"Marcus, you’ve been out since early morning?" Aunt Shui said with some concern, having heard the noise around four o’clock. "You do so much work during the day and only sleep a few hours, now you’re up working again. How can you endure this? If Adan finds out, she’ll surely scold you."

"Aunt Shui, it’s just a few days of hard work," the man replied with a laugh. Remembering Adan’s worried look yesterday gave him a surge of energy. He was determined to take care of his future wife, so he had to be ambitious.

"Take care of your health. It’s your capital, you can’t work yourself into the ground."

"I know."

On the third day, the Holiday Village stopped selling pig trotters. Initially, the stall was set up to draw crowds into the village; the pig trotters were sold only when there was nothing else to offer. The dining for the following days was all about fish feasts, so on the third day’s stall, only pure water and fruits were sold.

Adan and the others weren’t selling food, but after two days, villagers started selling various snacks, like corn, tea eggs, oden, and even buns. The base of the mountain in the scenic area was bustling with activity.

The third day’s business wasn’t as good as the first or second day; only 180 meals were sold at lunchtime, though quite a lot of fruit and fish were sold. Adan knew Marcus had been delivering fish since early morning. Seeing him busy coordinating with the construction team by the lake throughout the morning made her feel bitter, yet she pretended not to notice. Secretly, she decided to make a good profit on the gold-thread fish.

After lunch, just as Adan was about to find someone to advertise, she saw Mr. Ong and Oliver Zolotov coming over with serious expressions, asking for Marcus.

"Marcus went back to rest," Adan had just sent Marcus to take a shower and have a nap. She quickly stopped the two older gentlemen, stamping her feet. "He only slept 3 to 4 hours yesterday; don’t wake him up."

"Sleep, sleep, sleep — it’s time to get up! People will be arriving at the village soon," Mr. Ong said anxiously.

"What people?" Adan asked sharply, "People coming to steal our gold-thread fish?"

Mr. Ong: "..."

Oliver Zolotov blushed and said weakly, "Not exactly stealing. I sent the research data up there, and the research institute from the Imperial City is sending people. Anyway, the state won’t let you suffer a loss."

Adan: "..."

The people from the national research institute arrived at 3 p.m., including not just researchers but also a minister and a director. The news first reached the city and then the county, so the mayor and county leader hurried over. With so many people arriving, it was a bit overwhelming.

Fortunately, most of the tourists had left the Holiday Village by the time they arrived. Everyone waited at the village entrance, while Adan had the village’s young lad, Wang Gang, lead the convoy to park in the temporary parking lot.

The young boy with a red scarf excitedly directed the way.

The leaders who initially wanted to disembark were a bit bewildered. They then asked the driver to circle around to park, getting off to walk. They felt that maybe this village wasn’t very welcoming after all.

Well, they were here for the gold-thread fish, after all.

The accompanying mayor and county head were drenched with cold sweat. What a mess, they thought. Mr. Ong and Oliver Zolotov, waiting eagerly, were also wide-eyed in disbelief. They hadn’t expected Adan to actually dare give the leaders from the Imperial City a hard time, as for Marcus, he was just a naïve guy who went along with whatever his wife said.

The two thought about the past few days in the Holiday Village, with all the discounts and indulgence. They felt somewhat guilty and decided they should restrain themselves in the future. It wouldn’t be good if they were kicked out of the village.

Marcus and others took the minister, director, mayor, and county leader for a tour around the Holiday Village. On learning that the village had been renovated like this in just a month, they were quite surprised.

"Let’s go see the gold-thread fish first, hahaha." Minister Zhu, a slightly chubby and jovial person with no airs, said. Of course, personalities depended on the people.

"Old Zhu, why are you in such a hurry? I haven’t even caught up with Marcus yet," Director Mo said with a grin. Director Mo had fair skin, suggesting he spent a lot of time in research, with an intellectual aura, but his eyes gleamed brightly. "The fish won’t run away, and besides, the institute already has a dozen or so of them."

Catch up? The research institute already has gold-thread fish? Director Mo’s few words revealed countless pieces of information, leaving everyone astonished and understanding as they looked at Marcus.

Old Marcus has been gone for years, and Marcus was just a kid back then, right? What could he possibly catch up on with Director Mo? The mayor of Suton and the county leader of Green County realized they might have underestimated Marcus, quickly thinking about whose family Old Marcus’ daughter married into, and which family Marcus originally came from.
