The Side Character Who Wins by Doing Nothing
Chapter 450: I’ll Come Find You
"Right now, they’re all risking their lives in various Secret Realms and dangerous lands. It’s not time for them to return yet."
"They’ll definitely be happy to know you’ve woken up!"
Lu Sangjiu listened to the Medical Cultivator and couldn’t help but feel touched.
’It’s so good to have these friends and family around.’
But even as she felt touched, Lu Sangjiu couldn’t help but worry about Xie Ningyuan. "Then why isn’t he awake yet?"
"Mr. Xie’s injuries were even more severe than yours back then. It’s normal that he hasn’t woken up."
"However, you don’t need to be overly concerned. His injuries are steadily recovering. It’s only a matter of time before he wakes up."
Lu Sangjiu finally felt at ease and asked, "So, are any medicinal ingredients still needed for Xie Ningyuan? I’m all right now. After meditating for a bit, I’ll be able to go out and help search for them."
The old man was about to tell her not to rush, since her body had just recovered. But one look at her genuinely worried expression, and he decided against trying to dissuade her.
So, he took out a list of medicinal herbs and handed it to Lu Sangjiu. "Everyone who’s out searching has a copy of this. The Major Sects are also helping to keep an eye out. Whenever one of the required herbs appears anywhere, you two get top priority."
"You and Mr. Xie eliminated He Guang together. That was a great contribution to world peace, so everyone owes you a favor."
"So if you’re going to search, you’ll need to look in Secret Realms and other dangerous places yourself. If there’s no word from the Major Sects about them being available, then they probably can’t be found on the open market."
Lu Sangjiu was filled with emotion. ’I never thought that after my identity as Gu Huang was revealed to the world, I’d receive such gratitude and care from other Cultivators.’
’So, there’s no such thing as races being destined to be enemies. If you show true sincerity, you can earn sincerity in return.’
She put away the list of herbs, thanked him solemnly, and then took out her entire savings—a full hundred top-grade spirit stones. She offered them to him, saying, "My thanks to the Gold and Silver Gate for going to so much trouble for us. This is for the treatment."
The old man, however, hurriedly waved his hands. "I can’t possibly accept this!"
"The Gold and Silver Gate only put in a little effort to treat you two, how could we accept payment for that? As for the herbs, most of them were found by your friends. Others were found and delivered by other sects. They all did it voluntarily. No one ever mentioned Spirit Stones."
Lu Sangjiu was a little embarrassed. "But... to have you all put in so much work for nothing... I feel terrible."
"It’s nothing. What’s a little effort like this compared to the peaceful and prosperous world we have now?"
"Rest assured, Mr. Lu. I will continue to look after Mr. Xie. You may leave whenever you are ready."
After they had said all that needed to be said, the Medical Cultivator took his leave.
Lu Sangjiu didn’t rush to leave. Instead, she turned and looked at the Moon Spirit Coffin again.
The image of him unhesitatingly taking that blow for her during the final moments of the great battle resurfaced in her mind.
"What a fool."
Her gaze softened, and a faint smile touched her lips. "But... don’t you worry. King Yama doesn’t take fools like you."
"I’ll go find the herbs we need. You’ll be awake again soon."
After meditating for a moment to regulate her energy, Lu Sangjiu discovered that despite being unconscious for three years, her cultivation hadn’t regressed. In fact, it had advanced.
She had just advanced to the Body Integration Realm before falling unconscious, and now she was already at Mid-stage Integration.
After all, she had been treated with countless Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, as well as all sorts of spiritual pills and elixirs. Once her injuries were repaired, their inherent Spiritual Energy and medicinal potency had gathered in her Dantian, unknowingly pushing her cultivation forward.
Furthermore, the Gold and Silver Gate’s Moon Spirit Coffin was an incredible treasure. It could automatically absorb and gather the essence of the heavens and earth, particularly the Moon Spirit.
This was a great boon for the injured, but it could also help a person increase their cultivation.
With all these boons, on top of the luck that dog Ji Li had forced upon her, it wasn’t surprising that Lu Sangjiu had reached Mid-stage Integration.
After briefly regulating her energy and getting used to her body’s newfound power, Lu Sangjiu didn’t linger and left the Gold and Silver Gate directly.
To be honest, though, now that it was suddenly time to search for medicinal herbs, she felt a bit lost.
So, she simply boarded her Immortal Boat, letting it drift aimlessly as she used a Sound Transmission Talisman to contact the others.
’They risked their lives for me,’ she thought. ’Now that I’m awake, I have to let them know as soon as possible.’
Besides, she needed to coordinate with them to be more efficient—to find out which herbs on the list were already being sought and which were not.
However, most of them were inside Secret Realms and couldn’t be reached by the Communication Talisman.
After trying to contact everyone, only Chi Yan responded immediately.
Chi Yan: "Mr. Lu, you’re finally awake!!!"
It had been a long time, but Chi Yan was as boisterous as ever. She could tell from his excited tone that his happiness was genuine.
Lu Sangjiu couldn’t help but smile before replying, "Yeah, I’m awake. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me these past three years. Where are you now?"
"I just got out of a Secret Realm. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get anything from the list of needed herbs. I was just about to head to the next one when your message arrived."
He chuckled. "It’s so great that you’re awake! Too bad Mr. Xie hasn’t stirred yet, but I’m sure he’ll wake up soon too. Don’t you worry!"
’He even knows how to comfort people now.’
Lu Sangjiu’s smile widened. "Send me your coordinates. I’ll come find you."
After ending her conversation with Chi Yan, a message from Fa Shan came through.
"You’re awake!"
Lu Sangjiu thanked him as well and then asked for his location.
"I’m a Demon Cultivator, so I can’t enter many of the Cultivation World’s Secret Realms. I’ve just been accompanying Feng Lin to explore some dangerous areas."
"We’re in the snowy mountains right now, tracking down a Nine-Tiered Fox Demon, so we can’t return for the time being."
Feng Lin’s cultivation wasn’t high, but her strengths were her calm demeanor and intelligence. With Fa Shan by her side to protect her, the two of them made a reassuring pair.
Lu Sangjiu decided not to rush to find them. She simply replied that she would meet Chi Yan first and contact them again later.
Putting away her Immortal Boat, Lu Sangjiu tore through the void and arrived directly at the coordinates Chi Yan had sent.
As she stepped out, she saw many people below looking up at her with terrified expressions. Before she could even speak, they all dropped to their knees.
"Greetings, Senior!"
Their voices were so loud they made Lu Sangjiu’s eardrums ache.
Looking at the Cultivators kneeling all over the ground, Lu Sangjiu: "..."
’Ah... I’d forgotten. My cultivation is now considered extremely powerful in the Cultivation World. I’m at a level where people are expected to bow wherever I go.’
’Since this is a Secret Realm, of course Chi Yan wouldn’t be the only one here. I must have been asleep for so long that my brain has gone rusty. I didn’t consider that at all.’
Faced with this situation, Chi Yan was also completely bewildered. Standing alone in a crowd of kneeling people, he was particularly conspicuous.
’Uh... should I try to blend in and kneel, too?’
’But this is Mr. Lu... the same Mr. Lu he’d called a brother and shared drinks with. Should he really kneel?’
