Chapter 375: Chapter 268: From City Hero to Internet Celebrity Brother (Finale)

After Leon received his prize money, he suddenly realized he’d never once thought about how to spend it.

He had very few material desires and wasn’t picky about food, clothing, or accommodations.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to last so long just by gnawing on black bread.

Aside from being so consumed by his dream that he was oblivious to how poorly he ate compared to others, he genuinely thought the black bread was decent.

However, his friends at the shop thought he was unbelievably pitiful.

After arriving at the training base, there were even fewer opportunities to spend money. He ate at the cafeteria, lived in the dorms, wore clothes provided by sponsors, and mooched Cokes off his teammates.

Life was just that dull.

After the competition, Miss Grace gave all the team members a long vacation.

They would rest for a while before preparing for the year-end finals.

Some teammates went traveling, while others became absorbed in the local pleasure quarters.

Grace only forbade them from doing two things.

First, no gambling. A player involved in gambling always carried the risk of match-fixing.

Second, no touching the strange hallucinogenic potions concocted by Alchemists. That stuff would mess with your head.

To sum it up, she, Grace, considered gambling and drugs her sworn enemies.

As a result, his teammates’ entertainment naturally leaned in that direction.

Whether they were traveling or hitting the clubs, they all found female companions—and more than one.

This group of internet-addicted youths, who were once completely ignored by girls, had become a hot commodity overnight.

Who said a championship you coasted to wasn’t a real championship?

After all, hadn’t they won two small games? They helped Leon bait out some of the enemy’s resources. You could say Leon’s one-man army victory was at least a third their doing...

As for the one who should have been the most sought-after, young Leon, he chose to stay at the training base for the vacation.

The villa was located in an upscale community that crazed fans couldn’t get into.

Miss Grace had thoughtfully arranged for the cook to stay behind.

She was paid by the day and didn’t want to take a vacation. Just cooking for Leon alone with no reduction in pay? She’d never had a better gig.

This meant Leon didn’t need to spend any money during his vacation either.

And so, Leon, a seasoned veteran in the world of gaming but a novice lacking common sense in reality, came up with the best way he could think of to handle the money.

He gave it to his parents and asked them to manage it for him.

Upon hearing this, the team leader lavishly praised Leon for his brilliant move, saying that now no one could inflict percentage-based damage on him by marrying and then divorcing him.

Leon said he didn’t understand.

As for Leon’s parents, they had never seen so much money either and were at a loss.

But they made what was perhaps the wisest decision of their lives.

They asked Miss Grace.

It had to be said, Grace was a good person.

After Leon’s parents consulted her, she suggested they invest the money in the Twin Tower City’s event lottery.

Not to buy lottery tickets, but to invest in the venture itself, which was in its nascent stage and needed capital.

And just like that, in a state of blissful ignorance, a future minor magnate of Twin Tower City was born.

Meanwhile, Leon, who was "surviving" at the base with the cook, began his treatment.

To prevent him from giving in to the urge to play games, which would affect his recovery, a Priest even professionally placed a seal on his right hand.

Don’t move!

And so, Leon discovered a new world. ’So this is what it feels like to use my left hand.’

During the days when he had nothing to do, he dug out his old school textbooks.

Leon figured that he would eventually be too old to play professionally, so it was better to read more. ’There’s never a downside to gaining more knowledge.’

In truth, while his grades weren’t great, they weren’t terrible either. He was just one of the ordinary masses.

But when it came to studying, especially self-study with no one watching over you, it all came down to self-discipline.

For a teenager, it was impossible to keep that up all day.

So Leon set his sights on another one of his victory prizes.

A home console, courtesy of the Zog Group.

The top-of-the-line model.

It was equipped with almost every accessory, except for a few features reserved for Mages.

A single unit more expensive than the six machines in their training room—which they used for watching replays—combined.

On his very own console, Leon logged into YouTube.

Previously, whenever he used YouTube, he was completely focused on watching the Devil and paid no attention to any of the other content.

Leon clicked on the trending list.

In first place was "DIY Smile Assistant: Achieve the Perfect Smile Through Physical Means," by: Handy Stone.

Stone?

’Such a familiar surname. I feel like I’ve heard it in many places.’

Leon clicked on the video.

A deadpan old man in work clothes appeared on the screen.

"I know some of you out there, whether due to personality or past experiences, rarely show a smile. This stern expression can cause many inconveniences in your daily and social lives.

"For that reason, I have designed and built the Smile Assistant to help these people."

As he spoke, the video showed a semicircular piece of iron with two hooks attached by chains.

It looked chillingly sinister.

"It’s very simple to use. You just need to place these two hooks on the corners of your mouth, then turn this knob to tighten the chains. A smile will slowly appear, and you can easily maintain it for the entire day..."

The old man proceeded to demonstrate its use on himself.

As the chains gradually tightened, the old man’s mouth bent upwards at a bizarre angle. Crucially, he stared fixedly at the camera the whole time, looking more and more deranged by the second.

Leon was so creeped out he immediately closed the video.

’What the hell did I just watch?’

The Joker from the Batman comics had just appeared on screen; the smile was a perfect match.

So weird. So terrifying. ’I kind of want to watch it again.’

Leon clicked back to the original video.

The more he watched, the more hooked he became.

’How does someone even come up with this stuff?’

Bizarre, but fascinating.

The comment section shared his opinion. It was filled with uproarious laughter, and quite a few people were even writing their own jokes and skits.
