The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 884: The Goal that Everyone has been Waiting For!
"Listen, Morita." Mark Uth whispered before the start of the second half. "I know that I usually am the focal point of our attack, the one to gather the opponent’s attention. However, I also can make a run, you know? Can you at least give me a chance to do that?"
Morita was taken aback slightly when he heard that. However, instead of purely rejecting the idea, he pondered for a moment before asking, "You will get surrounded by two or three players quickly, you know? Can you really handle it?"
"Don’t worry, everything will be okay!" Mark Uth patted his chest a little bit boisterously.
Well, Mark Uth made that request out of a wimp, trying to show his frustration after not getting the ball that he liked for the whole first half. However, he also knew that Morita would always listen to his request, and that was why, he didn’t hold back from the very first second of the second half right now.
"Well, if you can get into a good position, staring at a good space toward the goal, maybe I would be able to give the ball to you. But before that, at least, try to get one first."
"Now I get a good run, staring into a good space inside the penalty box. Come on, Morita! It is time for you to fulfill that promise!’
Thud!
Then, as if the boy listened to him, Mark Uth suddenly saw the ball flying above him from his peripheral vision. Surrounding him, two of Mainz’s center backs were guarding him, but they still looked up at the ball, probably trying to calculate the timing to jump and clear the ball.
However, Mark Uth, just like any other Schalke striker, knew one thing about Morita. The Japanese midfielder had sniper eyes and feet, being able to send the ball to any spot wherever he wanted. Except if the boy wanted the ball to get stopped, there was no way it would be blocked before the ball truly fell into the spot that he wanted.
"SHIT! The ball is too high!"
"Cover the back! Cover the back!"
True enough, one of the home team’s center backs failed to read the ball correctly here. He jumped to clear it, and yet the ball just brushed his hair slightly without changing direction, and in the end, it fell straight to Mark Uth’s left foot, a perfect touch that let him continue his momentum straight away.
’Fuck, Morita! Your passing ability is a fucking cheat code! I know you will be able to get it to me!’ Mark Uth grinned widely, trying to run closer to the box after that first touch.
The other Mainz defender also reacted here. Mark Uth could feel pressure on the right side of his body, an attempt to shake off his balance. However, seeing the ball rolling in front of him and an empty side of the far post on the goal, he gritted his teeth, forcing his way through before pushing the ball with his left foot.
Thud!
The shot itself was slow, and it bounced slightly on the uneven grass in front of the goalkeeper. However, the route was hard to get, as even though the goalkeeper spread his arms wide to stop it, the man couldn’t really stop the ball, only seeing helplessly as it went into the bottom corner of the goal.
"FUCK YEAH!" The boy roared even as he stumbled on the ground, trying his best to get back on his two feet immediately. "COME ON, MORITA! WHAT A PASS!" He laughed while pointing at Morita, who was rushing toward him.
"Fucking hell, Mark! That run is crazy!" Morita laughed as well, jumping for a piggyback ride here. "That’s how you fucking do it!"
Soon enough, all the Schalke players followed, celebrating the goal together with the main character on the corner spot. They all laughed together, feeling a burden suddenly being lifted off their shoulder right now. After all, after the scolding that they received in the locker room earlier, this was like the perfect answer to that.
Higo himself also celebrated quietly in the back. He let out a relieved sigh, inwardly muttering, ’At least two penalties that I saved earlier worked well to give us the lead here...’
Of course, the one who got depressed the most was the home team, as they looked so dejected right now. After missing two penalties, conceding a goal only 40 seconds after the second half began was definitely the worst thing that could happen for them right now.
Still, it was clear that some of them were pretty casual about it. It seemed that they had already gotten numb from one defeat after another, and one more loss wouldn’t really hurt them in any way that was worse than before.
’Yeah, getting relegated seems to be not as bad as we thought, huh?’ Some of the guys with the red jersey here even thought like that.
Well, that was what six losses—soon to be seven—did to a team. It destroyed the team’s whole mentality, putting them in a depressed state that couldn’t be lifted so easily. All the Schalke players here knew exactly what it felt like, as they were also in the same shit hole last year.
Still, while they sympathized with Mainz players right now, especially since the boos got worse inside the stadium, there was no way they would show mercy.
No, if anything, this was a perfect chance for them to add more goals, and they didn’t want to miss it and wait until Mainz players managed to get their mentality back.
They started to encircle Mainz’s territory, trying to add to the lead to secure the score. More attacks were launched from left to right to the middle, but unfortunately, none of them got them to at least threaten the opponent again.
Still, they were quite patient here, knowing that sooner or later, the chance would come again for them.
’Yeah, if they don’t want to lose again, they have to come out of their shell, and that’s when we can strike again. Even if they don’t want to, we can still maintain the lead until the end. Nonetheless, either choice is perfect for us. We will go back to Gelsenkirchen with three points today!’
