The Sin System: My Wife is Envy
Chapter 92: The Dantian
The system message arrived at the second hour after he woke, while the sisters were still asleep and the house was in the quiet of early morning.
[Notice: Cross-World Time Compression active.]
[One day in the Origin World = one minute in the Novel World.]
[This ratio is fixed for the duration of the World Quest.]
He sat with this.
One day here. One minute there.
A month of training in this world would cost the novel world thirty minutes. A year would cost it six hours.
He looked at the ceiling.
In the novel world, Anastasia had been watching him get pulled through a rift. Tessira was probably doing something organized and practical about the situation. The dungeon’s secondary binding was either stabilizing or it was not, and the thing that had been asleep below the boss chamber was either still moving or it was not.
All of it running on a very different clock.
He thought about Veyra.
Not specifically, not in sequence. More the way a certain kind of quiet reminded him of the white space the absence of sound that was something other than empty. She had been good at silence. Not the silence of waiting for something to fill it. The silence of someone who had been alone long enough that the silence itself had become habitual and comfortable and hers.
He hoped she was somewhere with a ceiling.
He filed the information about the clock, decided it was either the best news or the worst news depending on how he used the time, and went to help with breakfast.

After breakfast, Yua cleared the table quickly, without asking, and Rui unrolled something from the shelf near the east wall.
A diagram.
The body, rendered in a style he had not seen before. Older than any medical illustration. The lines clean and deliberate, the internal structures mapped according to a system of flow rather than anatomy.
"Your mana heart," Rui said. "You mentioned it last night."
"Yes," he said.
"We do not have that here. Not the concept. Not the structure." She pointed to the diagram. "We have this."
Her finger rested on a point in the lower abdomen, slightly below and behind the navel.
"The dantian," she said. "The energy center. Qi gathers here, is refined here, is stored here. The core forms inside it when the cultivation has advanced far enough."
"A crystal," Yua said, from across the room, still holding her cup. "Compressed. Stable. The foundation everything else builds on."
"How is it different from a mana heart," he said.
Rui considered the diagram. "We do not know what a mana heart does. But from how you described it — a constructed structure, Silver grade, built rather than grown—"
"The core is not built," Yua said. "It cannot be rushed or constructed. The Qi accumulates, refines, condenses. Sometimes in a day. Sometimes over years. The practitioner creates the conditions. The core decides when."
"Qi flows through meridians," Rui said. She traced several lines on the diagram. "Channels through the body. The mana flows you use—are they channeled."
"Yes," he said.
"Then the concept is not foreign. The difference is origin and storage point. You have a mana heart at chest level. The dantian is lower. Whether the two can coexist in the same body..." She stopped. "I do not know."
"No one has had both," Yua said.
"That you know of," he said.
She tilted her head. "That we know of."
He looked at the diagram.
Through Ether Authority at low output he could feel his own mana heart, the Silver grade construction sitting in his chest where it had been since the cold floor of Itsuki Amagi’s estate room. Stable. It had been stable through the dungeon and the rift and two days of unconsciousness.
He reached his attention lower.
The dantian point on the diagram.
In his body, at that location, the ambient Qi that existed in this world had been accumulating since he arrived. Different from mana, running at a different frequency, present in the air and the stone and the wood of the house. Small. Unstructured. But present.
He withdrew his attention and did not mention it.
The scar was on Yua’s back.
He saw it in the late afternoon, when the training had moved to the cleared ground behind the house and Yua had removed her outer layer in the heat of the session. Running from the left shoulder blade diagonally toward the lower right, wide enough to suggest it had not been a clean wound, the skin around it slightly lighter than the surrounding.
Old. Several years at least.
She did not see him notice. Rui was watching her sister with the attention she wore when she was paying careful attention and not showing how careful.
He looked at the training form they had moved into. He did not ask. He watched instead, and learned the movement, and kept moving.
In the night he lay on his back and thought about the dantian.
The accumulation that had begun since he arrived. Small. Unstructured. The Qi of this world settling into the available space without being directed anywhere.
He thought about what Rui had said.
Accumulated, refined, condensed.
He thought about the mana heart and the Silver grade and the path between where he was now and whatever came next.
The system opened without him asking for it.
[Quest Generated: Foundation of a Second World]
[Objective: Form a Qi Core using the Origin World’s cultivation method.]
[Reward: ???]
[Note: You have a mana heart. A Qi core has not coexisted with a mana heart in any recorded case. Proceed accordingly.]
"Perfect timing," he said, to the ceiling.
Two energy systems. One body.
Nobody had ever survived both.
Itsuki smiled.
"Then I’ll be the first."
He closed his eyes and started.

The report ended with two names.
Not names.
Titles.
The Ice Queen Disciples.
The young master smiled.
"So they truly exist."
"They have rejected every sect that approached them," the servant said.
"Rejected?" He laughed softly. "Interesting."
He rose from his seat, looking toward the distant mountains hidden beyond the clouds.
"Beauty that cannot be obtained..."
His eyes narrowed.
"...is beauty worth claiming."
"There is one more matter, Young Master."
"What?"
"A man has appeared on their mountain."
The smile on his face slowly disappeared.
"A man?"
"His identity is unknown."
Silence.
"Find him."
"If he stands beside the Ice Queen Disciples..."
His fingers tightened around the jade cup.
"...then he has already become my enemy."
