The Seventh Base

Chapter 900: 4: Execution

Chapter 900: Chapter 4: Execution

“How powerful is the Church’s influence?” Xu Mo asked Lan Jue.

Solan dares to be so reckless, he must have some backing, and apart from his own strength, his greatest support is naturally the Church. Even knowing he possesses a formidable warship, Solan still wants to plunder it forcefully, even labeling him with a charge of blasphemy, aiming to put him to death.

This means the Church fears no force.

“Followers of the Source God Sect are already spread across the republic and the Empire. On every planet, the Church exists. To put it without exaggeration, if the Pope issues an order, the number of Church participants in a battle can exceed the republic and Empire’s armies,” Lan Jue explained to Xu Mo with a grave expression.

“Moreover, the Church is the strongest gathering place for cultivators in the universe. They recruit countless powerful Transcendents, and the Church has unique cultivation methods that attract many Transcendents to join them. A planet’s bishop generally has a Source Power Level of the ‘Peril’ tier. Above them, archbishops are typically Skywalkers, and on those capital stars, above archbishops, there are Red Archbishops.”

“As for the Pope himself, he is said to be one of the most powerful known beings in the universe.”

Listening to Lan Jue’s introduction, Xu Mo roughly understood the Church’s overwhelming strength. The Church’s highest leader, known as the Pope, is an apex existence in the known universe. This level of person can essentially kill any other individual except for a few exceptions.

It appears that the Source God Sect mainly cultivates Source Power and spreads teachings in the name of God, highly valuing personal cultivation.

“The Church also has a terrifying aspect: strict hierarchy and disciplined control. It possesses a level of control that the republic and Empire do not have. The Church is extremely united; once someone is sentenced to death by the Church, death is nearly certain. Neither the republic nor the Empire dares to offend the Church,” Lan Jue said. “Xu Mo, your best option now is to return to the warship and leave. This way, you’ll only offend Solan, and it won’t spread upwards.”

Lan Jue sees this as Xu Mo’s only path to survival right now. As long as he gets on the warship and leaves, Solan won’t be able to pursue him, and once he’s on the ship, Solan can’t do anything to him.

“So, Solan wants my life and my warship, but I can’t touch him?” Xu Mo roughly understood.

Lan Jue frowned tightly and said, “Xu Mo, if you kill a church bishop, you might provoke the Church’s pursuit, and then…”

Xu Mo nodded, understanding why Solan dares to be so brazen and fearless.

“I’ll kill Solan and then leave on the warship. General Lan Qing, will you leave Lansiding Star with me?” Xu Mo asked Lan Jue, causing him to be stunned.

Xu Mo plans to kill Solan?

Lan Jue’s expression shifted as if hesitating. Not to mention whether Xu Mo can kill Solan, if he succeeds, the Church will surely send someone to investigate, and it will reach the Governor’s Mansion. He doesn’t dare to get involved, as it would put Lan Qing in dangerous territory.

Moreover, he merely wants to complete a transaction with Xu Mo, and they don’t share a life-threatening bond.

But the key is, if Xu Mo succeeds, will Lan Qing leave?

“Father, I will stay with you,” Lan Qing said, knowing the crisis Lansiding Star faces. Lan Jue wants to send her away so she won’t continue to risk herself, especially since her two brothers have already died in battle.

Lan Jue glanced at his daughter and instructed, “Pack your things, get ready to leave.”

“Governor, General Lan Qing, how much capital does she have in the Imperial First Bank?” Xu Mo asked, needing to clarify certain matters; since it’s a transaction, he must know what he stands to gain.

“A few billion Silver Star Coins,” Lan Jue replied.

“Are Silver Star Coins universal across different planets?” Xu Mo asked.

Lan Jue gave Xu Mo a somewhat surprised look, indicating that Xu Mo is indeed a traveler, unfamiliar with even the currency.

“Yes,” Lan Jue nodded. “Silver Star Coins have persisted since the Empire era, universal across the republic and Empire. During the Empire’s countless years of rule, they unified language and currency to facilitate communication and trading among different planets.”

“Got it,” Xu Mo nodded, realizing that if he were to conduct business with the republic, there’s much to prepare. However, without a solid base, it’s probably unfeasible; in this chaotic era, safety is uncertain. Building a base here could be seized and destroyed easily.

He just arrived, and someone is already trying to rob the warship, let alone starting trade.

“General Lan Qing, prepare yourself, and you can stealthily head to the warship. There are people inside it,” Xu Mo said to Lan Qing, prompting Lan Jue to show a flicker of surprise.

It seems Xu Mo has made preparations, leaving someone to operate the warship.

But even so, Solan has likely been monitoring the warship’s movements. Capturing Xu Mo, the Captain, would allow him to control the ship.

“Lan Qing, come with me,” Lan Jue instructed, leading Lan Qing away from the area. He needed to arrange some Deadpool guards for her. While Xu Mo might want to seize Lan Qing, that would mean not getting their Imperial First Bank deposits, but precautionary measures are nonetheless necessary.

Xu Mo then got up and headed outside. He planned to confront the Church’s bishop, where a single disagreement could lead to a deadly encounter; if he has no cards to play, even a simple meeting would mark the end.
