The Rise of the Iron Wall!

Chapter 870: Aftermath

Well, it didn’t take more than a night before the news about this win spread across the whole world. Hell, even the highlight had already been uploaded to the official Bundesliga account on YouTube, and the title was quite shocking.

DRAMA AT THE WESTPHALIA STADION!

With the thumbnail being Higo roaring after the game was over, the pose that the boy himself still found to be quite pleasing.

’Yeah, who would’ve thought that I have a talent to be this photogenic? Not bad, right?’ He muttered to himself while also admiring his photo quite narcissistically.

The news that followed was also enough to get his smile to last for the whole night, as all of them were, unsurprisingly enough, trying to highlight his performance.

Ryusuke Higo in Action Again! 11 Saves Bring Schalke 04 Wins the Revier Derby!

A Win Against the Rival, How Far Could Schalke Go This Season?

Is Ryusuke Higo the Best Goalkeeper in the World Right Now?!

The last one was definitely exaggerating, mainly asking for a clickbait. Higo was so sure that once his performance dropped, that platform would also be the first one to criticize him as a flop or something like that. That was why he didn’t take the title seriously, shifting his attention to the others.

"Even Oliver Kahn commented that I am the most talented goalkeeper that he has ever seen since Manuel Neuer?" Higo raised his eyebrows slightly when he read that. "Man, I have to ask Kumiko-chan who this Oliver Kahn is..."

If anyone could hear what he thought right now, they all would’ve slapped their forehead already. After all, how could Higo not know who Oliver Kahn was?! And even if he didn’t know, why would he wait until he went back to Gelsenkirchen rather than browsing for the man’s information by himself?!

Still, Higo didn’t really notice, but he had developed some sort of dependency on Kumiko. At this point, when the girl was gone, the goalkeeper wouldn’t really know how he would survive in this harsh career, what with her always being next to him as a good advisor.

However, that was a matter to think about in the future. For now, though, Higo enjoyed every single comment that praised him, at least until he saw a video of Dortmund’s head coach in the post-match conference.

"This is a fucking disgrace!" The man roared while slamming the table quite violently. "We have been dominating the whole game as a better team, but the VAR decision ruined the whole momentum! That shit doesn’t belong to football! It kills the beauty of football! I have said it so many times, and I still stand by that!"

Higo couldn’t help but snort when he read that, finding the argument to be amusing. Feeling tickled by this, the boy finally couldn’t hold back anymore, opening his X account and replying to that message immediately.

Ryusuke Higo: Well, you can expect me to agree with him once I suffered from the VAR decision, but I really cannot wait to hear what he would say when he gained the advantage of it. Man, that would be funny.

Just a short caption with two sentences, but the content was enough to detonate the whole Bundesliga community.

DAMN! That burns!

Man, it must suck to get taunted by someone who denies you the win, right? LOL!

Shut up, you Japanese Bastard! You won with the referee’s help; you don’t have the right to say anything here!

Wait, why are you being so salty? Oh! You are Dortmund fans!

Also, Higo’s words in the post-match interview are right? All the controversial decisions in that game are valid! It is not anyone’s fault that Dortmund is so unlucky today.

Shut up! This must be those Bastards paying the fucking ref!

The comment kept going on, and Higo couldn’t help but nod, wanting to laugh to show his satisfaction. In the past, he was the one who always got baited into exchanging heated debates with random people on the Internet, but seeing him become the one who triggered everything sure was enough to satisfy his ego.

’Oh, God, this is so intoxicating... I cannot get used to it, or I will lose complete control of myself...’ He murmured to himself.

Still, the rest of the night went with him having the biggest grin on his face, with everyone talking about him on the internet. Hell, Morita even pouted slightly as somehow, Higo stole every light, leaving him with only a little exposure.

Not that Higo could be blamed, of course, since compared to his crazy performance, even though Morita managed to deliver one assist, the midfielder didn’t do too much in the game. Hell, in some platforms, Higo even got a perfect rating 10 out of 10, while Morita only had 8.8 or 8.9, a full point of rating below the goalkeeper.

The boy was still quite salty about it, but he couldn’t deny that Higo deserved the Man of the Match award for that game.

Now, with 9 points out of 5 games, Schalke managed to climb back to the 6th place of the standing, just one spot above Dortmund who they had just beaten yesterday. Their points were still the same, but since Schalke won their first encounter, at least, they won the head-to-head battle here, giving them an edge in the standings.

At least, the current standing gave Schalke’s supporters a chance to brag, as they finally experienced what it meant to be above their rival. After all, it had been quite a long time, a few years even, since something like this happened.

Of course, some guys were still realistic enough, reminding everyone that this was just the fifth game of the competition. With 29 games more to go, everything could still happen, and it was better not to brag too much about it first.

Still, compared to what they did last year, though, the current situation was definitely way better, and right now, all of the Schalke supporters couldn’t help but agree with what Morita said in the post-game interview yesterday.

’Yeah, at least, we can expect something great for this season, right?’
