The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 804: What to Buy with the New Salary?
Of course, it wasn’t that easy to get his mother to agree with him. No, his mother had been a brilliant woman and excelled at almost everything in her work, so it was impossible for her to give up everything just because Higo bagged so much money that they would never be able to spend it all for the rest of their life.
Fortunately, Minami also understood the root of her children’s worry, and her gaze softened immediately when she was being cornered by her son and daughter.
"The boss promised me a promotion to be a regional director for the Europe branch, and the office will be in Hamburg, Germany," Minami revealed. "At first, I was so excited about it. But now that you children are talking some sense about it... I will think carefully before accepting the offer."
Higo was so helpless when he heard that. The boy knew why his mother jumped into that offer without any second thought. After all, the thought of working in Germany, the country where he, her son, was thriving, was enough for her to abandon everything.
However, things really weren’t as simple as the woman thought.
First, Hamburg and Gelsenkirchen were not two cities that were close to each other. The former was located in the northern part of the country, and it would take more than five hours for anyone to travel by car to get to Higo’s place.
Then, there was also a problem with adapting to new surroundings.
Oh, don’t get him wrong, Higo believed that his mother was capable of learning German easily so she could communicate with other people normally. When it came to language, she was indeed that genius.
However, the problem was that Hamburg was not a place that was famous for Asian people to go. Facing that kind of isolation, Higo knew full well how lonely it would be, and once again, while Higo didn’t doubt that Minami would be able to survive, he wasn’t that heartless to let his mother suffer from that.
It also bothered him that her boss could make that kind of an empty promise just to force his mother to work harder. It was as if they took advantage of her eagerness to visit Higo, exploiting it so that his mother would work for them till drop with a big smile on her face.
’Oh, well... Fortunately, the new contract came in time, or I wouldn’t be able to stop Mom from being too stubborn about it.’ Higo let out a relieved sigh.
Even though Fujita-san would say that it was a pity for him to rush things up, getting paid less was still better than delaying for longer than necessary just to let his mother burn back at home. Also, 1.2 million Euros were still a lot of money, so the boy didn’t have to worry about it.
Still, now that he had so much money in his bank account, of course, another happy problem appeared.
Now, Higo had to think of a way to spend it, as, just like any other teenager who struck a big deal, the urge to buy something luxurious always popped into his head.
The only fortunate thing here was that his mother had forced him into a crass course on how to manage his finances, so the urge to throw away his money could still be suppressed at the last second.
However, of course, there would be things that he had to consider buying, some that he had never thought of since his previous salary was too small, but now, he could afford them.
First, it should be a car.
After all, even though the distance between his place and the training ground wasn’t that far, it was still inconvenient for him to walk around freely. No, no matter how much Higo hated it, the boy had to admit that he had become a public figure in Gelsenkirchen, and people would look up to him whenever he was seen on the street.
It would be okay sometimes, and Higo would always enjoy his time with the people in this city, accepting photo requests or even signing some shirts for them. However, it could also get overwhelming, especially when he was in a hurry for a training session, and some kids decided to stop him on the road for a photo and a little chat.
There was no way he could stop them, so in the end, the boy had to suffer silently. This problem would be solved immediately with a car in his possession, as he could just take it to the training ground quickly to avoid any disturbance in the process. As for meeting the fans, the boy could still do it at any other time besides that, so it shouldn’t affect them that much.
"A car, huh?" Fujita-san pondered for a moment as he thought about it. "A good idea, but the first thing that you need here would be to get a driver’s license first. I will send you to the best driving school in the town for about a month or two, and if you can pass it safely, I will send you a catalogue to pick your first car. How about it?"
Well, that was definitely a better idea. It would be a shame if he had a car just to find out that he couldn’t even drive it due to qualification, so the boy just followed his agent’s suggestion with a blind trust.
Then, the next thing he had to consider was home.
Yeah, even Higo himself was startled when he first heard it. After all, the boy was just here for a year, and everything seemed to be fine; nothing wrong with his comfortable flat. However, Kumiko’s argument about it was quite sound.
"You don’t have to pick the luxurious one, but you still need to consider the security here. People know that you live in this block, and once they are allowed to go out, they could swarm you with praise when you play well or even come to scold you when you play badly. If anything, it would be hard to find peace in this place, because the security is not that good."
That settled any argument that he had, and the boy didn’t even blink before agreeing to move to a new flat.
As he thought about it carefully, though, everything seemed to move fast, and yet, it would be a lie if Higo said that he didn’t enjoy it. The fact that he could buy so many things that he wanted without having to think about his bank account sure felt awesome.
With a grin on his face, the boy couldn’t help but think, ’Yeah, I can definitely get used to being a rich person...’
