Chapter 317: Aoki Requests Information on War Progress

Kurisu's gaze was enough to make the two children straighten up.

Aoki also asked Kurisu for updates on the war. This time, his tone was slightly lower, but his anxiety was faintly audible. Aoki's eyes remained unblinking, awaiting a direct report from the front lines of the organization he had built with blood and determination.

Then Kurisu explained that the Third Great Ninja War had now reached its peak.

Kurisu's voice was low and calm, but the contents of her report were like a cold knife, stabbing slowly. "Several small villages have been destroyed. Border areas have repeatedly changed hands. And in the next few days, weeks, or months, this war may end... but not without heavy casualties."

Aoki listened, but his heart wasn't really concerned with that timeline. After all, if Aoki remembered correctly, Namikaze Minato had faced A (the Fourth Raikage) and Killer Bee on the battlefield during the Third Great Ninja War. Aoki knew that momentous event had yet to occur.

Then, as the final moments approached, Hanzo faced the first generation of the Akatsuki. Hanzo would seek help from Root Danzo, a collaboration that would lead to tragedy. Yahiko would die—a moment that would trigger a new wave of disasters in the future. Aoki knew this plot. But Aoki also knew that knowing didn't necessarily mean he could change it.

Then A (the Third Raikage) died after fighting ten thousand shinobi for three nights without stopping. A living legend who refused to fall until his last breath. Afterward, A (the Fourth Raikage) assumed the title of Raikage and imprisoned Killer Bee in the village for safety and stability.

Aoki squeezed her hand gently. He knew this hadn't even begun yet. And that's why he still had time. Time to build his army. Time to strengthen the shadowy organization that would help him fight the coming darkness.

Aoki then asked Kurisu about some of the things that had happened while Aoki was gone. Aoki felt the need to know every development, no matter how small. The world was changing, and every piece of information could be a sword or a shield.

Kurisu replied that the Kisatsutai had now grown rapidly. "As you ordered," Kurisu said. "We have selected worthy women. They haven't been random. They've all gone through a rigorous screening process. None of them have any ties to outside factions."

Kurisu explained that due to the Third Great Ninja War, many people had lost their homes, families, and possessions. This situation created fertile ground for recruiting desperate individuals who still had the will to survive.

Kurisu followed Aoki's orders and recruited various women to train as Bounty Hunters for the Kisatsutai and to gather information at various Oni food store branches.

The women came from various backgrounds—some were former farmers, servants, slaves, and even former lowly ninja who had run away from their own villages.

The screening process was carried out in three stages: background, mental integrity, and physical potential. Once they passed, they were immediately put into intensive training.

Kurisu personally led the training, with discipline and ruthlessness. There was no mercy for slackers. No mercy for quitters.

The training began with physical training: push-ups until they fainted, running with weights, and unprotected weapons training. It then progressed to technical training: reading enemy movements, stealthy infiltration, stealth, intelligence gathering, and evading sight.

After that, they were taught how to extract chakra. A difficult lesson for those unfamiliar with the shinobi world. Kurisu now taught them how to sense the flow of chakra as it circulated through their bodies.
