SUMMARY

Ten years ago, Kren watched his father die.

Beheaded in front of the entire court, on the word of an emperor he'd served faithfully his whole life — accused of a crime he never committed. Of sleeping with the emperor's eldest daughter and heir. A lie dressed up as treason, wielded like an axe.

His father's death didn't end there. It ended his kingdom.

The emperor didn't stop at one execution. He tore the N'kora crest from an entire bloodline, sealing off every feline's ability to cultivate in a single stroke. Overnight, an entire people were stripped of their strength and sold into servitude across the continent — clans, families, children — while the empire that orchestrated it called it justice.

Now, ten years later, Kren finally reclaims what was taken. The crest is his again.

But the old emperor is dead. And the throne now belongs to the very woman who set his father up to die.

Imperial Princess Elyvara.

All Kren wants is his crest and distance — as much of it as the empire allows. Gather what's left of his people. Rebuild in the shadows. Find some way, any way, to claw back a decade of everything they've lost. He has no interest in the soon-to-be Dragon Empress, and even less interest in whatever she's planning next.

Elyvara has other plans.

By imperial law, succession demands the ruler take a consort from each of the five vassal kingdoms. Elyvara is the first woman ever to inherit the Zar Draconic throne in her own right — which means, for the first time in the empire's history, that law runs the other direction.

Five vassal princes. Five future husbands. Kren included.

But Elyvara isn't playing by the rules anyone expects. She issues a decree that sets the entire empire on fire: in six months, whichever of the five princes conquers and unites the most territory across their fractured empire won't just become her only husband.

He becomes Emperor. Bloodline elevated. Throne shared. Her equal in every way that matters.

For Kren and his people — weakest of the five, their strength suppressed for a decade, their numbers scattered and starving — this decree is a death sentence dressed up as an opportunity. By every measure that should matter, the N'korans are already finished.

Until the Sovereign Beast System awakens.

A power stranger and more mysterious than the crest itself. A means of growing stronger faster than any enemy could hope to track, let alone counter. Not just a path to survival — a path to revenge.

But the system makes one thing brutally clear from the very first moment: there is no true sovereignty that doesn't run straight back through Elyvara. No Black Lion stands above every throne on this continent while another sovereign holds a leash around his neck. To be free of her, Kren doesn't just have to survive her decree.

He has to win it. He has to become Emperor. And he has to become her master, not her pet.

War is coming — and with it, death, famine, and a continent about to remember exactly why the Black Lions were feared enough to be hunted to extinction in the first place.

Kren will be ready. Not just to protect what's left of his people.

But to burn down the throne that took everything from them, and build his own on top of it's ashes.
