The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 650: Higo Goes Crazy Again!
Steffen Tigges didn’t have any intention to hide where the ball would go. He just whacked it as hard as he could, aiming straight to the middle. IN his mind, when facing a penalty, the goalkeeper would always make a move, abandoning the center where they initially protected. This was a window he could break, and he didn’t intend to back down from it.
Unfortunately, he met Higo, the freak who could see a few seconds into the future. Although... Higo had to admit, even though it was embarrassing, that he flinched at his own vision. After all, the ball moved so fast straight to his face, and his first instinct was to wince and protect himself. It seemed that Tigges truly used everything he had to destroy the net behind him.
Fortunately, the instinct he honed for two years of playing football didn’t betray him. At the last second, Higo managed to overcome his instinct, forcing his body to react accordingly. He didn’t move anywhere, just staying in the middle while also lowering his center of gravity, making sure that even though he would get blown away by the shot, the ball itself wouldn’t bounce back to his own goal.
The most incredible part? From his flinch to his taking that action, only one second passed, and yet, everything he did here allowed him to anticipate the ball clearly.
BAM!
In the end, yes, he was getting blown back to his own goal, but Higo managed to deflect the ball upward, even letting it fly far behind the goal.
"OH! FUCK! IT HAS TO BE HIGO!"
"HE BLOCKS THE PEN! HE BLOCKS THE PEN!"
All the Schalke supporters cheered behind, while the rest of the players came to help Higo get up from the ground. Some even dared to provoke Steffen Tigges, who was so dumbfounded in the middle of the pitch, mocking that striker for his failure to put the ball on the back of the net.
"HA! Eat that, you dirty bastard!"
"Come on! Where is your arrogance earlier?! You cannot even score a fucking penalty!"
"We still have Higo! We still have Higo!"
Even Frohling on the sideline could be seen punching the air, celebrating this even more than when the team scored the first two goals earlier. Inwardly, he muttered, ’I have to thank that old man Draxler for recommending me this beast! I even get him for free, for God’s sake!’
Higo himself grinned weakly, secretly wiping his hands so quickly to get rid of the pain there. ’Fuck! The last time I got hurt from saving the ball was against Yuwell, right? I thought I had already gotten stronger; how could I still get overwhelmed like this?!’ He cursed inwardly.
Yeah, little did everyone know that Higo’s hands were so red behind his gloves. Well, it couldn’t be helped, since the shot itself packed so much power, and coupled with how close it was to the goal, not a lot of goalkeepers would dare to face it directly. Fortunately, it didn’t cause him any injury, but at least Higo looked at Steffen Tigges solemnly, not daring to underestimate the boy again.
"Come on, this is not over yet!" Higo shouted, trying to distract himself from the pain in his hand. "Keep your eyes on him! Don’t you dare let him fall again! He is so fragile, like a little girl, so stop pushing around!"
Steffen Tigges could feel his face so flushed red when he heard that little jab from Higo. It was one thing being mocked for his trick, but being called a weak little girl was too much for a German macho man like him. If it was outside of the pitch, he would’ve lashed out already, striking Higo straight to his face.
However, that was exactly what Higo wanted. Although he didn’t know how, the boy could recognize that behind Tigges’s innocent face, that striker had a devious mind. Higo was so convinced that the last two fouls the team suffered were initiated by Steffen Tigges himself, but the goalkeeper didn’t have any evidence to prove that wild theory.
’Anyway, as long as he lost his calmness, he would reveal weakness later. That way, maybe I could see clearly his little trick and see if I could expose it as well.’ Higo thought inwardly.
Well, that was another matter for later. Right now, it was a corner kick for Dortmund, and while they were slightly disoriented from the penalty miss, the hunger in their eyes was still there. Fortunately, this time, Schalke’s defensive team managed to clear the ball out of the box quickly, and Idrizi also cleared the rebound ball as far away as possible, forcing the opponent to start again from zero.
After this, Dortmund’s attack became more fierce. Just as Higo expected earlier, Steffen Tigges became the focal point of Dortmund’s attack, what with him getting fouled so many times in the dangerous area around Schalke’s penalty box.
At this point, even the referee had already noticed that Steffen Tigges’s round of action was suspicious. However, from his line of sight, all the fouls against him were valid, what with Schalke’s aggressive approach toward the boy. In the end, he had no choice but to give a foul, which gave Dortmund all the chances in the world to shorten the gap.
The only saving grace here was that it was Higo who stood in front of the goal. SO many chances were thrown away, and yet, he was always there as the team’s guardian angel, blocking the way for the opponent to get into the goal.
A header from Steffen Tigges; Higo caught it easily.
Another forceful attempt from Joseph Boyamba on the right side; he blocked it with both hands.
A long shot attempt from Taylan Duman; he punched it away easily.
Honestly, all the Schalke supporters were so baffled by how good Higo was, never expecting that they had a God in disguise guarding their goal. However, before they could be happy about this, Dortmund’s head coach finally had enough, and two players were prepared simultaneously on the sideline.
’Now, things are going to be more explosive.’ Higo couldn’t help but mutter.
