The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 890: Kumiko’s Reaction
Far away from Mainz, back in Cologne, Kumiko didn’t know what was going on with her boyfriend. No, the girl was so busy with her project that she couldn’t even watch the game.
Still, she didn’t really think too much about it, as this wasn’t the first time she missed her game, and the boy also understood that she had her own thing to do here.
’At least, I could watch the highlight later, or if something big happens, I am sure that he will tell me immediately.’ She thought to herself.
Unfortunately, her peaceful evening had to be disturbed abruptly when Kumiko heard steps rushing toward her room, getting louder as the person behind her must be closer to this room. The girl heaved out a deep sigh, rubbing her forehead as she felt like a headache was coming.
"What now, Sylvia?!" She asked without even turning her head around; her tone was snarky. Honestly, if Higo could hear her like that, the boy would be surprised, since he had never heard her being so harsh toward her friends.
That person behind, though, stopped instantly; her breath was still heavy and uneven, and her green-colored hair was quite messy, probably from all the running that she had done to arrive here.
The girl widened her eyes in surprise before finally blurting out a question in a high-pitched tone, "How do you know it is me?!"
Kumiko let out another deep sigh once again, looking at the girl with a helpless and slightly exasperated look on her face right now.
The girl was her best friend in the department, Sylvia Wolf. Unlike Kumiko, though, who looked like a proper student and always achieved the best results, Sylvia was like a rebellious teenager. She wore tattered jeans, got tattoos all over her shoulders and arms, had a nose piercing, and got her hair colored in so many different styles almost every month.
Not only that, Kumiko was a quiet and good girl that everyone loved, while Sylvia was someone who would always bring chaos whenever she was around, like the girl was some sort of a hellion here.
Honestly, no one really knew how those two got closer to each other like this, but some justified this as ’opposites attract ’.
"Of course, I know it would be you. Who is rude enough to run through the corridor with that loud sound coming from your ridiculous boots?" Kumiko sighed helplessly.
Well, at least the girl had the decency to look sheepish before she shook her head quickly, snapping herself from the current topic. "Anyway, how could you be so calm right now?! Look! Your boyfriend is making a big commotion here!"
Kumiko frowned a little bit when she heard that, reading the news from her friend’s phone. ’He should still be in the middle of the game, right?’ The girl couldn’t help but mutter.
However, Kumiko was so dumbfounded just from the title, as it was quite big and bombastic.
Saving Three Penalties in a Game, The Best Goalkeeper in the World?!
It took quite a while for the girl to be able to process everything here. Her eyes went blank, but her mind moved fast, processing everything.
’Wait, what is going on here? Three penalties?! Something big like that happened in that game?! Is he okay? Should I call him after this?’
Still, her fingers also moved fast, scrolling through the news while reading it thoroughly. That was when the girl finally knew what was going on, and it would be a lie if she said that she wasn’t speechless over this.
’His team suffered from three penalties? Are they really that unlucky?’ She muttered under her breath. However, her heart warmed with pride when she read the next content. ’Still, he saved all of them, huh? His proficiency with his clairvoyance ability sure gets stronger by now... Not bad, Ryukkun... Not bad...’
After regaining her consciousness, Kumiko glanced at her friend, only to find Sylvia smiling mischievously at her.
"...What?" Kumiko asked, her brows furrowed.
"Read the next article. The one I opened in the next tab." Sylvia said shortly, keeping her mysterious smile.
Curious, Kumiko did so, only to blush furiously when she read the title.
Who is Ryusuke Higo’s Mysterious Boyfriend, The One Who Helps Him Behind the Scenes?!
This was a gossip account; Kumiko could see it from the name of the platform. This was the one that her friends kept talking about whenever some celebrities made it into a headline or something like that.
What she didn’t expect, though, was for her to get into this.
She read the news once again, and most of the content there talked the same as the last article, about Higo’s achievement of saving three penalties in a single game. However, the highlight of the news came in the last part, after one of the reporters asked a crucial question here.
"I notice that you are always good at facing a penalty kick. Can you tell me what your secret is?"
Instead of using a standard answer, though, he decided to go all out in this question.
"Well, shout-out to my lovely girlfriend who is currently studying at Cologne University. She was the one who taught me something called sports biomechanics, helping me learn how to read someone’s intention in a one-on-one battle. My brain might not remember all the lessons there, but my muscles still remember everything that she taught me back then, making me a better goalkeeper today."
Well, Kumiko knew quite well that this was Higo’s answer during his panic state, especially when someone was so close to sniffing out his clairvoyance ability, probably the boy’s deepest secret in his life. Still, dragging her like this... Even calling her his lovely girlfriend...
"Ah! You are smiling!" Sylvia squealed happily, snapping a photo of Kumiko, who had a little twitch at the corner of her lips. "The ice princess is smiling genuinely, not just a fake one! Oh, she is so in love!" The girl sighed dramatically.
Kumiko herself was so speechless right now at her friend’s antics. Still, the smile stayed, and inwardly, the girl couldn’t help but think, ’Hmm... Should I go back first and call him, or should I wait for him to tell me about it first? Decision... Decision...’
