Chapter 610: Chapter 613: A Sweet Dream

Hua Manman said matter-of-factly,

"We’ve been married for so many years, and our son is already so big. If we’re not an old married couple, what are we?"

Li Ji stared at her intently. "But didn’t you lose your memory? To you, I should be a complete stranger right now."

Hua Manman’s lips curved into a smile, her eyes crinkling into crescents.

"I’ve recovered my memories."

Li Ji thought he had misheard and couldn’t help but ask again.

"You’ve recovered what?"

Hua Manman: "I’ve recovered my memories."

Li Ji sat up abruptly, overcome with excitement.

"You remember everything?"

Hua Manman: "Mhm."

Li Ji asked urgently, "Then do you remember who I am?"

The words "Aren’t you just Li Ergou?" nearly slipped out, but thankfully, Hua Manman managed to swallow them back down.

She grinned and said, "You’re Li Ji, my husband, and Gou Dan’s father."

The surprise was so sudden that Li Ji almost thought he was dreaming.

He pinched Manman’s cheek hard. Seeing her gasp in pain, he finally confirmed he wasn’t dreaming.

’She really has recovered her memories!’

A feeling called excitement surged through Li Ji’s chest.

He leaned down to kiss Manman, but she pushed him away forcefully.

’This bastard just pinched my cheek so hard it hurts. There’s no way I’m letting him kiss me.’

Hua Manman pulled the blanket over her head and said in a muffled voice,

"I’m going to sleep. Don’t bother me!"

Li Ji lifted the blanket, slipped under, and pulled Manman into his arms, calling her name softly and gently.

"Manman."

Hua Manman answered with her eyes closed, "What is it?"

Li Ji chuckled. "Nothing. I just wanted to say your name."

A moment later, he called her name again.

Hua Manman was already incredibly sleepy and barely managed to reply, "Hm?"

Li Ji didn’t say why, just held her.

Just as Hua Manman was about to fall asleep, she suddenly heard the bastard call her name again.

"Manman."

Hua Manman: "..."

’Looks like there’s no sleeping tonight!’

She gave the bastard an annoyed shove.

"Go sleep in another room!"

Of course, Li Ji refused to let go, holding her tightly with both arms.

"I’m not leaving."

’He wouldn’t go anywhere but by her side.’

Hua Manman: "Then shut up and go to sleep. We can talk tomorrow."

This time, Li Ji finally behaved, closing his mouth and no longer disturbing Manman’s sleep.

The woman in his arms quickly fell into a deep sleep.

But Li Ji didn’t dare to sleep.

He was worried this was just a beautiful dream.

If he woke up, everything would go back to the way it was before.

And so, he stayed awake through the entire night.

「The next day at dawn.」

Hua Manman woke up in Li Ji’s arms.

After a full night’s rest, she felt much better, though the wound on her arm still hurt a little.

She looked up to find Li Ji watching her.

Noticing his eyes were bloodshot, she couldn’t help but ask,

"You didn’t stay up all night, did you?"

Li Ji denied it. "No."

’How could she not know him? The bastard was very sensitive and prone to feeling insecure. He must have been so dazed and unsettled by her sudden memory recovery that he couldn’t sleep all night.’

She threw off the covers, sat up, and said to Li Ji,

"I’m going to take a walk outside. You get some more sleep."

But Li Ji was unwilling and immediately sat up as well.

"I’ll go with you."

Hua Manman: "We have a long future ahead of us; there’s no need to rush this very moment. You get some rest. I’m going to the kitchen to make something to eat."

Her words, "We have a long future ahead of us," pleased Li Ji.

He obediently lay back down. "Then be back soon."

Hua Manman made an "OK" sign with her hand.

She swung her legs over Li Ji, got out of bed, and put on her shoes.

Li Ji reminded her, "Your clothes are draped over the screen."

Hua Manman walked over and took her clothes off the screen.

After getting dressed, she returned to the bedside, leaned over, and planted a kiss on Li Ji’s forehead with a loud SMOOCH.

"You get some rest. I’m leaving now."

Li Ji watched her leave the room, then raised a hand to touch his forehead and couldn’t help but smile.

He had already mentally prepared himself for the possibility that she would never recover her memories.

He never imagined that her memory would suddenly return.

To him, this was a heaven-sent surprise!

Having been awake all night, he was indeed exhausted. With the matter of Manman finally settled, a huge weight was lifted from his heart. His mind relaxed, and he soon fell into a deep sleep.

Just as Hua Manman stepped out the door, she came face to face with Yue Niang, who was walking toward her.

Yue Niang was pleasantly surprised. "Young Master, are you all right now?"

Hua Manman nodded. "Mhm."

Yue Niang was so overjoyed she began to cry.

"The Bodhisattva has blessed us! This is wonderful!"

Hua Manman asked, "Do you know where the kitchen is?"

Yue Niang nodded, indicating that she did.

"I was in the kitchen last night brewing your medicine."

She led Hua Manman toward the kitchen.

Along the way, they met many people, but they were all strangers wearing cloth armor, clearly not servants of the Yu Royal Mansion.

Yue Niang explained, "They are all soldiers under the Second Miss’s command."

If anyone else had occupied the Yu Royal Mansion, they would have certainly looted it clean.

But Lu Wanqing was different.

She was a member of the Yu Royal Mansion herself. This was the place where she was born and raised; it was her home. Of course, she wouldn’t let her subordinates run wild.

Therefore, almost everything inside the Yu Royal Mansion remained as it was.

With Yue Niang leading the way, Hua Manman quickly found the kitchen.

She first washed her face with hot water, then began to rinse rice, preparing to make congee.

Yue Niang hurriedly took the copper basin of rice from her.

"Let me handle rough chores like this. Your body has only just recovered; you can’t overexert yourself."

Hua Manman didn’t think it was much of an exertion at all.

But seeing Yue Niang’s eagerness to work and her "don’t you dare try to take this from me" attitude, Hua Manman was happy to take it easy.

When the rice congee was ready, Hua Manman scooped out two bowls of pickled vegetables from a jar.

She and Yue Niang ate the congee with the pickled vegetables.

The steaming hot rice congee paired with the savory and delicious pickled vegetables was, in one word, perfect!

A young man ran into the kitchen, panting as he spoke.

"Young Master, so you’re here! You really gave us a hard time finding you!"

Hua Manman looked at him. "What do you need me for?"

"The Second Miss wants to see you. Please come with me quickly."

Hua Manman hadn’t finished the congee in her bowl yet, but the man was urging her pressingly. She simply added two large chopsticks’ worth of pickled vegetables to her bowl and walked out of the kitchen house holding it.

"Let’s go."

The young man gave her a look that was hard to put into words.

He truly hadn’t expected the dignified Heir of Prince Yu to be such a glutton, unwilling to put down his rice bowl even in a situation like this.

’Compared to the Second Miss, who in their minds was resourceful, brave, and decisive, he was a far cry!’

Hua Manman had no idea what others were thinking.

She ate as she walked.

By the time she saw Lu Wanqing, she had just finished the last mouthful of congee in her bowl.
