The Reincarnated Hitman
Chapter 110: Olivia’s Family Is Quite Rich
"..."
Olivia had a blank expression on her face as Liam’s car pulled up to her family’s mansion.
Despite her protest, Liam hadn’t turned the car back, hence the reason they were now here. He stopped in front of the high gate, and a guard soon approached them.
From how he looked, it was obvious enough that he was an awakened human... A testament to how rich her family truly was.
Olivia glared at Liam, who simply had on a small smile, before she turned towards the guard, who immediately recognized her.
"Welcome back, Miss Olivia." The guard gave her a respectful nod before his eyes turned toward Liam. "And this gentleman?"
"My boyfriend," Olivia answered reluctantly.
The guard’s expression remained professional, though there was a brief flicker of surprise in his eyes.
"I see." He stepped back and spoke into the communication device attached to his ear, "Miss Olivia has arrived with a guest."
A few seconds passed before the massive gate slowly began to open, allowing him to drive in.
Liam looked around as they entered the estate.
The mansion itself was massive, surrounded by perfectly maintained gardens and several smaller buildings scattered across the property.
There were even more guards stationed throughout the grounds.
It was really obvious that one of the most famous heroes belonged to this family...well, if the decor didn’t make that fact obvious enough, then the giant statue of Radiance standing above the fountain did the trick.
Olivia’s face immediately turned completely red as she noticed that Liam was looking closely at the statue.
"Your family admires Radiance?" Liam turned to her with an innocent smile on his face.
Olivia’s face became even redder as she nodded, "S-something like that."
Liam glanced back at the statue.
It was an impressive piece of work, but it also gave him an idea of what was wrong with the family.
Perhaps that was the reason why Olivia warmed up to the three siblings, since she only had to be herself whilst with them.
It was also probably the same reason why she refused to reveal the fact that she was Radiance.
She was afraid.
The hitman’s hands subtly tightened around the steering wheel, but he didn’t let his mood show on his face.
Olivia was still looking out the window, avoiding his gaze.
He could tell she was uncomfortable, and he wanted to ask her about it, but he decided against it.
If she wanted to tell him, she would; besides, they were almost there.
The car came to a stop in front of the main mansion, and Liam proceeded to turn off the engine and unfasten his seatbelt before leaning towards her side and helping her with hers.
"Ready?"
Olivia didn’t answer immediately; instead, she took a deep breath before slowly nodding.
"Yeah."
Liam stepped out of the car and walked around to her side. He then opened the door for her. Olivia stepped out and extended her hand towards him.
He looked at her hand before smiling and taking it. "Let’s go."
Olivia nodded.
The two began walking toward the mansion, their hands still intertwined, and Liam could feel the slight tension in her grip.
As they approached the entrance, the massive doors suddenly opened, and several servants were standing on either side of the entrance, waiting for them.
"Welcome home, Miss Olivia."
Olivia gave them a small nod before pulling Liam along with her, but he was busy looking around as they entered.
The interior was just as extravagant as the outside.
Everything seemed carefully arranged, from the expensive furniture to the massive paintings hanging on the walls.
Yet despite how impressive the mansion looked, Liam couldn’t help but feel that something was missing.
It didn’t exactly feel like a home.
"What’s wrong?" Olivia asked, noticing his expression.
"Nothing," Liam turned to her with a smile, "just a bit intimidated by the decor."
"Want to go back?" She asked once again, this time with a smile on her face.
"Not a chance," he responded, turning to face her, "besides, it’d be rude to just leave without saying hi."
"You’re being quite stubborn today," Olivia looked at his face with a blank expression.
A smile appeared on Liam’s face as he leaned closer to her before saying, "would you like to punish me?"
Her face immediately turned completely red as she turned away from him, "l-let’s go."
She pulled him ahead again, but the tension in her grip seemed to loosen slightly, which was what he had intended to achieve.
The two continued deeper into the mansion and they soon entered a large sitting room where several people were already gathered.
Liam immediately noticed that they were all dressed quite well. Some were talking amongst themselves while others sat on the large couches scattered around the room.
The moment Olivia entered, all of them immediately turned silent and turned towards them.
"So this is him?" After a while a silence, someone suddenly spoke up, causing Liam to turn his head towards that direction.
A young woman was sitting on one of the couches, watching him with an interested expression.
She looked to be around Olivia’s age, though her demeanor was far more relaxed.
"You’re quite handsome," she said bluntly, "I see why our dear Ra—Olivia chose you."
The hitman immediately understood what her deal was. Given everyone else’s reaction when they looked at Olivia when compared to hers, she was probably the only one close to her.
Olivia’s reaction to her words basically confirmed the hitman’s thoughts but he chose not to address that for now.
Instead,
"Thank you," Liam responded with a small smile, "You’re quite straightforward."
The woman smiled, "I prefer being honest."
Olivia simply let out a sigh before saying, "Ignore her."
"What?" The woman asked, "I was just being honest....after all, these other idiots won’t do it."
Liam couldn’t help but find the interaction amusing.
Unlike everyone else in the room, this woman didn’t seem to treat Olivia like some untouchable figure.
She was speaking to her like a normal person.
More importantly, Olivia wasn’t uncomfortable around her, if anything...
She seemed comfortable.
"Anyway," the woman said, turning her attention back to Liam, "I’m Amelia."
"Liam."
Before Amelia could add anything else, a servant walked into the room and announced, "dinner is ready."
Several people stood up and started making their way toward the dining room and Olivia turned towards Liam again,
"Come on."
