the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1596 - 1568: Only Someone as Strong as Marcus Quinn Can Survive
Due to the abundance of fish, even though the canteen has a specially built pool, it’s still unable to hold so many fish. Every home has filled their buckets, and everyone’s gaze turned to Ah Tan.
Joy Zachary’s gaze also fell on Ah Tan. Since she arrived today, she naturally knew her in-laws listened to Marcus Quinn, who in turn listened to Ah Tan.
Marcus Quinn and Ah Tan were not married, just had a verbal engagement. It’s said that Marcus Quinn initially transferred a 5-million fund directly to Ah Tan’s card, spoiling her and cherishing her as if she were held in his palm. Her in-laws and husband weren’t worried, even though she was. However, after observing Marcus Quinn and Ah Tan, Joy Zachary recognized they possessed a magnanimity unheard of in the village, and perhaps even among Suton’s people.
Joy also reluctantly admitted she felt the 5 million was a fortune, but they might see it as mere pocket money. This demeanor and their daily conduct conveyed numerous messages, all suggesting Ah Tan hailed from a remarkable background, at least not on the same level as her, a city demolition mogul. So, she resigned herself to this fact.
"With this much fish, let’s make a full fish banquet for tomorrow’s set meal. Villagers can take fish, give some to friends and family, or sell them in the county town," Ah Tan pondered and laughed. "Sis-in-law can first take several hundred pounds to give to relatives and friends, there’s enough fish to go around. Then, distribute some to those who’ve helped us before, including county and city leaders. Inform them our Holiday Village is in trial operation. Lastly, just put the fish online and sell them for fun. Wild fish like this naturally have buyers."
Ah Tan’s words immediately put Joy at ease. She indeed had many friends and family in Suton, and with plenty of fish, relatives and coworkers could each get five big fish.
After speaking, Ah Tan looked at Marcus Quinn, eyes smiling as she asked, "Brother Quinn, do you have any additions or better ideas?"
Marcus Quinn felt like his heart was tickled by a cat’s paw when she called him Brother Quinn, both tender and soft. Luckily, he had a normally stoic face; otherwise, he’d surely grin foolishly.
The man’s eyes filled with amusement as he spoke in a low voice, "Go with what you mentioned, also marinate some fish and make some fish balls as these can last long."
Hence, during the National Day period, the meals were all fish feasts.
Of course, Uncle Spencer and Aunt Spencer agreed, so Joy gladly went to pick fish, preparing a few large buckets of them for Irving Spencer to load up. They’d drive back to Suton that night to deliver the fish.
Marcus Quinn took photos of some golden fish and posted it on his Moments, asking what species they were.
Marcus Quinn’s WeChat was registered just a month prior, adding only county, city leaders, provincial agricultural experts, Military District personnel, and villagers from Anfield. It was his first time posting on Moments; after he did, he set the phone aside, planning to make chopped pepper fish head for Ah Tan that night.
The man picked up the vegetable knife and cut off the fish head, then chose an over-ten-pound blue fish and caught about twenty, rubbing salt on them to marinate salted fish.
While Marcus Quinn marinated the fish, Ah Tan was already on her phone checking her online store. Finding over a hundred orders had accumulated that afternoon, she slapped her forehead, realizing she’d been busy and forgot to ship. Tomorrow she’d visit the county to find a cooperative courier company. Fortunately, most orders were local deliveries, arriving the same day. "Green Meadow Wonderland Orchard" currently only offered one product: ugly tangerines.
Ah Tan went to ask Uncle Spencer about the fish species, then listed the wild fish online, writing about the species in the product description, pricing at 100 yuan, randomly shipping over ten pounds per order. She wasn’t sure whether the price was cheap or expensive; she just sold them freely.
Irving and Joy drove a carload of fish back to Suton, and Marcus Quinn made chopped pepper fish head, sweet-and-sour fish, and sour soup fish fillets for dinner, filling a large basin. The four of them, along with Uncle Spencer’s grandson, ate to their satisfaction.
After dinner, Aunt Spencer went to tidy up the kitchen, Marcus Quinn went to wash up and changed into clean clothes. It was only then that Ah Tan felt uncomfortable, heading back to soak in the bath, using wildflower petals she picked from the mountains, and upon emerging, she found Marcus Quinn waiting outside, softly saying, "We have to have a meeting tonight."
Ah Tan hadn’t had time to dry her hair, deciding it would dry naturally, and asked excitedly, "What meeting?"
Marcus Quinn saw she’d been tiring herself out all day, initially intending for her to rest early. But unexpectedly, the villagers all came, now chatting excitedly with Uncle and Aunt Spencer in the front yard. In the village, where there’s little entertainment, besides watching TV or sleeping, people favored gatherings even more since Marcus Quinn’s arrival brought monumental changes, fueling their fervor for chats.
