Chapter 497: Chapter 315: Zog’s Buzz-Generating Demon Shadow Festival

A Red Dragon, a capitalist Red Dragon, was wandering the skies above Deepwater City.

It wasn’t that Zog wanted to make some grand declaration; he was simply admiring his happy little OCD city.

Deepwater City already somewhat resembled a modern city from Earth.

As night fell, a dense network of lights shone like a dazzling sea of stars, obscuring the real ones in the sky.

The perfectly straight, grid-like streets divided the city into neat, orderly little blocks.

Zog felt that "concrete jungle" wasn’t the right term for Deepwater City. First, steel wasn’t the primary building material. Second, the inside of a real forest is actually quite chaotic. A place like Twin Tower City was more deserving of the "jungle" moniker.

A city as refined as Deepwater City should be called a concrete circuit board.

Unfortunately, Feilin probably wouldn’t be unlocking the circuit board on the tech tree anytime soon. Magic Energy had basically fulfilled the role of electricity.

Zog patrolled his domain from high above. The orderly industrial district, the refined commercial district, the comfortable residential areas, all dotted with pockets of greenery and connected by a well-developed transportation network. And most importantly, there were no slums.

Filthy, chaotic slums separated from glamorous, wealthy districts by a single city block—a common sight on the Continent.

But that didn’t exist here.

The overwhelming sense of order filled the Dragon with delight.

Everything was so fitting, so elegant...

’Wait, what the hell is that thing up ahead, bucking its way through the sky?’

Zog’s eyes widened, staring at a strangely shaped shadow about two hundred meters ahead.

It looked like some kind of creature lying on top of something, with a "tail" sticking out from behind. This tail seemed to build up Magic Power and then release it, launching the person and all far into the distance in a completely ungraceful parabolic arc.

It "flew" through the air, lurch after lurch.

’Is Feilin dealing with UFOs now too?’

If you could even call that thing a flying object.

In any case, in all his long life, Zog had never seen anything fly like that.

If he listened closely, he could even hear a shrill cry coming from the unidentified flying object.

’It couldn’t really be some unknown creature, could it?’

Zog listened intently.

It sounded a bit familiar.

Was that... Common Tongue?

"Help—I can’t stop—"

"..."

Suddenly, the city didn’t feel so orderly anymore. Zog felt a sudden urge to establish air traffic control regulations for Deepwater City.

Zog considered himself a good Red Dragon with high moral standards, after all.

So he flew over and rescued the person who was screaming for help until their voice was hoarse.

Only when he got closer did he see clearly: it was a junior researcher from the research institute, riding a Magic Broom.

If he wasn’t mistaken, this must be an experiment for the Magic Broom development project.

Zog landed nearby, holding the researcher by the scruff.

"Oh, thank goodness! I’m so lucky you were here, Mr. Zog. I don’t know what I would’ve done otherwise."

The researcher looked shaken, but at the same time, there was a hint that he hadn’t quite had his fill of the experience.

"You... you test these brooms without any safety measures?"

Zog really hadn’t expected them to be so reckless with their testing.

"No, that’s not it. There is an emergency landing measure, but it would destroy the broom prototype. So unless it’s a last resort, we don’t use it," the researcher answered honestly.

"So you chose to try screaming for help instead?"

"Yes. I didn’t expect you to show up, though."

Zog seriously suspected that the Deep Research Institute’s whole vibe had been warped by those goblins.

"So, about this Magic Broom." He decided to ask about something else.

The researcher proudly showed off the broom. "The Harry Potter merchandise line you commissioned is now one step closer to success after this test."

"I think we might have different definitions of ’one step closer to success.’" Zog didn’t think this method of flight, which resembled skipping a stone on water, was very reliable.

"Setting aside the problems with stopping and landing, this ’lurch and fly’ model doesn’t match the description in the novel at all!"

The Magic Broom was a key project in the Harry Potter merchandise line and the foundation for promoting Quidditch in the future. You had to be able to play ball on it, at the very least.

"It does match! This broom is just a prototype to verify the principles of flight. And now we’ve verified that this principle works."

The researcher explained matter-of-factly, "Next, all we have to do is adjust the frequency and power of the Magic Power jets to be uniform, and we’ll achieve stable flight."

Zog was stunned.

’Calculus. The researcher used calculus!’

"Well... in that case, I wish you a speedy success in your R&D efforts?"

"Of course. We expect to be finished within the month."

The researcher seemed full of confidence. The thrilling test flight tonight didn’t seem to have affected him at all.

Zog felt that beneath this researcher’s Human skin, there might truly be the soul of a goblin lurking.

If what the researcher said was true, the Magic Broom project would be completed within a month. By then, the second Harry Potter book should also be finished, with the plot gradually entering its more intense stages.

The Shadow of Evil production should also be starting, and the hype for Harry Potter would be at its peak.

People would definitely take notice of the city where Hogwarts School was located. It was a great opportunity for Deepwater City to become truly famous.

But Zog always felt that relying on just a school to attract people was missing something.

A healthy approach was to generate traffic from multiple hot topics at once.

And what was best for generating traffic?

Controversy.

Wherever there’s an argument, there’s buzz.

Zog planned to create a platform that would make it easy for people to argue, but not so intensely that things got out of hand.

After much thought, he realized that an awards ceremony was the perfect platform for it.

As everyone knows, with something like an awards ceremony, no matter how you hand out the prizes, someone will be dissatisfied. And if you give out awards from different perspectives, you’ll manage to dissatisfy different groups of people.
