Chapter 381: Chapter 378: Fireworks and Artillery Fire

"But..." Xi Yueyao pouted, sulking.

Feng Hao patted her head and chuckled. "See the envious looks on all those girls’ faces? They’re all jealous of us."

"Really?" Xi Yueyao pursed her lips and looked around, her mood finally improving a little. "But how would they know you prepared these fireworks for me?" she mumbled.

"That’s easy. Just keep your eyes open. The grand finale is about to begin!" Feng Hao grinned. With a mere thought, he activated the specially-made fireworks hidden all around them.

In the next instant, dozens of luminous projectiles shot skyward before bursting in the night air.

Then, before the stunned eyes of the crowd, the magical light of the fireworks coalesced into a series of images. These pyrotechnic portraits were incredibly vivid, and all of them depicted a charming young girl.

In one, she had her hands on her hips with her lips in a pout. In another, she brandished a long whip as if about to strike someone. In yet another, she was crouching on the ground, playing with a cat.

In any case, when Yao Girl saw this display, tears began to well in her eyes. She instinctively snuggled into Feng Hao’s embrace, her gaze fixed dreamily on the night sky.

"Well? I think everyone knows now, don’t you?" Feng Hao asked with a playful grin.

"Hmph!" The girl gave a haughty snort, feigning annoyance, but the little stars sparkling in her eyes gave her away.

At the same time, gasps of astonishment erupted across the square. The female students, in particular, were so excited they looked as if they might faint.

"Look, look! Those light projectiles actually formed the image of a girl! She’s so beautiful!"

"Huh? That person looks kind of familiar..."

"What do you mean, ’kind of familiar’? We see her practically every day," someone nearby snapped.

"Every day? You can’t be talking about that first-year Little Demon who’s always running around with her posse, can you?"

"That’s the one. That little scoundrel extorted a hefty protection fee from me just a few days ago. I remember it very clearly!"

"Er, who would be sick enough to make an image of the Little Demon with light projectiles?"

"I know, right?! Whoever set off these fireworks must have a screw loose."

Hearing this, the love-struck female students nearby immediately started to argue back. "What do you know? This is called romance! You clueless blockheads, no wonder you don’t have girlfriends!"

"Exactly," another female student chimed in. "If someone did this for me, I’d be too excited to sleep."

"Yeah, if a guy were willing to do all this for me, I’d go to a hotel with him right now. He could do whatever he wanted with me."

"Dream on! Who’d want a little tramp like you!"

"Tch, can’t a girl fantasize a little?" the glamorous student scoffed. Her tone shifted to curiosity. "Speaking of which, isn’t Xi Yueyao’s boyfriend that brute, Feng Hao? You don’t think he’s the one behind this, do you?"

"Who else could it be? Still, these special fireworks are incredibly romantic. I don’t know what Xi Yueyao did to get so lucky."

"Whoa! I always thought Feng Hao was so commanding, but I never expected him to be this romantic, too. Oh my god, I can’t... Is he looking for another girlfriend? I want to be his girlfriend!"

"Keep dreaming. Xi Yueyao is not someone you want to cross."

...

Back on Feng Hao’s side, Yue Linglong, Man Tiaotiao, and the other women were completely captivated. When they saw the fireworks form the image of Yao Girl, they all gasped, covering their mouths. Their gazes toward Xi Yueyao were filled with envy.

Xiyue Frost’s expression, however, grew complicated. She stole a glance at Feng Hao and Xi Yueyao snuggling together and unconsciously bit her lip.

As for Xie Kuangfeng, he was already at his wit’s end with Xie Xiaoyu.

It was no use. The moment Xi Yueyao’s image appeared in the sky, Xie Xiaoyu was overwhelmed with a mix of envy, jealousy, and spite. She kept clamoring for Xie Kuangfeng to arrange a similar fireworks display for her.

"You jerk! You big meanie! You don’t love me anymore!" Xie Xiaoyu pouted, throwing a tantrum.

Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, Xie Kuangfeng tried to console her. "Be a good girl, Xiaoyu. Another day, I’ll go get some pointers from Feng Hao. I promise I’ll put on an even bigger show for you."

"Really?" Xiaoyu asked, her eyes glistening with tears.

"Of course, it’s true. When have I ever lied to you?" Xie Kuangfeng patted Xie Xiaoyu’s head, then added with an odd expression, "But before that, you have to go get Bai Yin for me."

"Why get Senior Sister?" Xie Xiaoyu asked, confused.

Xie Kuangfeng’s face flushed. "Just do as I say! Why so many questions?"

Meanwhile, Man Tiaotiao and her family of three had been standing together in happy harmony. But after the special fireworks lit up the sky, the beautiful, blonde Michelle began to complain, "You oaf, you don’t have a romantic bone in your body. Just look at Feng Hao."

"Tch. We’re an old married couple. What’s the point of all this romantic nonsense?" Barbarian Three Punches said with a dismissive look.

"Hmm?" Michelle glared at him. "Care to say that again?" she demanded icily.

"Alright, alright. You’re the wife, you’re the boss," Barbarian Three Punches immediately conceded.

"That’s more like it," Michelle sneered. "But for what you just said, you can forget about getting into my bed tonight."

"..." Barbarian Three Punches was speechless with regret.

Meanwhile, the romantic atmosphere between Feng Hao and Yao Girl had reached its peak, and they began to get playfully mischievous with each other off to the side.

To be honest, Feng Hao wasn’t bold enough for this kind of public display, but he couldn’t stop Yao Girl, who was nestled in his arms, from getting frisky. A little pinch here, a little squeeze there... it was driving him to distraction.

"Hey, stop fooling around. People are watching!" Feng Hao whispered, struggling to suppress the feelings stirring within him.

But Xi Yueyao only gazed at him deeply, her eyes full of mischief. "So let them watch. What’s there to be afraid of? I’m ready to put on a real show!"

Feng Hao was utterly flabbergasted, at a complete loss for words.

However, at that very moment, a series of massive explosions boomed from the horizon, completely overpowering the sound of the ongoing fireworks.

Startled, Feng Hao gently pushed Yao Girl off him and whipped his head toward the source of the sound.

At the same time, the others also sensed that something was wrong and looked to Feng Hao in confusion.

"Those aren’t fireworks," Feng Hao said, his expression turning grim.

"This isn’t your doing?" Barbarian Three Punches asked, bewildered.

The words had barely left his lips when, before Feng Hao could reply, a crimson Fireball tore through the spectacular fireworks display and came crashing down.

BOOM!

It exploded in a nearby crowd, sending screams echoing through the air as the entire Central Square instantly descended into chaos.

At the same time, a volley of flaming projectiles arched through the air, dyeing the night sky crimson. Within the span of a few breaths, the entire Five States City was engulfed in the sounds of continuous bombardment.

"Damn it! Who the hell has a death wish, daring to attack Five States City? And of all the goddamn times to do it!" Barbarian Three Punches roared. He shot up to the roof of the Celestial Secret Tower and began shouting orders to evacuate. "Kids, scatter! Go, now—!"

In an instant, the entire square became a scene of pandemonium, a cacophony of screams and explosions.

"Xue’Er, get up here and block those projectiles!" Barbarian Three Punches yelled through clenched teeth as he saw several more shells arcing down.

Michelle dared not be careless. After giving Man Tiaotiao a few quick instructions, she rode the wind high into the air. With a wave of her hand, she conjured a massive, pale blue Light Shield, blocking the projectiles that were about to crash into the square.
