The Rule-Breaker of the Doomsday Game
Chapter 384: Qiankun Shifting Treasure? I’ll Just Make One Up for You
"It took you long enough. You’ve finally prepared it for me. I was starting to think you wouldn’t give me the final payment until after I was dead." Qi Suian looked at the two small boxes in his hands.
One contained the humanity of ghosts, and the other contained ghosts that had been processed in the truth layer.
Five portions of each, for a total of ten.
This was the final payment Emperor Zhiyue had promised Qi Suian.
This morning, he had been notified to come and pick it up. It truly hadn’t been easy.
He had thought he’d never get his hands on it. Qi Suian was already planning to ask the world will for reimbursement the next time he saw it.
But then, just like that, they had handed it over.
"It’s all thanks to the help from the *Taishang Pure Yang Sword Qi* you provided. Otherwise, the Royal Family wouldn’t have been able to make such rapid progress." Emperor Zhiyue wasn’t lying.
Of course, the Royal Family couldn’t just directly use the *Taishang Pure Yang Sword Qi*. Instead, they used the technique as a reference to develop their own suitable Yang Qi Weapon.
The Yang Qi Blade, derived from the living body observation device, was only suitable for Qi Suian, not the Zhiyue People. After all, their systems were completely different, so how could they just copy it wholesale?
If they truly tried to copy it wholesale, it would only lead to immense losses.
Therefore, using it for reference and inspiration was extremely useful. The Royal Family quickly developed a Yang Qi Weapon suitable for the Royal Shadow Guard.
Otherwise, it really wouldn’t have been so easy to obtain, as Qi Suian’s demands were indeed difficult to meet.
"I also have a *Qiankun Shifting Treasure* here. It can transfer damage caused by ghosts onto the treasure itself."
"However, it has some flaws. It can’t transfer direct physical damage. For example, it wouldn’t work if a Hanged Ghost tried to strangle you with its white silk."
"But if a Golden Body Ghost tried to turn you into gold, you could transfer the effect to the treasure, letting it bear the curse for you," Qi Suian explained.
This made Emperor Zhiyue’s eyes light up. He said decisively, "Name your price!"
Since Qi Suian had brought it up, it meant he wanted to trade this technique for something.
Compared to the *Taishang Pure Yang Sword Qi*, the value of this damage-transferring *Qiankun Shifting Treasure* was much greater.
At the very least, the Royal Family hadn’t yet researched this kind of application for Yang Qi. More importantly, it could be used immediately upon acquisition, unlike a weapon that would require adjustments.
Of course, its value was still less than the Yang Qi extraction technology. After all, once they had Yang Qi, with the Royal Family’s capabilities, developing applications was only a matter of time.
But if they had a sample to work with directly, it would be much easier to develop their own suitable defensive measures later.
"You remember that box of gifts the Crown Prince sent me, right?" Qi Suian said bluntly. There was no way that had escaped the Emperor’s notice.
Emperor Zhiyue nodded. "I do. But which time are you referring to?"
"The last time. I found something I liked inside." As he spoke, Qi Suian took out a high-grade equipment Enhancement Stone. "Here, this is the stuff."
"Find me some more of these. If the quantity is right, I’ll give you the refinement method for the *Qiankun Shifting Treasure*."
Qi Suian was thinking of finding more Enhancement Stones to strengthen the Tai Sui God.
"What does this thing do?" Emperor Zhiyue took the high-grade equipment Enhancement Stone, examining it closely in his hand before asking.
He didn’t believe for a second that Qi Suian would be looking for such a gorgeous-looking stone for no reason.
Qi Suian wasn’t about to try and fob off Emperor Zhiyue with excuses like it looked nice, he wanted to collect it, or he just had a good feeling about it. The man had been on the throne for so long; he wasn’t that easy to fool.
"It’s related to my technology for annihilating ghosts. I was thinking of seeing if I can increase production. After all, I also benefit from annihilating ghosts." There were no lies in Qi Suian’s words.
But he spoke vaguely, preventing Emperor Zhiyue from grasping the specifics of his situation.
"Increase production... Can it be popularized?" Emperor Zhiyue wasn’t concerned with what benefits Qi Suian might gain; however great they were, he deserved them.
He was more concerned with whether this technology could usher the Ziyue Dynasty into a new era.
From sealing ghosts to annihilating them.
If they could master it, then as long as the Ziyue Dynasty endured, they would one day be able to make all ghosts disappear.
"Well, about that... I’m not sure." Qi Suian was telling the truth, but he was reframing the concept.
’If I don’t die and continue to evolve the Tai Sui God, I’ll be able to do it sooner or later.’
’But it’s definitely not possible right now.’
Emperor Zhiyue seemed to guess at this possibility. He then handed the high-grade equipment Enhancement Stone back to Qi Suian.
"Let’s talk about this later. I’ll have Grand Commander Yan take you to Purgatory. Whatever catches your eye, just take it."
"In any case, those things are of no use to the Ziyue Dynasty." Emperor Zhiyue didn’t care that Qi Suian might be hiding something, nor was he concerned about his intentions.
As long as their cooperation could strengthen the Ziyue Dynasty, giving those things to Qi Suian was perfectly acceptable.
It wasn’t as if they could use them anyway. They hadn’t even fully figured out ghosts, let alone these other weird and wonderful items.
"Great! It’s a deal. Give me fifteen minutes, and I’ll write out the *Qiankun Shifting Treasure* for you." Qi Suian grinned. ’As expected of an emperor, and one who stands against ghosts at that. He’s certainly magnanimous.’
Perhaps one day in the future, the Ziyue Dynasty would be able to make use of these items. But as for when or even if that day would come, it was a complete unknown for Emperor Zhiyue.
Rather than waiting for an uncertain future, it was better to cash in by giving them to Qi Suian in exchange for immediate benefits.
They might miss out on a future opportunity, but they definitely wouldn’t lose out in the present.
The Zhiyue People were much like Qi Suian; the future was invisible to them all.
Perhaps a single ghost tide was all it would take to turn the Ziyue Dynasty into ruins.
They didn’t know they were protected by the world will, and Qi Suian couldn’t possibly tell them. This was what created the information gap.
Qi Suian quickly finished writing out the details for the damage-transferring living body observation device. He padded the content exponentially, turning a thin booklet into a thick tome.
He even wrote the name on the cover with a flamboyant flourish.
"Here, it’s done." Qi Suian slid the book across the table to Emperor Zhiyue.
Emperor Zhiyue didn’t flip through it. He wasn’t one of the Royal Family’s researchers, so of course he wouldn’t understand the contents.
He did, however, put it away and said, "Grand Commander Yan is already waiting for you outside the door."
"It’s big enough to keep you occupied for several days."
Qi Suian just smiled. "I’m pretty fast. It might take you guys several days to look around, but not necessarily me."
With that, he got up and left.
Pushing the door open, he saw the new Grand Commander of Celestial Capital, Yan Jingxing, who had been waiting for quite some time.
"Long time no see, Old Yan. Dressed up all prim and proper like this, it really brings out your... character." Qi Suian didn’t have a single nice thing to say from the get-go.
Yan Jingxing forced a smile. He had thought that by becoming the Grand Commander of Celestial Capital, he wouldn’t have to stand guard duty and could avoid running into Qi Suian. He never expected to be assigned as Qi Suian’s guide.
"Thank you for the compliment. I’ll take you to Purgatory." This was the Imperial Palace. A little self-deprecation was fine; what Yan Jingxing truly feared was Qi Suian saying something else outrageous.
He had finally become a Grand Commander; he couldn’t afford to be stripped of his post just from guiding Qi Suian once.
So, sticking to the idea of keeping things strictly professional, he tried to speak to Qi Suian as little as possible to avoid giving him openings to talk more.
"Purgatory has nine levels in total. They store all sorts of things obtained from the Eternal Purgatory."
"It was built underground, not on the surface. The deeper the level, the more precious the items."
"The standard of what is considered ’precious’ is judged by Royal Family personnel, so it may not be entirely accurate."
Yan Jingxing introduced the so-called Purgatory to Qi Suian the entire way, not daring to stop talking for even a moment, terrified that Qi Suian would seize any pause to jump in.
"The two boxes of gifts the Crown Prince gave you before were precious items selected from the eighth and ninth levels of Purgatory."
"So, do you plan to start from the first level and work your way down, or go directly to the ninth?"
Only when he reached this point did Yan Jingxing finally stop talking.
It wasn’t because he had run out of things to say, but because they had arrived at Purgatory, allowing him to conclude his speech.
"Aren’t you going to come in with me?" Qi Suian didn’t answer Yan Jingxing’s question, asking one of his own instead.
This made Yan Jingxing’s eye twitch. ’Of course I don’t want to. Why would I go in? I wouldn’t be able to stop talking for a second.’
"Purgatory is a restricted area of the Imperial Palace. It would be inappropriate for me to enter," Yan Jingxing politely declined.
In reality, it wasn’t a problem for him to go in. He just didn’t want to.
His knowledge of Purgatory was limited, and he didn’t know much about the things inside. He definitely couldn’t keep up the dense chatter he had managed on the way there.
Once Qi Suian found an opening, he’d be in trouble.
"What if someone gives me trouble or provokes me? I might not be able to control my temper and just start killing, and then..." Qi Suian’s words made a vein throb on Yan Jingxing’s forehead.
’This is the Imperial Palace! Who would dare to mess with you?’
’You could go and give the Crown Prince a couple of good smacks, and no one would dare give you trouble, let alone provoke you.’
’The Royal Family members were taken down by your two words, "might happen," before they could even act. Who would ever push you to the point of losing your temper?’
’They’d all be dealt with long before you lost control.’
"Fine, I’ll go with you. I’ll be your escort." Yan Jingxing finally understood. If he didn’t go, Qi Suian wouldn’t let it rest.
And he would definitely be the one to suffer for it.
After all, with Qi Suian’s status, he would never be in trouble. That meant the only one who *could* be in trouble was him.
Emperor Zhiyue did trust him, but he wasn’t just a Guard anymore. He was the Grand Commander of Celestial Capital, and many people had their eyes on him.
If they found any leverage against him, he wouldn’t die, but he would be in for a rough time.
"That’s more like it. Now that’s the Master Yan I know." Qi Suian clapped him on the shoulder encouragingly and then walked straight into Purgatory.
Yan Jingxing could only follow. He really wanted to remind Qi Suian that he was no longer the Master of the Exorcism Bureau, but the Grand Commander of Celestial Capital.
But on second thought, at least he wasn’t being called the Grand Commander of Hell.
The last person called that, Nangong Yuan, had died so thoroughly that not even bone fragments were left.
He just hoped that when his time came, his death would be quick and not such a drawn-out ordeal.
