Chapter 1484: Chapter 1499: The Arrogant Foreigner
"If you don’t have a grand goal in life, what’s the difference between living and being a pig?"
"Haha, that’s true. Get some rest early."
"Alright, I’ll rest first. I’ll let you know when I find some information about the Stern Family," Sophie said.
"Okay, let’s do that," Lin Mu responded.
After hanging up the phone, Lin Mu returned to the hotel.
Back in the hotel room, Zhou Xun was already asleep. Lin Mu didn’t disturb her, took a shower, and then lay down.
Perhaps because of the shower, Lin Mu found himself unable to sleep, causing him to recall Sophie’s words.
In fact, what Sophie said had its reason; it indeed was like that.
Although he didn’t know Jiao Yunda well, Lin Mu could sense that Jiao Yunda was definitely not a simple character.
As the saying goes, there are no permanent friends, and no permanent enemies in the world, so it’s best to take precautions. Thinking about these things, Lin Mu also fell asleep.
When he woke up, the sun was already high. Zhou Xun had gotten up at some unknown time, and Lin Mu stretched lazily, sitting up in bed.
"Brother Lin, you’re up," Zhou Xun said, walking into the room.
"When did you get up? Why so early?" Lin Mu yawned and said.
"I went to bed early last night, so I got up early. Also, you didn’t call me when you came back last night," Zhou Xun pouted, saying.
Lin Mu smiled, "I saw you were asleep, so I didn’t want to disturb you."
"Hmph, call me next time you come back. You made me worry about you even in my dreams," Zhou Xun said.
"Haha, I’ll remember next time," Lin Mu grinned and said.
"Alright, quickly get dressed, wash up, and then let’s go out for some breakfast. After breakfast, accompany me for a stroll around. Today you can’t say no, you haven’t properly spent time with me these past days," Zhou Xun said.
"Haha, as you command, my queen," Lin Mu chuckled and saluted Jiang Yu playfully.
"Hmph, nonsense, all you know is how to joke around. Go wash up quickly," Zhou Xun said, giving Lin Mu a light punch.
"Haha, a kiss first," Lin Mu leaned over and said.
"No way, you wash up first, your breath stinks..." Zhou Xun said.
"Haha, then if I take a shower, can we do that..." Lin Mu smirked mischievously.
"Pervert, I’m ignoring you," Zhou Xun said, giving Lin Mu another punch.
"Haha, I’ll clean up first,"
Lin Mu said, dashing to the bathroom to wash up and change clothes.
"Alright, done, can I kiss you now?" Lin Mu said standing in front of Zhou Xun.
This time, Zhou Xun didn’t refuse, she leaned in and kissed Lin Mu.
"Hmm, not bad, it’s still the same taste..." Lin Mu grinned, then hugged Zhou Xun, "Let’s go, let’s have a meal together and then wander around."
Then the two chatted while leaving the hotel, grabbing some breakfast at a local roadside stall. The snacks in Longdu were indeed authentic.
"Where do you want to go today?" Lin Mu asked while eating.
"Let’s go to Badaling first, then to the Temple of Heaven, and finally take a walk around the Olympic Village," Zhou Xun said.
"Alright, we can go wherever you want today, I’ll accompany you," Lin Mu grinned.
"Hehe, Brother Lin is the best," Zhou Xun giggled.
"Haha, I have to be the best!" Lin Mu thumped his chest in promise.
"You rascal," Zhou Xun gave Lin Mu a playful punch.
After breakfast, the two walked out of the restaurant together. Anyway, they were free, so accompanying Zhou Xun around wasn’t a bad thing, these opportunities were rare for Lin Mu.
Lin Mu and Zhou Xun took a taxi to the base of Badaling, where the ruins of the old Great Wall lay. There’s a saying that goes, "One is not a hero until they have climbed the Great Wall," so their first stop was the Great Wall.
There were quite a few people out today, including a large group of European youths. Zhou Xun held onto Lin Mu’s arm as they chatted and climbed upwards. Zhou Xun even brought a high-quality camera. Standing on the Great Wall and looking at the surrounding scenery was just picturesque, like being inside an artist’s painting.
"Brother Lin, something seems to be happening up ahead," Zhou Xun pointed forward and said.
Not far ahead, a group of people were gathered, most of them dressed as backpackers, seemingly watching something. Of course, what they were watching wasn’t a performance, but rather a conflict.
"Let’s go over and take a look," Lin Mu said, heading over with Zhou Xun.
Even before they got there, Lin Mu heard shouting and cursing, with a peculiar accent. Clearly, it was a foreigner cursing in Chinese.
As the two squeezed in, they saw a burly European man pointing and cursing at an elderly man. The old man had a red band tied to his arm, probably a staff member of the scenic area.
Of course, this thin and frail old man was no match for the European hulk in terms of physique. At this point, the old man looked visibly distressed by the European man’s verbal assault!
Sure, nobody feels good being insulted in front of others, especially with so many onlookers.
"These foreigners are just too arrogant, so lacking in manners. Just foul-mouthed!" Zhou Xun stood on the side, almost unable to stand it anymore.
Lin Mu couldn’t stand it either. After all, this is Huaxia; what gives these Europeans the right to point and curse at Huaxia people here? This is outrageous, and even more frustrating is no one dared to stand up for the old man.
What made Lin Mu even angrier was that of the onlookers, most were Huaxia people, although there were a few European youths. But the Huaxia people here outnumbered them many times over. Yet, among so many people, not one dared to step in and mediate?
Seriously, watching foreigners pointing and cursing at their own people, yet having the leisure to just watch, Lin Mu felt sad for them. Alas, the moral decline!
"So many Huaxia people, yet they’re all useless, not one dared to do something. Not manly at all?" Lin Mu said angrily.
Lin Mu spoke loudly enough for the surrounding onlookers to hear. Once he said it, some turned their eyes to Lin Mu, full of disdain.
"What do you mean by that?" one guy asked.
In situations like this, one fears someone making a fuss; once one person starts, everyone joins in. So naturally, once this guy said something, the surrounding crowd turned their accusing gazes to Lin Mu, as if Lin Mu broke some rule.
"How can you speak like that? Can you even talk?" someone criticized Lin Mu.
Of course, Lin Mu didn’t care about these losers; he had seen plenty of them. People like this had no other skills but to make senseless noise, all mouth and no action!
