Chapter 1618 -1632: Teaching Young Master Qi a Lesson

“Friend? What the hell are you, thinking you’re worthy of being my buddy?”

Qi Junwen raised an eyebrow, suddenly swung his palm, and slapped Cheng Xu hard across the face.

Smack! The crisp sound echoed through the hall, followed by a silence so profound that one could hear a pin drop.

Cheng Xu’s eyes turned bloodshot in an instant. He clenched his fists tightly, gasping heavily, his body trembling slightly. In the underworld, reputation was everything; sometimes just for being called “your motherf***er,” someone might fly into a rage and draw their knife. Being slapped in public was far worse. For a big boss like him, it was an utter humiliation, one that could only be repaid with blood.

“What are you looking at? Dissatisfied?” Qi Junwen glared, raising his hand without hesitation for another slap, but this time, Cheng Xu, on the verge of losing control, suddenly became calm.

“Something’s not right! Although Qi Junwen has a bad temper, he’s not unpredictable. I’ve worked hard to get along with him before. Coming here now, even if he’s slightly displeased, it shouldn’t escalate to a full confrontation like this. Could it be that someone doesn’t like me and wants to use Qi Junwen to deal with me?”

Cheng Xu hadn’t read much, but he knew the saying: where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Meanwhile, as he turned these thoughts over in his mind, Qi Junwen spat out a cigarette butt and sneered, “Hmph, you bunch of trash need a lesson. What are you looking at? With that dyed yellow hair, thinking you’re the Golden Haired Lion King?”

He slapped Huang Mao away and sneered, “You scum, filth, social tumors—the sewer rats are better than you. At least they eat some garbage, purifying the environment, but you? All you do is fight and cause trouble. Why are you still standing here? Get lost, you uncultured bastards!”

Having cowed the room, Qi Junwen felt secretly pleased. What new nobles of the Pearl River Delta, what rising stars? In front of him, they were all nothing. Thinking of the benefits promised by that noble person, Young Master Qi became even more motivated. “Let’s go, up to the third floor!”

The idle folks turned pale, but Cheng Xu frowned and said nothing. They dared not act rashly, grudgingly giving way to Qi Junwen and his entourage, allowing them to swagger upstairs.

Cheng Xu’s expression shifted continuously. Sure enough, kind visitors do not come; this time Qi Junwen was clearly not here for leisure. Just as they reached the third floor, his burly men started spreading out, searching everywhere: the bar, the private rooms, the restroom. Some even took out professional tools to knock on the walls…

Seeing all areas being searched, except the VIP room with the hidden chamber, Cheng Xu’s expression changed immediately. He rushed forward and blocked the door, saying, “Young Master Qi, perhaps we shouldn’t go in here!”

“What the hell? I can’t choose a room? You’re so tense; are you hiding something in there?”

Glancing at Cheng Xu, Qi Junwen smirked coldly.

“No way.” Cheng Xu’s forehead twitched, forcing a smile as he said, “It’s just that there are distinguished guests in there…”

“Ha, what distinguished guests? Can they be more distinguished than me? Tell them to get lost; I’ve picked this room.”

With a nod, Qi Junwen signaled, and two burly men pushed the door open and strode inside. However, they entered quickly and came out even faster. With two thudding sounds, the two tall men flew backward and, upon landing, instantly fell into a coma.

Qi Junwen’s expression shifted, his face flesh jiggling twice. Just as he was about to speak, a young man strode out, disdainful look on his face. “Who’s barking? Where’s this fat pig from, daring to tell me to get lost?”

“Fat, fat pig?”

Qi Junwen’s face immediately turned blue and green, nearly exploding with anger. Wherever Young Master Qi went, he was met with flowers and applause, with compliments left and right. Even the big shots in the underworld were respectful, not daring to slight him. Yet this little bastard dared to mock him…

Fatness was a wound in Young Master’s heart; and yet, he added “pig” to it!

This was an unforgivable sin.

“Hit him, beat him to death! I’ll take responsibility for whatever happens.”

Qi Junwen waved his fat hand, and seven or eight burly men advanced with grins, ready to throw punches and kicks. Lin Mu smirked, thinking of teaching these losers a lesson they’d never forget about life’s breaking points. His eye caught Cheng Xu’s panicked expression, and his mind shifted. He halted, suddenly sneering and said, “Stop it; I’m from the city police detective squad. If you dare touch me, you’re living on borrowed time!”

“City detective squad?” Qi Junwen’s expression froze. He came here to act on the “noble” person’s behalf—bullying the average joe was fine, but tangling with the detective squad, directly linked to the city, would be unwise. Weighing the pros and cons, Qi Junwen furrowed his brow and decided to probe the background. “As far as I know, the city detective squad hasn’t had any new recruits lately?”

“I’m specially recruited, isn’t that okay?”

Lin Mu rolled his eyes and casually attempted to show his badge, inadvertently pulling out a naked woman’s photo instead!

“Pfft…”

The onlookers almost burst into laughter!

“Hmm, sorry…wrong one. Here it is!” Lin Mu cast out his badge. It was brought by Liu Genyou’s people after the conflict with Zhao Tianhao. He hadn’t inspected it closely—just kept it in his pocket till now when it proved useful.

“Specially recruited?”

Qi Junwen’s expression showed surprise as he received the badge. He thought he was cursed to meet a legendary big shot. However, his complexion changed upon reading the red stamp words, nearly driving his mouth crooked with anger.

Damn, what special recruit, what detective, f***! The brat here is merely a temporary worker!

“Damn, you’re messing with me!”

A staffer and a temp were worlds apart.

Fear vanished, as Qi Junwen’s ruthlessness surged—he discarded the badge, preparing to slap Lin Mu. A clueless temp, if beaten, who cares. Qi Junwen’s reasoning seemed valid; his bottom remained safe, yet his face… In a flash, Lin Mu’s palm struck first, making Qi’s facial cheeks ripple with hypnotic ‘waves.’

As the crisp sound ceased, the hallway onlookers were stunned. Even the brash, thoughtless Lanzai couldn’t help swallowing down, feeling his heartbeat race.

“You… you dare hit me?” Qi Junwen clutched his face, full of disbelief.

“Hitting you is nothing!”
