Chapter 635: Continuing the Momentum!

This episode didn’t go for that long, because a day later, Higo had already focused on the next game. The rest of the team was also at the same frequency, what with them having already forgotten the excitement after winning the game against Borussia Monchengladbach II a few days ago.

They were in a long marathon, so while it was good to be excited over every single win they earned, it was also important to keep their feet on the ground, making sure that they were ready for the next challenge.

Still, with the momentum they carried from the first game, Schalke II somehow dominated the next three games quite easily.

In the next game, they had to go to Lippstadt, a small city around an hour of travel to the northwest of the city. There, they fought against SV Lippstadt, the regular team in this competition that spent most of their time avoiding the relegation zone rather than fighting for a promotion.

The game itself went quite easily. Just like against Borussia Monchengladbach II, Higo didn’t take too much action, not facing a lot of threats from the opponent side. Hell, in fact, he could even count the amount of time he was touching the ball with his hand, which was only three times in that game. First was after anticipating a bad cross from the left side, then the last two were shots that just rolled weakly on the ground, far from enough to threaten his goal.

Meanwhile, the offense went berserk.

The game ended up 4-0 for Schalke II, giving them their biggest win so far in the season. In that game, Morita also played a big part, sending two assists and delivering so many threatening passes to the frontline, as if wanting to show that the performance in the first game was not a coincidence.

Overall, Frohling was happy with the result of the game, finding the team following every instruction he gave flawlessly. After that game, they were standing on top of the table with six points and a seven-goal difference, and while the competition was still long, at least it was a good start that any team could dream of.

The next game, though, was a little bit more complicated. They were playing against Wuppertaler SV, a team from a big city in this region called Wuppertal that was infamous for being an educational city.

Oh, their team wasn’t that good. In fact, just like in the first two games, Higo didn’t take that much action, just strolling around the penalty area while also waiting for any pass to come at him.

However, the problem was that the opponent put the entire team in the penalty box, not giving any space for Schalke players to create something.No matter how good the combination play or scheme that the players put together, the moment the ball got closer to the penalty box, at least two or three of the opponent players would rush and kick the ball out immediately.

This was a patience test for the entire team, as some of the players got frustrated at around the 70th minute. How could they not, when they dominated possession with 81 percent while they themselves only sent 4 shots-on-target so far. That was definitely an embarrassing stat to read.

The one who broke the deadlock, though, was none other than Morita. Facing such a tight wall like this, the boy knew that more balls to the penalty box wouldn’t work, so in the 89th minute, he launched a super rocket just ten meters from the center circle, sending the ball to the top bins without giving anyone else a chance to stop him.

That was a spectacular goal that would be remembered by those who came there as one of the best goals they had ever witnessed.

That was also the first-ever goal for Morita in this club, and it became even more special when it was the one that gave the team a win in the game. The boy brought the ball game back home with his face flushed red, and the next day, Higo saw him uploading it to show off his achievement to the people online.

As for the next game, the opponent was tougher. The team had to go to Dusseldorf to fight against Fortuna Dusseldorf II, a strong team in the division. While they weren’t the best, they had several dangerous players on their team, and this time, Higo had to work harder than usual.

Still, everything was manageable. He put on a big show by making 6 saves, including one where the opponent’s striker managed to escape through the left side to face him one-on-one. In this game, he clearly showed how valuable his clairvoyant ability was by predicting all the incoming threats to his side.

Unfortunately, the frontline was not in their best state. They fought so hard to earn a goal that could seal the deal, and yet, none of them managed to find the back of the net. Even Morita, who tried to take a long shot several times, was far from being lucky, and in the end, the team had to be satisfied bringing one point home.

So far, though, they had already achieved a strong result. With three wins and one draw, especially with their defense still intact, they stood on top of the table comfortably. The difference might only be one point or even a goal difference, but that couldn’t deny the team’s strong start in this season.

However, things started to change in the fifth game, where the first storm of the season came out of nowhere.
