Volume 2 Preview + Volume 1 Afterword

After the end of Volume 1, Volume 2 will take everyone into an entirely new world—a world of the zombie apocalypse.

Several years after the zombie outbreak, the survivors have nearly wiped out the zombies.

So what kind of post-apocalyptic era will this world enter?

Now that the zombies are almost completely extinct, what has become of a world whose ecosystem was once drastically altered by the collapse of human civilization? And what will the world's ecology look like after everything that has happened?

All of this will be shown through the eyes of Charles, a hermit who has been living in Switzerland in the zombie world. He will take Xia Jiuwei and Lu Nian'an on a journey to explore a small corner of this strange world.

However, during the latter half of Volume 2, because of some old grievances between Lu Nian'an and the Incheon Group, the two of them will temporarily leave the zombie world.

They will travel to South Korea, where they will embark on a series of journeys and adventures.

But their trip won't remain peaceful forever.

Eventually, they will find themselves attending a banquet...

A banquet filled with nothing but malice.

As for what exactly will happen at that banquet, you'll just have to wait for Volume 2 to find out.

Good News!

I only decided to start updating twice a week after I had already finished writing Volume 1.

Because of that, compared to Volume 1, where each chapter averaged only around 1,200–1,300 words after being translated into English, the chapters in Volume 2 are about 30% longer, averaging around 1,700–1,800 words each.

Also, since I've decided to update twice a week, I won't be taking a break after finishing Volume 1 like I originally planned.

Tomorrow, at the usual update time, I'll be uploading the Volume 1 extra chapter. After that, the next update will officially begin Volume 2!

On top of that, my Chinese manuscript has currently reached Chapter 83.

That means even if things get extremely busy after school starts in September, and I don't have time to write anything new for a while, I already have enough chapters saved up to keep the story updating throughout the entire semester.

So you can safely jump into the story now!

When I first came up with the idea of writing this novel, it was actually because I was running out of things to read.

After watching hundreds of anime and reading countless web novels, I gradually came up with an idea:

What would happen if I could stitch together completely different worlds into a single universe?

And that was how the original concept for this novel was born.

Later, my school happened to hold a short-story competition. I originally thought my work had a pretty good chance of winning, but due to some circumstances, I wasn't able to participate in the competition in the end.

Oddly enough, that only gave me an even stronger motivation to prove myself.

Now, looking back, it's been about two months since I finished Volume 1.

It's hard to believe that I only started writing long-form fiction as a complete beginner around April of this year.

Looking back on these past three months or so, I honestly have to say that the journey has been pretty difficult.

When I first started, I would usually spend more than ten hours writing a single chapter, only to end up with a little over 2,000 Chinese characters.

After translating it into English, that would become roughly 1,200 words. On top of that, I would spend another hour or so translating each chapter.

All in all, it took up a lot of time.

Back then, I was fueled by the kind of youthful enthusiasm that makes you want to throw yourself completely into something.

I had just finished my university entrance exams and suddenly had plenty of free time, so I started writing almost every single day.

But spending nearly all of my time writing wasn't just time-consuming—it was mentally exhausting as well.

For the first month or so, I was practically living in a state of complete delirium.

However, after writing ten or twenty chapters, my writing speed gradually improved.

I went from needing more than ten hours to finish a chapter to being able to go from planning to a completed chapter in around four to six hours.

And now, I still try to write a chapter whenever I have some free time each day, but it only takes me around two to three hours.

What's even more surprising is that the chapters I'm writing now are actually considerably longer than they were in the beginning.

So I guess writing really is something that takes time and practice to improve at.

I've also come to realize that writing can be a rather lonely journey.

After all, I'm a new writer publishing in a non-native language environment.

I'm not writing a particularly mainstream genre either, and the story itself doesn't have some huge hook that immediately grabs everyone's attention.

Because of that, it's often difficult for me to figure out what my novel actually looks like from another reader's perspective simply through the feedback I receive.

Sometimes, I don't even know—

Does anyone actually like this story?

Still, seeing that I currently have 32 followers and 10 favorites makes me incredibly grateful for everyone's support.

Especially Yil's comments.

Every time I see one of your comments, it gives me a tremendous amount of encouragement and feedback while I'm writing.

For a new author, knowing that someone is actually reading the story, thinking about it, and even taking the time to leave a few words is something truly precious.
