, was actually very accommodating, thought for a moment and said: "You can be discharged early if you want, it just so happens that The First Research Institute has many projects waiting for your approval."
"Forget it." Nicholas Fuller immediately lay back down, supporting his waist: "I’ll rest a little longer, I’m getting old and can’t handle it, I’ll talk about discharge after I recover more."
Nathalie Quinlan knew he wanted to avoid it, unsurprised, she adjusted her duckbill cap and said to the elder hiding in the hospital bed: "Since you’re fine, I’ll head back first."
