The Shadow Wolf's Second Life: They Bullied The Wrong Omega
Chapter 61: Edgar’s Suite
After a while in that position, I began to feel stuffy again. We couldn’t stay like this any longer. I needed air.
"Benjamin, I don’t think I need to go up into the casino or rest in the suite," I said, my voice cutting through the heavy quiet inside the car.
Benjamin lifted his head from the crook of my neck, his dark purple eyes locking onto mine with a faint, questioning tilt of his head.
"Why?" he asked out loud, his tone laced with genuine confusion. "There’ll be no one to judge me, it’s very comfortable, and you can rest without being disturbed."
"But—"
"Don’t turn it down, Brianna," Benjamin interrupted softly, his thumb lightly tracing the side of my waist. "I’d hate for anyone to see you and think you’re being treated poorly."
"Because I’m your companion?"
A beat passed before he finally answered, "Yes. I don’t want people to think you became like this from going around with me."
So, he doesn’t want to be misunderstood as the rutting Alpha who couldn’t keep his hands off an omega. Makes sense. Very logical.
"I see." I looked aside, letting out a quiet breath as I calculated my options. I also wouldn’t want to worry my parents by going back like this. "Well, I’ll rest for just an hour. If you can get me clean clothes, I’d appreciate it."
"Yes," his whole face lit up. "Leave it to me,"
The whole essence of agreeing to rest was simply to give the lingering scent of that rutting Alpha time to fade away, along with the chaotic mix of smells clinging to my skin. A fresh change of clothes was far more important to me right now than a soft bed.
Eventually, we finally stepped out of the sedan and moved through a quiet side entrance, taking a private elevator straight up to the executive suite I didn’t know the casino had until now.
It was past four in the afternoon, so we both assumed Edgar would be busy down in his main office on the lower floors.
The double doors swung open, and I came face-to-face with the lavish, expensively decorated suite. But the moment my boots crossed the threshold, the first thing that hit me wasn’t the gold trim or the plush velvet—it was the overwhelming scent saturating the air.
It smelled heavily of Edgar. Every single corner of the room was practically drowned in his metallic, golden Alpha pressure. For someone like Benjamin, who had grown up around his uncle’s aura, he probably didn’t even notice how thick it was lingering in the room.
But to my sharp, hyper-aware senses, it was suffocating.
"Wait here. I’ll send someone to get you new clothes," Benjamin said, pausing near the doorway. He pulled a cigarette from his pocket, sparked it, and stepped back out into the corridor for a second to take a drag while he made the call.
I stayed behind, my eyes slowly sweeping across the grand room. Benjamin’s coat was still draped over my shoulders, keeping me warm, but the air in the suite felt strangely aggressive. The heavy scent clinging to the walls didn’t feel like a living space—it felt like someone was deliberately trying to mark every inch of the territory.
Click.
The sound of a door unlatching echoed across the room.
I whipped my head toward what looked like the bathroom door. The door opened and steam rushed out.
A man stepped out into the steam, steam still rolling off his sun-kissed, brutally sculpted frame. He had nothing on but a white towel tied loosely around his low hips, water droplets glistening as they ran down his broad chest and rock abs.
His fierce golden eyes landed directly on me, making my muscles instantly tense in a subconscious flinch.
He froze, his gaze locking onto mine until recognition settled into his sharp features.
"Little cat?" Edgar asked, his voice dropping into a low rumble. "What are you doing here?"
Before I could answer, his nose twitched. His golden eyes narrowed as he caught the heavy, suffocating mix of scents clinging to my body—not just the lingering trace of the rutting wolf from earlier, but the fresh, dominant scent of his own nephew bathed all over me.
Edgar took a slow, dangerous step forward, his jaw tight.
"Are you trying to provoke me right now?"
I blinked, genuinely caught off guard by the sudden hostility radiating off him. "What?"
Edgar didn’t answer right away. He took another slow, deliberate step out of the bathroom doorway, barefoot on the polished marble floor. Bare chest, damp dark hair clinging to his forehead, and those golden eyes burning with an intense, suffocating heat that instantly made the air in the suite twice as heavy.
"You walk out of my office after throwing a fit, and then you turn around and come straight to my personal suite..." Edgar’s voice was a low, dangerous growl that vibrated through the floorboards. His gaze dragged down from my face, taking in Benjamin’s heavy coat draped over my shoulders, before locking back onto my eyes. "Wearing my nephew’s coat. Drenched in his scent. Standing in my room like you own it."
He stopped just a few feet away from me, water still dripping from his hair onto his collarbone.
"I just came here to rest, Edgar," I said, though the words barley made it out through my lips.
"Tell me, little cat," he murmured, his golden eyes narrowing into dangerous slits. "Did you really come up here to rest, or are you intentionally testing how much self-control an Alpha has when he’s been tempted time and time again?"
I stared at him, my initial confusion quickly hardening into a wall of sharp, deadpan annoyance.
"I didn’t come here to see you," I said coldly, pulling Benjamin’s coat a little tighter around my chest. "We assumed you were downstairs in your office. Benjamin brought me here to rest for an hour and get a change of clothes."
"Benjamin brought you here?" Edgar repeated, a faint, disbelieving scoff escaping his lips.
He tilted his head, his sharp nose twitching again as he inhaled the air between us. The metallic, heavy tang of his own territorial scent flared, instinctively trying to drown out Benjamin’s lingering scent on my skin.
"My nephew—the same nephew who doesn’t let a single soul within five feet of him—personally escorted you into my private suite? It seems there’s something going on I’m not in the loop of, little cat. Care to enlighten this investor?"
