The Strongest Swordmaster in the World of Naruto (AU)
Chapter 340: A Married Couple in the Village of Konoha
In the Village of Konoha, it was still early in the morning. The sky stretched wide in a bright, clear blue, adorned with slow-drifting white clouds that seemed to soothe the hearts of the villagers who had only recently emerged from a long period of anxiety.
The sun, newly risen from behind the distant mountain ranges, scattered its gentle golden rays across the village, painting the rooftops of traditional houses in shimmering light, as though every tile was touched with molten gold.
A cool morning breeze blew softly, carrying with it the crisp fragrance of the trees, mingled faintly with the earthy scent of wood burning from household cooking stoves.
The streets had begun to stir with life—children ran about in play, their laughter echoing like bells, while merchants pushed their wooden carts, the creaking of wheels accompanying the morning bustle. Women carried woven baskets filled with fresh vegetables from the market, their footsteps steady and graceful against the stone pathways.
Many people moved in and out of Konoha’s main gates. Most of them were traveling merchants bringing goods from outside, while others were curious visitors, drawn by news that the Third Great Ninja War had finally ended.
Some led burden animals—horses and oxen laden with goods. Others shouldered bright rolls of fabric across their backs, while food vendors cried out to advertise their steaming dumplings, roasted skewers, and fragrant soups.
Only a few days ago, the war had been declared over. For that reason, the gates of Konoha had once again been thrown wide open, standing tall and proud, their sturdy wooden carvings a symbol of the village’s enduring protection.
Above the watchtower fluttered a banner painted with the emblem of the leaf, waving in the breeze as if proudly welcoming each guest who entered. This gate was not just an entrance, but a herald of freedom—proof that the Village of Konoha was ready once again to embrace the outside world after such long years of conflict.
Yet, security remained strict. The inspection post at the gate was manned by sensor ninja, alert and sharp-eyed, examining every single person who entered with utmost care.
At this very moment, just in front of the inspection desk, stood two figures—calm in posture, yet radiating an unmistakable vigilance. They faced two guards assigned to duty. Both guards wore the standard Konoha flak vests, their foreheads marked by the bandanas engraved with the Leaf symbol.
At first glance, they appeared to be ordinary men, their faces unremarkable, even plain. But in truth, these men were trained sensor ninja.
Their eyes were piercing, and with chakra sensitivity honed through years of rigorous discipline, they could perceive even the faintest difference between an ordinary human and one concealing hidden strength.
The two individuals under inspection looked like a man and a woman—clearly presenting themselves as a couple.
The man was dressed in a soft gray kimono, paired with a silvery-white hakama. His black hair was neatly kept, strands falling slightly over his forehead.
At his left hip rested a katana. Its scabbard was plain and unadorned, but a subtle glimmer at the hilt betrayed that this was no common blade.
The man’s expression was serene, his gaze steady, brimming with quiet confidence. From his presence exuded a maturity and composure that belied his still-young age.
Beside him stood a strikingly beautiful woman with a tall, graceful figure. She wore a deep-blue kimono of elegant fabric, which draped and followed the curves of her body with natural poise, enhancing her captivating presence.
Her hair was long and golden, gleaming brilliantly under the kiss of sunlight, as though each strand were spun from threads of gold itself.
Her face was gentle, with eyes that radiated warmth, though hidden deep within them flickered a mysterious glint.
The way she stood close to the man, leaning ever so slightly against him, deepened the impression that they were indeed husband and wife—newly married, basking in the early days of their union.
“So, the two of you are husband and wife?” one of the Konoha shinobi finally asked, his voice deep and firm, though not threatening. He was merely doing his duty—verifying the identity of everyone who sought to enter the village.
