The Shadow Wolf's Second Life: They Bullied The Wrong Omega
Chapter 65: We Are Unstoppable
"Silas!" I gasped out into the spiritual realm, looking around the dark, misty expanse of my soul. "I finally reached you! Where are you? I can’t see you."
Anarix... little Shade... I can feel you, I can see you, but I cannot reach you, hence, you cannot see me, Silas’s voice sounded strained, heavy with an agonizing restraint. My spirit is currently bound deep inside your soul. I don’t know how to reach you... I’ve been trying to break these damn chains binding me, but I cannot manifest in your body to give you my strength.
"Chains?" I frowned, my tactical mind working rapidly. "How do we break them?"
I have been weakened, so I need power, Silas growled softly in the dark. We have to find an artifact—something powerful enough to strengthen my spirit inside your soul. If my core is reinforced, I will be able to shatter the seals binding me.
An artifact. My brows pulled together. In this world, artifacts were rare, heavily guarded treasures. Most people only ever saw them as grand prizes in events like the Tournament of Power. But I needed Silas’s strength now to win that very tournament. Waiting was not an option.
To get an artifact of that caliber, I needed a source—someone immensely wealthy and influential.
My mind instantly flashed to two figures: Edgar and Benjamin. Both possessed endless resources.
Then, a thought came to mind. I recalled how close I had felt to Silas the previous day, right after being exposed to Benjamin’s specialized cigarette smoke. And it seemed that my speculation had been right, because once I kissed him again to inhale the smoke, whatever seal that was binding Silas was weakened, that was why I was able to now speak with him.
"Silas," I asked quickly. "The smoke from earlier—the chemical component I inhaled—it weakened the seal, didn’t it? What if I get more of it to weaken the seal even more and then you can break free?"
I’m afraid that won’t be enough, Silas replied, his tone heavy. That compound can only temporarily dull the seal’s resistance, but it cannot dull it enough for me to break it. I told you I was weakened. I need raw, concentrated energy to shatter it completely. Anarix... what happened out there? Your soul is so weak. That is why my own spirit was weakened, allowing these measly shackles to bind me in the first place. Have you been poisoned with wolfsbane?
I let out a bitter, cold breath in the dark void. Being poisoned with wolfsbane would’ve been a lot easier to handle.
"I was murdered, Silas," I revealed, the memory of my past life flashing behind my eyes. "Celestine killed me... on the Alpha’s direct orders. They betrayed me. I thought I died permanently, but somehow, my soul reincarnated into this world, ending up in this Omega girl’s body. I go by the name Brianna now. It seems the Moon Goddess gave me a second chance, but my soul is fragile, and this vessel is weak. I need you, Silas."
Brianna... Silas murmured, processing the revelation with a deep, furious rumble. It seems you have found yourself in a tight bind once again, my partner. Find that artifact, Brianna. That is the only way our link can be fully restored.
"Don’t worry," I assured him, a cold, dangerous smile touching my lips. "With you and me reunited, we are unstoppable. I’ll definitely get you out."
The next morning, I arrived at the Casino early. I went straight to Edgar’s office, stepping inside with complete composure. I found Edgar, but Benjamin was absent. Likely still sleeping. He was the one who told me to come early, and he was also the one who had told me before never to disturb him before noon. Arrogant heir can’t make up his mind.
Edgar was sitting behind his desk, a fresh cigar resting between his fingers as his golden eyes tracked my entrance.
"Little cat," he purred, leaning back. "Back so soon?"
"I’m here to discuss my preparation for the Tournament of Power," I said straightforwardly, leaning both hands against the edge of his desk. "As my investor, I need a specific resource from you."
Edgar raised an eyebrow, amused by my directness. "Oh? Name it."
"I need a high-grade spiritual artifact," I stated without blinking. "Something capable of reinforcing and stabilizing internal spirit energy. I need it to strengthen my core before I step into the arena."
I waited for him to push back, to question why an Omega would need a spirit artifact, but Edgar simply chuckled, tapping the ash off his cigar into the ashtray.
"Alright," he said, and I flinched.
"Just like that?" I asked, suspicious of how easily he agreed.
"Of course," Edgar replied smoothly, his golden eyes gleaming with predatory interest. "After all, I am your investor. I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of results you bring back once you’re fully armed."
I narrowed my eyes. "You’re giving it to me without argument?"
"I do have a condition, though," Edgar added, his voice dropping into a low, smooth purr.
A bad taste instantly coated my tongue. Anytime they say ’one condition’, it never bodes well.
I crossed my arms, looking down at him with a cold glare. "What is the condition?"
"Stay here," Edgar said simply, leaning back in his chair and resting his chin on his hand. "Move into the suite until the Tournament. I have the best training facilities, top-tier recovery baths, and a high-grade spirit artifact under lock and key in the floor above this one. It’s easier to monitor my investment if you’re under my roof."
I didn’t even hesitate. "My parents would never allow it." They would kill me with concern if they knew I was going to be living with a man, and an Alpha on top of it.
Edgar raised an eyebrow, a faint, curious glint in his golden eyes. "And if they did? Would you come?"
"In a heartbeat," I answered with a single nod.
Of course I would, I thought silently. This place had endless resources, private security, high-end food, and I could get to the training facilities easily. It was lightyears ahead of that cramped, rundown suburban house—Thought I’m grateful they provide and put a roof above my head. But as an assassin, moving into a fully equipped fortress was a no-brainer.
Edgar went quiet for a moment. He didn’t push the issue, but a subtle, unreadable calculation flickered behind his eyes—a thought he kept entirely to himself.
"Well, since your parents are an obstacle... for now," Edgar murmured, leaning forward and placing his elbows on the desk. "Let me change the terms,"
I was more than ready to accept before I heard the condition.
"Allow me to erase my nephew’s scent from your neck. It... is getting on my nerves."
