Chapter 967: Chapter 34: Turmoil (Part 2)
Besides being upset, there was also curiosity.
“So, I’m a bit curious, what kind of examination results would make your names be listed alongside Augustus, or even before him?” Matthew spoke up, though he didn’t say whom he was addressing, everyone understood.
Although they were in the same tier and enjoyed the same resources, there were still rankings within, for example, Matthew was first in the S tier, Saye was first in the A tier.
Then, Xu Mo was first in the SS tier, Zero second.
Augustus, third.
The Mystic God Temple doesn’t rank randomly.
As Matthew’s voice fell, everyone’s gaze simultaneously turned to Xu Mo and Zero. They were curious about what kind of exams the two had gone through for their names to be placed at the forefront.
Feeling the gazes from everyone, Xu Mo was speechless. Indeed, he had become the target of attention.
Being in this position, it’s hard not to be noticed. Everyone was just looking to see where they were, but unexpectedly saw this, some people were unconvinced, some curious, but more adopted a watchful attitude.
Xu Mo and Zero were first, while Augustus was ranked third in the SS tier.
Matthew and Hudson were listed in the second tier, and Saye, who had previous conflicts with Xu Mo, directly went to the S tier, so there was a show to watch…
“I haven’t received the examination results.” Xu Mo spoke up feeling everyone’s gaze, he too was curious.
“Want to spar?” a voice sounded, it was Hudson who ranked third on the points list.
Hudson had a distinctive appearance, his skin glowed with a metallic sheen. He wasn’t from Chloe Star but from another alien planet, belonging to a special human race here for study.
Matthew was also from another planet.
Hudson was a battle maniac, no one wanted to fight him head-on, even Matthew, who was second on the points list, didn’t want to face Hudson, who was very dangerous.
Xu Mo looked into Hudson’s metal-like eyes, bright and cold, and he said, “I concede.”
“This…” Xu Mo’s decisiveness left people speechless. Conceding so directly?
This way, there was no way to deal with Xu Mo.
Regarding the rankings, being in the top tier naturally satisfied Xu Mo, as it meant getting better cultivation resources.
Since he was already in this position, why accept Hudson’s challenge?
He bore no grudges with Hudson; he could understand Hudson’s displeasure, so why waste time fighting?
Moreover, he might suffer a defeat, and losing while in the first position would be quite humiliating.
So, Xu Mo simply avoided the fight.
Indeed, hearing Xu Mo’s direct concession, Hudson was left without options because the ranking was from the Mystic God Temple, and picking a fight with Xu Mo would not serve much purpose; if dissatisfied, why not challenge the Temple?
In the end, Hudson could only leave, albeit displeased, but that was the only option. He vowed to regain the SS position.
After Hudson left, Matthew approached Xu Mo. While everyone thought a conflict might ensue, Matthew extended his hand and said, “Nice to meet you, Matthew.”
“Xu Mo.”
Xu Mo shook hands with him, though he was somewhat wary of Matthew.
In the SS tier, three names could be considered as equals.
But Matthew had deliberately pointed out before that his and Zero’s names were ahead of Augustus, a remark with deep implications.
Though Augustus wasn’t present, what would he think if he heard this?
Xu Mo and Zero, ahead of him.
Matthew seemed unconcerned outwardly, even shaking hands, but was he truly unconcerned?
Even if he was concerned, who could alter the decision of the Mystic God Temple?
Moreover, he knew well that the Temple placed Xu Mo and Zero’s names there because they must be extraordinarily talented in some respect.
Matthew also left the area.
Since neither Matthew nor Hudson said anything more, the others naturally had nothing left to say. Saye, although very displeased with this, was already Xu Mo’s defeated opponent, so what could he do?
He didn’t even have the right to challenge.
So, everyone gradually dispersed.
Another person displeased with the situation was Gisman, ranked eighth on the points list. He had recently been chatting with Erin Uranos, claiming he would take care of Erin Uranos.
Even though he maintained his tenth position, not being edged out, Xu Mo’s name was still at the top.
No comparison, no harm.
“What a pleasant surprise.” Erin Uranos walked over to Xu Mo and Zero, leading first and second. Those placements represented much more than just names at the top.
The significance behind it was extraordinary.
This was the Holy Land, the Mystic God Temple, selecting 300 geniuses and transcendants, and Xu Mo and Zero’s names were ahead of Augustus.
Skywalker, undoubtedly, in hopes of reaching even the legendary realm.
“I’m surprised too,” said Xu Mo, genuinely surprised.
The first day in the Temple brought such a delightful surprise.
“In the future, I must ask Mr. Xu Mo to take care of me,” Erin Uranos said. Previously, her father’s suggestion was mere politeness, but when Erin Uranos requested it now, it held altogether different significance.
Gisman’s face was unsightly when he heard Erin Uranos’ words. Without greeting anyone, he left directly.
After the crowd dispersed, Xu Mo and company also departed.
A figure arrived, standing alone in front of the ranking list.
Points list first, Augustus.
Xu Mo and Zero’s names were ahead of his.
…
The ranking within the Mystic God Temple caused ripples not just within the Temple but also outside, stirring waves.
Soon, media outlets got word of the rankings within the Temple. For a while, Xu Mo and Zero’s names were on the headlines of all major media.
These two names, how did they stand beside Augustus, and surpass Matthew and Hudson?
The Uranos Family, Gao Hong, was also informed and pleased for Xu Mo.
At that moment, Hodge Uranos came over.
“Mr. Gao Hong,” Hodge called out.
“Mr. Hodge,” Gao Hong responded.
“Are you settling in well here?” asked Hodge.
“Quite well,” nodded Gao Hong.
“Did Mr. Gao Hong hear about Xu Mo being at the top of the ranking in the Mystic God Temple?” Hodge inquired with a smile.
“Yes, just heard,” replied Gao Hong.
“This calls for a celebration. Would Mr. Gao Hong join me for a few drinks?” Hodge suggested with a smile. Gao Hong paused, since previously Hodge was courteous but distant due to their status gap.
Now, with Hodge inviting him for a drink, Gao Hong felt waves inside; he knew it was because of Xu Mo’s influence that Hodge’s attitude toward him was also changing.
“Sure,” Gao Hong, being straightforward, agreed readily. The two of them walked outside, shoulder to shoulder.
Hodge was well aware of the significance of the first and second positions in the Mystic God Temple ranking. When Erin told him the news, Hodge’s first thought was it’s a pity Xu Mo had a girlfriend, who was equally excellent.
Otherwise, Erin would be a good match.
Although that path was closed, he instructed Erin to maintain good relations with Xu Mo. If there was friction between Gisman and Xu Mo, then sacrifices would be made, of course it would be Gisman, and not to waver in decision.
“Mr. Gao Hong, did you know Tis Palace made the headlines?” Hodge Uranos joked.
“The headlines?” inquired Gao Hong.
“Yes, regarding the eleventh-placed Saye, abandoning the first and second and fostering enmity. Who else deserves headlines?” Hodge Uranos was in high spirits. Tis Palace had now become the largest joke on Chloe Star. Had they not abandoned Xu Mo and Zero, what a scene it could have been?
Tis Palace would have been invincible.
“I think the Palace Master now harbors the idea of slaughtering the entire families of Roso and Hollen,” Hodge jested.
