Chapter 1950 - 1896–1897: Contemplating Arhat—The Advantage Is Ours
Chapter 1950: Chapter 1896–1897: Contemplating Arhat—The Advantage Is Ours
“Although these three immortal sects are named an alliance, what if the other two do not come to the rescue when we attack the Smoke and Mist Sacred Land?” an Arhat Venerate asked curiously.
Sometimes alliances are as unbreakable as solid coalitions, and sometimes these so-called alliances are not even worth mentioning. Just like this time, the Buddhism School’s alliance with the Jade Emperor, watching the Heterodox Alliance stir up storms within the Buddhism School’s territory, yet the Jade Emperor’s side remains motionless, allowing the flames of war to spread.
The powerful figures of the Buddhism School have always been domineering. Over the years, they have rarely formed alliances. This initial tentative alliance with the Jade Emperor saw their ally remain still like a mountain in the face of difficulties, which made some of the Arhat Venerates in the Buddhism School not very optimistic about this so-called alliance.
Although it is said that the three parties of the Smoke and Mist Sacred Land have been allied for many years, they only seem to help each other and advance and retreat together when not faced with an overwhelming disaster.
This time, their numerous strong ones, along with a powerful fleet, attacked as if they wanted to completely destroy all the sub-branches of the Smoke and Mist Sacred Land. This kind of danger could very likely lead to destruction. Will the other two immortal sects truly fight desperately to help?
“They will definitely come. The relationship between the three parties is not as unreliable as you think,” an Arhat Venerate stated with conviction.
Another Arhat Venerate sneered, “Actually, it would be better if they don’t come. That would give us the opportunity to defeat them one by one, making it easier to handle.”
The plan to attract the main forces of the three immortal sects and thus wipe them out in one fell swoop is indeed perfect and simple, very much in line with the requirements of Mahasthamaprapta.
However, this also has a great degree of uncontrollability for them. After all, their current force is sufficient to destroy any one side of the immortal sects, holding a huge advantage, but if all the forces of the three immortal sects unite, their advantage would quickly diminish, and there is a possibility of being overturned in the ditch.
“Rest assured, there’s no need to worry. This time, we have 800,000 against 600,000. The advantage is definitely in our hands; we absolutely cannot lose,” said the Contemplating Arhat, who advocated for this plan, confidently.
In Buddhism School, True Immortal strong can all be called Arhat Venerates, but there are different strengths among True Immortals, and there are also differences in power levels among Arhat Venerates within the Buddhism School.
For many Arhat Venerates, their differences sometimes manifest in their titles.
Strong individuals in the Buddhism School, after advancing to True Immortal or Taoist Monarch, will choose an honorific title that fits themselves. These titles originally come from those well-known Arhats, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas in Buddhism School legends.
This way of choosing and inheriting titles is somewhat similar to the True Spirit Great Achievement Map of the Taoist School and the Ancestral Witch Venerable Position of the Witch Deity Teaching. However, there are not many titles of the Ancestral Witch Venerable Position, even with some famous Grand Witch Venerable titles, compared to the many honorific titles of the Buddhism School, they are like a drop in the ocean.
Even the number of positions on the True Spirit Position Map of the Taoist School is far less than that of the Buddhism School.
As for those Taoist Monarch-level Bodhisattva strong ones in Buddhism School, their numbers are limited, and once these titles are chosen, later ones will not compete for them.
But the honorific titles of Arhat Venerates are completely different. Although there is the saying of Five Hundred Arhats and Three Thousand Jiedi Venerates, different Arhats and Jiedis also represent the status within the Buddhism School.
Although the Jiedi’s honorific titles are also suitable for True Immortals, and Arhats and Jiedis are of equal status, the Arhat positions are not yet full, so who would choose Jiedi’s position? Most strong individuals at True Immortal level in the Buddhism School choose to inherit the Arhat positions.
And although there are Five Hundred Arhat positions, most of the Arhat Venerate’s positions are little known to the outside world and even within the Buddhism School, they are quite obscure.
The power of faith itself is what Buddhism School excels in. Even Arhat Venerates who do not primarily cultivate the Immortal Path will not disdain having more of their faith power. Therefore, for an Arhat Venerate, having a widely reputed Arhat position also represents their future potential and status within the Buddhism School.
Undoubtedly, among the Five Hundred Arhat positions, the Eighteen Arhats are prominent figures, even renowned throughout the whole human race, with quite a number of followers. Being able to inherit such a position inherently occupies an advantage.
It can be said that among the many Arhat Venerates in the Buddhism School, the Arhat positions among the Eighteen Arhats are coveted by various True Immortals. Any Arhat occupying one of the Eighteen Arhats positions is certainly among the top figures of their peers in Buddhism School, with high status and extraordinary authority.
Of course, there are some True Immortal level Arhat Venerates who are not very keen on these Arhat positions, or perhaps their strength has made their reputation by their own prowess, like the Fearless Venerate who fought against Zhao Baiyang in the Myriad Laws Realm.
Although heavily injured in the Myriad Laws Realm, the formidable combat power displayed by the Fearless Venerate is recognized by all parties, and no one denies this fact.
The last time they ambushed Zhao Baiyang, Buddhism School dispatched several from the Eighteen Arhats. Even if they fell, the terrifying combat power they displayed was extremely strong among the same realm in the Realms of Heavenly Seas.
The one who spoke now is the Contemplating Arhat from the Eighteen Arhats. Although the Contemplating Arhat is not considered the strongest among the Eighteen Arhats, having strength comparable to several others such as the fallen Riding Deer Arhat, he is famous for his strategic intelligence, wielding not insignificant authority within the Buddhism School.
