Chapter 390: Chapter 272: Zog is a Good Red Dragon
When there’s no Extraordinary Power involved, having more sons means having more muscle, which is how you become the village tyrant.
"Doesn’t the village chief do anything about it?"
Zog had no sooner asked the question than he realized how foolish it was. "Never mind, you don’t have to answer. I’m guessing they *are* the village chief’s family."
Zor nodded in confirmation.
"Should we take care of them now?" he asked.
"I’ll go myself."
Zog said. ’I’ve never faced such a pathetic opponent in my entire life.’
「Sheep Horn Village」
The place where Lucia’s grandfather lived.
A seemingly harmless little Red Dragon strolled into the village.
The server room was easy to find—it was the finest building in the village.
Zog arrived at the door and saw a burly man standing there, broad-shouldered and thick-waisted, looking to be about six-foot-three tall.
A physique like that would certainly make him unbeatable in this village.
The fact that he could eat enough to get that large proved his family had been tyrannizing the village for a long time.
"Where’d this Sub-Dragon come from?" the burly man said disdainfully, grabbing a piece of meat from a nearby table. "Here, boy, here..."
And then the burly man lost his hand.
"Alright, answer a few questions for me. Where’s your family’s house?" Zog asked, his voice even.
The man’s earlier arrogance was gone, replaced by uncontrollable trembling from the pain and fear.
"Don’t worry. You tell me, and I won’t lift a claw. I’ve always been a good dragon who keeps his promises."
Following Zog’s "kind" request, he successfully located the village chief’s home.
After a brief negotiation, the family’s youngest son was sent to gather all the villagers in the clearing in front of the server room.
Soon, someone from every household in the village had arrived at the meeting point.
There, they saw the village chief’s entire family kneeling in a group, along with a red dragon.
Seeing that just about everyone had arrived, Zog addressed the crowd. "This server room is free of charge, provided by the Zog Group. No one is allowed to charge money for its use. Not now, not ever. If anyone thinks about trying, just take a look at that family over there."
All eyes turned to the village chief’s family.
Zog then turned to the village chief. "Has your family ever seized other people’s land?"
The village chief’s expression was a mixture of fear and embarrassment; he stammered, unable to form a coherent response.
"Then you won’t mind returning it to its rightful owners, will you?"
The village chief nodded tremulously.
Zog continued, addressing the villagers. "Did none of you ever think to band together and fight back against them?"
He was met with numb, apathetic stares.
Only one old man, who didn’t seem particularly afraid of Zog, replied, "If it weren’t them, it would just be someone else."
’He was right. There would always be someone else.’
Zog didn’t say anything more. He simply left them with a parting statement: "Everyone in their family has been afflicted by a Weakness Technique. It should last for the rest of their lives."
With that, he flew away from the small village.
He was true to his word—he hadn’t directly laid a claw on them. But now, when the villagers looked at the chief’s family, their eyes no longer held any fear.
Upon returning to Twin Tower City, the first thing he did was have Elsa halt all the public-interest server projects currently under construction.
"Ha! I knew you wouldn’t go through with this charity work," Elsa said with an I-told-you-so expression.
Zog didn’t answer her directly, instead asking a question of his own. "Did your village have bullies like that?"
"Of course. What village doesn’t?"
"Then wouldn’t the server rooms I build just become a tool for them to profit from?"
"They would, but you could just assign people to oversee the server rooms once they’re built. Then people wouldn’t be able to take advantage of them."
"So I’d have to spend money to hire people to watch over them? I’m no fool. Besides, with so many locations, how many supervisors would I even need to hire?"
Elsa had to admit that it sounded unrealistic.
Zog scratched his head. It looked like popularizing the servers and the network would have to wait for a technological breakthrough that brought the cost down.
"Sigh..." Elsa suddenly had a flash of inspiration. "What if you had lots of people share a single server?"
"Isn’t that just an internet cafe? I can’t exactly go around opening internet cafes in every village."
"Well, could we possibly develop some kind of remote-sharing technology? Then we wouldn’t need to open internet cafes in the villages."
"Remote sharing? And you’re going to invent it, are you...?"
The words were barely out of his mouth when Zog suddenly remembered—that kind of remote-sharing technology actually did seem to exist.
The technology of the Soul Ascenders.
