The Rule-Breaker of the Doomsday Game

Chapter 407: The Church’s Divine Techniques Are Just as Illogical as the Blood Race’s Abilities

  • Next Chapter

The Female Governor General was, in fact, quite clear on the state of the war.

After all, she was a Governor General. If she was truly clueless, she’d be useless.

"The main force is human, but the key to victory lies with the Blood Race."

"The Demon Faction is so brazenly attacking your Secret Faction’s territory, and that Blood Bath Queen has no reaction at all?" Qi Suian asked curiously.

This wasn’t just an attack on a Toredor Clan colony; it was a slap in the face to the Blood Bath Queen.

"There are rumors in the clan that the Queen refused our request," the Female Governor General said hesitantly.

"Then why did the Son of the Dragon suddenly start a war and move against the human kingdoms?" Qi Suian temporarily ignored the question of why the Blood Bath Queen would refuse to send aid.

It could only be a matter of profit and reputation. What else could it be?

Vlad III, Son of the Dragon, on the other hand—his move was far too sudden.

"To destroy the church and complete the grand achievement of ruling humanity." The Female Governor General gave an answer that was well within Qi Suian’s expectations.

But Qi Suian shook his head. "That can’t be it."

"The timing isn’t right. He could have done this before. For him to make a move so suddenly, there must be another reason."

Anyone can shout slogans, but the move by Vlad III, Son of the Dragon, was extremely abrupt, more like a spur-of-the-moment decision.

If nothing unexpected happened, there must be a problem within the church. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have acted so hastily.

The Blood Race’s Blood Bath Queen definitely knew about this.

Although she belonged to the Secret Faction, she wouldn’t go so far as to stop the Son of the Dragon’s rise just to maintain the human population.

After all, if the Son of the Dragon truly succeeded, their Secret Faction could completely integrate into his dynasty and become part of the ruling class.

If they won, they’d get a cut. If they lost, it wouldn’t affect them. The only sacrifice was one of the Toredor Clan’s garden kingdoms. And it’s not as if the Toredor Clan only had one of those.

At worst, they could just cultivate a new one and compensate them afterward.

"But then again, regardless of success or failure, this is a good thing. It’s just the Phoenician Kingdom. Giving it to the Son of the Dragon is no big deal for you."

"So why insist on fighting the Demon Faction? The Blood Bath Queen isn’t helping you. It’s only a matter of time before you lose," Qi Suian said.

The Demon Faction had only two clans, yet it could stand on equal footing with the Secret Faction’s seven clans. To say they weren’t capable would be a lie.

Therefore, the Toredor Clan alone was no match for the Son of the Dragon and the Wallachia Kingdom.

Under normal circumstances, they should have conducted a full withdrawal from the Phoenician Kingdom. If the Son of the Dragon wanted it, they should have just let him have it instead of fighting to the death.

"It was an order from the clan Elders." The Female Governor General’s thoughts were similar to Qi Suian’s. Losing a garden kingdom would indeed leave them a bit tight.

But it wasn’t like they couldn’t make up for it later. After all, they had sacrificed their own interests for the good of the Blood Race. Surely they wouldn’t get nothing in return.

"So, there must be some unknown secret behind all this," Qi Suian said, settling the matter.

Then his gaze fell upon the Female Governor General. "Anything else to say?"

If not, Qi Suian planned to toss her into the Melting Furnace as fuel.

’What’s the point of keeping someone who’s lost their value?’

Good looks couldn’t be eaten, and besides, Qi Suian no longer needed to eat. Even if they could be, it would be useless to him.

"I... If you let me go, I can give you the Embrace and make you an immortal member of the Blood Race." The Female Governor General could see that Qi Suian intended to kill her.

So, she made her offer.

Qi Suian rolled his eyes. "In your dreams."

’This one really thinks becoming one of the Blood Race is some great thing, doesn’t she? Let alone being Embraced by her.’

’Not only would I become her fledgling, but she would also control my true name. Wouldn’t that put me under her thumb?’

"It seems you have nothing better to offer. In that case, I’ll send you to your death." Qi Suian grabbed the Female Governor General and shoved her directly into the Melting Furnace.

Letting her keep Baron Fisher company.

Only, Baron Fisher probably couldn’t accompany her for long, as he was already more than half-burnt.

"I can probably evolve again." After estimating the evolutionary energy the Female Governor General could provide, Qi Suian revealed a satisfied smile.

He loved these kinds of Extraordinary Life Forms—weak, yet possessing abilities tied to rules and concepts.

Their fuel value was high, and they were also very easy to catch.

’It seems I can get involved in the war in the Phoenician Kingdom.’

’The Female Governor General’s words implied that Demonic Puppets will appear on the battlefield.’

’Even if I can’t get any Demonic Puppets, I can still get my hands on some Blood Race members for fuel.’ Qi Suian was already picturing the scene of countless Blood Race members being stuffed into the Melting Furnace as fuel.

Qi Suian actually felt a bit helpless. The Blood Race’s Extraordinary system was of pitifully low value to him.

The power of an Extraordinary system and its value to Qi Suian were two completely different things.

It wasn’t that stronger systems were more valuable; he had to consider his own circumstances.

So, rather than studying the Blood Race, Qi Suian would be better off just stealing the Thirteen Sacred Artifacts.

However, that was no small matter.

The Blood Race was definitely not as simple as it appeared on the surface.

The First Generation Blood Race had vanished. Of the Second Generation, only the Blood Bath Queen was known, and she didn’t involve herself in affairs.

Among the Third Generation, Vlad III, Son of the Dragon, had the momentum to swallow the world whole.

Qi Suian estimated that he was likely no match for the Son of the Dragon.

The man’s father was the Second Generation Blood Race member, Piercing Demon Dracula—a figure of great renown, at least to Qi Suian.

The Blood Race also had a theory of bloodlines: the higher the generation, the greater the power.

Take the Thirteen Sacred Artifacts of the Blood Race, for example. To use one, you had to be at least a Fifth Generation Blood Race member.

Generally, they were controlled by the Third Generation.

The Elders of the various clans all belonged to this level.

The Second Generation above them were already transcendent beings. Currently, the only known ones were the Piercing Demon and the Blood Bath Queen.

The others were nowhere to be found.

Therefore, the mainstream rulers were all Third Generation Blood Race.

As for those further down the line, there was nothing more to say. Qi Suian was completely confident in dealing with them.

After cleaning up the secret room, Qi Suian slowly opened the door and walked out.

He turned a corner and saw a familiar face.

Discipline Priest Roy.

"Lord Baron Fisher, you were just in contact with a demon, weren’t you?" the man said, looking at Qi Suian.

"Pastor Roy, I recall you were supposed to go to Kapuli Village, not be in my castle," Qi Suian said, his expression unchanging.

He began to adjust his perception. To his surprise, he hadn’t detected him.

And yet, the man was standing right before him, as real as could be.

His power wasn’t strong, but he was so bizarre that neither Qi Suian’s perception nor his Tai Sui God module could detect him.

He could only be seen through direct physical observation.

’No wonder the church can stand against the Blood Race with its Divine Techniques. It’s truly not so simple,’ Qi Suian thought to himself.

"Of course. I did go. The one left here was another me."

"Initially, I was meant to protect your safety, Lord Baron Fisher. I just didn’t expect you to be colluding with a demon," Pastor Roy said softly.

As he spoke, he also unhooked the flail from his waist.

"Why do you assume I was colluding with a demon, and not that I killed it?" Qi Suian retorted.

"The Governor General of the Toredor Clan. She came to your castle from the battlefield."

"And you are but a Baron of the Grand Kingdom. What do you think?" As Pastor Roy spoke, a flash of Holy Light glinted on his flail.

Qi Suian felt a sense of discomfort.

It was the kind of discomfort one felt when the sacred radiance that purifies evil and heresy shone upon them.

The Abyssal Virus on him was not a good thing to begin with.

As for twisting concepts, arguing that a virus is also a life form and not something evil?

Qi Suian would have liked to, but the other side wouldn’t accept it. You can’t just twist reality by opening your mouth, using sophistry to render your opponent speechless.

If they can’t out-argue you, they’ll just smash you, not stand there red-faced with frustration.

"I can explain." Qi Suian could tell that the Divine Technique his opponent had cast on the flail was like a low-budget version of a Divine Purification Force Field.

It couldn’t completely target the Abyssal Virus, but it could produce a damage-amplifying effect.

If it were a member of the Blood Race, however, it would be a different story. One strike from that flail could probably damage their dark power directly.

"Please do, but it must be a legal and reasonable explanation." Pastor Roy didn’t attack immediately, instead waiting for Qi Suian to provide an explanation.

The church was quite tolerant towards humans. Towards the Blood Race, on the other hand, they didn’t care about reasons.

It was a good thing Baron Fisher had a new core, with the original currently serving as fuel in Qi Suian’s Melting Furnace.

Otherwise, Roy would have hammered him to a pulp on the spot.

Normally, one wouldn’t be able to tell, but given the current situation, Pastor Roy must have used a Divine Technique like ’Detect Blood Race’ to confirm his identity.

Qi Suian wasn’t of the Blood Race, so he must be human.

That’s why Pastor Roy accused Qi Suian of colluding with a demon.

’AI, I’m leaving it to you. You must concoct a lie that Pastor Roy will believe.’ Qi Suian directly passed the buck to his AI.

The AI immediately provided Qi Suian with a script and instructed him to control his facial expressions and body language.

"This matter goes all the way back to..." Qi Suian began reciting the script, using his own self-control and modules to appear extremely sincere.

"I can believe the explanation you’ve given, but you must go to the nearest church for a baptism by the church."

"I have already notified a Cardinal. I hope that you, Lord Baron, can arrive within three days. Otherwise, the church will subject you to further investigation, or even declare you a wanted man."

After speaking, Pastor Roy’s figure dissolved into motes of light and vanished.

Apparently, this was indeed a Divine Technique he had left in Fisher Castle for protection. He just hadn’t expected it to be triggered like this.

"Of course, no problem. I will definitely arrive on time." Qi Suian showed a smile.

He happened to be lacking a suitable opportunity to make contact with the church, and now one had been delivered right to him.

The so-called baptism was a screening and purification process, used to determine if one’s mind had been twisted or soul had been eroded by the Blood Race.
